Incredibly authentic Chinese food with down-to-earth prices. Great service and great ambiance in a friendly setting. We had general tso chicken - too big for 2 people! Be careful before you order too much!

We checked out beautiful south in downtown charleston and loved our experience! We went at 5:15 on a wednesday in january- so expectedly, there weren't very many guests there. The staff were all very personable and friendly, adding to our experience. The menu is family style, everything is meant to be shared. I would describe the menu as a unique twist on Chinese food. Authentic flavors but modernized. We loved the small plates- the crab rangoon "chip and dip" style was unique, and the dumplings were delicious. The drink menu was also very unique and had a wide range of flavors. Overall we will be back!

This was our 2nd dinner and stop of the night after our first dinner on St. John's Island was woefully wanting. Went here with my vegan friend who absolutely loved everything here. Just one look at our picture and you can see that not only is everything so saturated and intoxicatingly rich looking and tasting, the variety of dishes and ambiance all brought the house down. The scallion noodles were really good BUT my mom's are better. I do still appreciate the crunchiness of the fried scallions and the tanginess of the oil sauce but I wanted a slightly thinner, more slippery noodle and the inclusion of sesame seeds and fried shallots for a more well rounded flavor profile. Their general Tso's tofu dish was absolutely delicious. Their kung pao mushroom dish leaned towards the saltier side but was still incredibly appetizing. I got the Cantonese egg noodle with cha shao pork slices. The pork, while tasted and looked great, was cut way too thickly. They also could've used a bit more heat and time on the grill. The entree portions were big but the scallion noodles were tiny. Our server was personable but did get our bill mixed up with another table. Besides that, I did appreciate his recommendations and commentary. Loved this place and it ended up being our favorite restaurant in Charleston so that was high praise.

Sunday Brunch at Beautiful South is a must do for locals and visitors of Charleston! Their Dim Sum menu is AMAZING!! Our Dim Sum Favorites: Scallion Pancake w/Egg Hong King-Style French Toast Beef Dumplings Steak Chow Fun Cumin Lamb Burger Char Siu General Tso Chicken Jade Mountain Classic Mimosa Yes!! We tried a lot and even had enough for leftovers the next day. Their portion sizes are large and everything was delicious! Be sure to check them out for yourself.

Beautiful South is a perfect date night spot with great service, ambiance, delicious dishes, and unique cocktails. The matcha cocktail was unlike any drink I've ever had. The dining experience was fun and easy especially for a date night, because they recommend you choose a few dishes to split. This allowed us to try a few different things and share. We also ordered pork dumplings which I did not snap a photo of, but they were pretty fantastic! Overall great experience at Beautiful South!

This place had a very cool, new vibe to it. However, after thinking over the food, I would give this 3/5 You can get much better Asian food elsewhere. The peppered beef was just that, extremely peppery. I did enjoy the Hong Kong noodles but it wasn't knock your socks off. I had reservations here so we were sat immediately. However, the table behind us had a little kid that was running around screaming.

I've visited beautiful South twice. The first time it was ok. Our food came quickly and service was fine. The second time it took over 20 minutes just to get greeted at our table and the food was just ok. The chicken was just ok. The green beans were the best thing we ate here. Everything else was just meh. I wouldn't come back.

Overpriced "Experience," Under-seasoned Food Don't let the aesthetic fool you. We came for drinks and apps, and every single thing we ordered was a massive letdown. The pork dumplings were trash, and the ribs had absolutely zero flavor. I tried exactly one rib out of the three, realized they weren't worth a dime of my money, and asked to send them back. Instead of professional service, the server looked me dead in the face and told me they don't take things off the bill because "you're paying for an experience." I didn't realize the "experience" included paying full price for food that isn't seasoned and a rude attitude when you point it out. If you're looking for a place in Charleston that actually respects your palate and your wallet, go literally anywhere else. Drinks were good

I am so late writing this review because I visited Charleston six months ago, but I definitely wanted to talk about one of the best restaurants. I ate it while I was there. Beautiful south is a very beautiful nice casual spot. You could easily get dressed up or be dressed down to visit and enjoy some good food. I went with some friends and we enjoyed a few appetizers like the five spice dry room, ribs and dumplings, as well as the crab Rangoon dip, which was personally one of my favorite things. The crab Rangoon dip had big pieces of crab meat in it, not that imitation crab either. As far as the food went, everything was absolutely amazing. And the portions were big. Definitely had some leftovers to enjoy at our Airbnb the next day. Prices were affordable. The staff was very nice and answered all of our questions since we were out of town and didn't really know much about the restaurant. They gave awesome suggestions and recommendations. The next time I'm in Charleston I will definitely make sure to come back and visit Beautiful South but it's delicious food.

We went on a more adventurous outing with some vegan friends, so we had a mostly vegan meal. We had several meals from the menu, but substituted the meats with tofu. We selected seven different dishes and are buffet style, everything was delicious and flavorful.

I like this upscale Chinese place! The ambiance is rather romantic and classy. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors clean. I went with some girlfriends and we shared several dishes Including the eggplant, moo goo gai pan, mushroom shumai. The service was good. Overall a great experience and I'd go again.

I went to Beautiful South for dinner around 6pm on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded, so we were seated right away. Our server was nice but newer, so she didn't know a ton about the menu. We ordered a couple of things and nothing really stood out to us. - Crab rangoon dip was creamy and good, and we enjoyed it paired with the crispy wonton crackers - The shrimp toast was just okay - all you can really taste is the oil and how fried it is - The scallion oil noodles were fine, but kind of one-note and didn't have any special flavor - The mongolian beef was just okay as well, but you get tired of it pretty quickly since it's the same base flavor over and over Besides the crab rangoon dip, everything was pretty one-dimensional and lackluster. Definitely Asian fusion cuisine that may be good if you haven't had any of these dishes before, but not worth going if you've eaten decent Asian food. Restaurant has great decor, but I wouldn't choose to go back.

I got the vegan black pepper tofu. It was very good, don't get me wrong, but it was neither spicy nor flavorful. They didn't have hot sauce so I added chili oil, but the bottom part wasn't very spicy either! I also didn't like that every table who ordered after me was told there was a long wait for white rice because of a "big" table. Asian restaurants should never run out of white rice, and the table wasn't very big.

The food is expensive and not terribly good, too sweet, overcooked, and uninteresting.

They offer an impressive selection of wines both by the glass and by the bottle, making it easy to find something you'll love. While the food menu is small, every item feels thoughtfully curated. The black olives were the perfect snack pairing, and the peaches were absolutely incredible. We loved learning that the peaches are sourced locally and that the mint is grown fresh right behind the restaurant. The space itself is cozy and intimate, creating a warm atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. We can't wait to come back!

It was quaint but very inviting. I'm so sorry if I got your name wrong but I think it was Nicole? She was very friendly and told us about their specials and I love that they print a new menu daily as they rotate a lot of their wines. There was an option to do a "half bottle" which gets you just a touch more than a glass so we thought that was perfect for the two of us for just under $40. We got a nice and chilled Gamay and enjoyed our conversations with her. It's a nice place for a date, girls night or even if you want to sit alone at the bar. The team there makes you feel at home!

Upon entering the hostess were so sweet and got us sat immediately. We both knew walking in we wanted a steak. I was a little skeptical about the black berries with the savory items but to my surprise it was soooo amazing! I also tied the blue crab bisque! Talk about flavor!
