This is a tough review to write as I have very mixed feelings on this salon. My teen daughter began going there and has had some great cuts. I decided to try it for myself for a partial highlight and cut. I reviewed the providers and opted for a more junior stylist to save money. My appt was cancelled and rebooked with a master stylist (I was unaware of the level of my new provider and did not ask about a price difference - totally my fault.) After my full highlight (not partial) and checkout, I was very happy with the cut/color, but unhappy with the new price. I called the salon and the owner apologized and refunded me the difference saying that it was her intention to honor the price for the originally booked service. OK great! Willing to give them another try. Well, my teenage daughter called and asked how much a partial highlight with cut would be this summer. They said it will be a max of $260. While that is outragious to me, she was excited and we opted to keep the appt. When checking out, the price increased to $305. I was so shocked that I just paid and left. Have been thinking about calling, but I waited too long. (Again - my bad.) I am not ok with a business that regularly over-charges customers. We will not be back as I just do not trust their pricing/processes. (Stylists are talented and this is not a reflection on their capabilities.) I made an appointment here to get my hair cut after having a bad experience with another stylist. I was hoping to get all my hair evened out to the shortest layer. On the day of my appointment I got a call saying they wanted to move my appointment from 4 to 5 because my stylist was running behind. I couldn't do that so they kept my appointment at 4. I was actually expecting that they would try to reschedule but I guess there was no need. From the moment I got in I could tell the stylist was in a hurry. She sat me down and looked at my hair then told me it could just be blended to fix the bad layers and that she could dry cut it. The whole time, she and another stylist were talking about how my stylist needed to leave to go on a trip. She cut my hair then said "It looks great! Do you think we need to wash and dry it?" Mind you, this had been less than 10 minutes for an hour-long appointment. She hurried to wash and dry my hair, she put conditioner in my hair then immediately washed it out. She didn't even dry my hair all way then realized she had to fix the layers more. Meanwhile she is rushing and talking to the other stylist about her trip she's about to leave for. When she was done she said it looked good and asked me about it while taking off the robe. She didn't even offer to have me look at the back of my hair, the part I wanted fixed, before she started packing up her things. I felt so rushed I didn't even ask to see it because they made me feel like such an inconvenience. All and all, it felt very unprofessional from both stylists and I still need my hair fixed because she finished in 35 minutes. read more

I recently had a Korean lash lift and brow tint. I was a bit nervous because I my eyebrows are basically unnoticeable and I don't wear mascara - so I thought it all might take some getting used to. I have come to the conclusion that IT'S A GREAT IDEA to turn yourself over to Beautique for beautification! My expert and very patient treatment provider was Lilliana and I will be going back to her for sure! I appreciate the suggestions she made and I'm super glad I listened to some of them. I took my teenage daughter for a haircut with the Master Stylist, LAURA. We waited 20 minutes past our appointment, and I paid almost $100 for a haircut and blowout, but she only braided my daughter's hair, so I couldn't even see the result. She even complained that my daughter has a lot of hair, which makes me wonder if she never intended to do the blowout or simply couldn't handle this type of hair. That would be fine--but I paid for a complete service. The receptionist should not have charged me the full price for less than one hour of service. Very unprofessional, overpriced, and absolutely not worth it. Sorry, but I DO NOT recommend this salon. read more

How have I not left a review yet??!!? I've been seeing Leah Lynch (the owner) since maybe 2009 which is a crazy long time! In that time, she's moved to her own location, first in downtown NBPT and now to the beautiful Beautique location on Parker St. I've moved to Boston but I make the 2 hour round trip every 3 weeks because Leah and her team are the only people I trust with my eyelashes. There is ample free parking (or a 2 min walk from the commuter rail station) and the space is beautiful and welcoming. Leah has taught lash extension technique (with a focus on safety/cleanliness) all over the world and this translates into the most beautiful lashes. When I first moved to Boston, I tried out a couple of other different places. One place in Beacon Hill was awful, the lash technician pressed on my eyelids so the whole process was painful. Another on Newbury St didn't take the time to comb through and separate the tiny new lashes from the extensions so after a week my lashes were all twisted and spidery looking. Hence, my drive to NBPT. If you're new to lash extensions, you lie down in the beautiful lash lounge, soft music playing on a comfy bed, curtains separate you from other clients. Soft gel pads are placed under your eyes to hold down your lower lashes and then you close your eyes and relax. All of the lash technicians are super well-trained, very gentle and very professional. I occasionally doze off (not easy when someone is messing with your eyelashes). I especially like that the lash technicians will work with you to customize your look. I'm a chapstick and no make up kind of person so I don't like the super-full Kardashian look so they use thinner extensions on me. I get many compliments on my eyelashes vs. my eyelash extensions. As I mentioned, Leah has trained everyone to meticulously isolate the eyelash from the teeny tiny new eyelashes that grow alongside it. This means your extensions grow out straight and smooth, no twisty, clumpy messes. I have had many friends take advantage of cheap lash extensions that have looked awful and have caused damage to their lashes, I've been seeing Leah, Jessika, Gina and others for years and my lashes are still in great condition. Wow, that was an essay. If you're thinking about lash extensions, don't delay. It's amazing to wake up with no mascara smudges, your eyes look so much bigger, amazing for a vacation or special event. read more

I couldn't be happier with the services I have received at Beautique! I started off by getting my hair cut and styled by Lindsey who did a fabulous job! She listened to my worries about my hair and made recommendations on how to cut and style, she was very knowledgeable. Everyone was so friendly, warm and inviting that and I wanted to try more services. I moved onto facials with Hanh, which are simply amazing and then I splurged onto lash extensions. Beautique and Leah are fantastic! High quality lash extensions, adorable shop, and excellent service. This was my second time having Leah apply my lashes and i am a solid convert to the whole process. I don't even mind the 45 min drive from the city, it's 100% worth it. Yesterday I went for my first appointment at Beautique in Newburyport. The salon is beautiful and so relaxing. Alyssa gave me a brow tint and lash lift and tint. I was going for a drastic change which was a bit nerve wracking because I was choosing a whole new look just 2 days before my daughters wedding. This is hands down my FAVORITE SALON EVER. I've been to countless in Boston and NYC and Beautique surpasses them all. First of all, everyone is so nice. Second of all, they really know what they're doing--everyone is extremely knowledgeable about their craft. Raena is my go-to girl. She is absolutely amazing at eyebrow waxes. I've gone to her several times now and she has totally shaped, sculpted, and perfected my brows. I also got a facial with her and it was pretty life changing. I LOVE this spa! I went for the first time a couple weeks ago when I needed some waxing. I saw Jessika and she did a wonderful job! She didn't rush at all. She gave me some advice too for maintaining eyebrows at home too. It was actually a pleasant experience! While I was there, I made an appointment to come back the following week to have Leah do a facial for me. She really helped clean out my pores and educated me on a better skin care regimen for me. I went home with what felt like new skin and some new cleanser and cream to use. The results of the facial and new face care system are getting better by the day. Leah and I had a personal disagreement a couple of years ago, and at the time, I reacted in what I now realize was a passive aggressive, spiteful way. Had I to do it all over again, I would have let my stellar review from 2014 stand, and realize that Leah and I had had a disagreement that we would be able to hopefully someday mend. But that personal experience, which happens even among the best of friends sometimes, has nothng to do with the overall excellent quality and value of Leah's work and the work of the employees in her salon. So I stand by my original review from 2014 and deleted the other one. After a month or so passes, I will delete this one too and just leave the positive review. The eyelash lift came out better than I expected. Gina is precise and cares about results. She is very eyelash talented! The massage was great, relaxing.
