Disappointed in brow services at the MedSpa. This was my third time having my brows waxed and tinted by Vera. I keep thinking each experience is going to improve, but it hasn't. Vera is not warm and can be argumentative. This time, the narrow end of my brows had either been removed, or hadn't been tinted. She accepted my appointment to fix them, but refused to admit she had made a mistake and continued to pluck in the area that was already too thin. Definitely not going back. read more

We didn't get the service we asked for and paid for, when we called asking for them to even it out they told us that since it wasn't within 72 hours (the service was 2 weeks ago) they would be more than happy to do another consultation and charge full price but that they weren't willing to even out what they started or give a partial refund (we had asked for highlights and only the front was highlighted, it was completely unnoticeable in the back). They said that they gave the client what she asked for and she should've come back in within 72 hours if she didn't get what she wanted, despite the fact that she didn't notice it wasn't dyed at all in the back until 1-2 weeks after the appointment. I have been a long time customer with Interlocks and have enjoyed many massage sessions. (They were truly professional and did an amazing job!) Sadly, Interlocks stopped doing massage therapy. I wanted to provide feedback on my spa service. The appointment was for the Glo2Facial (75 minutes). When we first went in, I told the clinician it was my first time getting a facial. The service was to include a "lymphatic massage" which didn't happen at all. The woman ran her hands over my neck maybe 3 times at the most. The neck/shoulder/hand massage was cursory at best - very rushed, almost like an afterthought. The woman used the steam treatment, several types of facial creams, lights and two vibrating rollers. When the session concluded, it seemed very short and I asked what time it was. She said it was 6:40. I said that the appointment was 75 minutes and the woman responded that no facial was 75 minutes and that "they" book an extra 15 minutes so she has time to "flip the bed". As we walked out, she asked what I thought and I honestly told her it was "different" and that I didn't like it. She responded that I had just never had one before and didn't know what to expect. At the counter as I was settling the bill, I expressed all this information to the women at the desk. One of the ladies said I could come back for a re-treatment; however after this experience, that was not something I wanted to do. My expectation was to have clean, smooth facial skin and a thorough neck (lymphatic) massage as advertised. Instead, I left with grittiness on my face and jaw. It cost $200 for less than one hour. To say I am less than pleased is an understatement. The woman who performed the treatment came across as condescending and totally uncaring about the service. I have been a customer at Interlocks for several years. Unfortunately, my recent experience on September 22, 2023, and conversation with salon management today will ensure I never return. The service I always request is between $200-$300 so I have high expectations. The hair color I went in with was blonde, the color I left the salon with is several shades lighter, closer to grey than blonde. Worse, when I tried to schedule an appointment to correct the problem, the salon wouldn't book me in a suitable time frame. I had my husband call management and he did. He spoke with Jenni (?). He said that if he wasn't satisfied he would write a review to reflect the experience. This was not about money. Nevertheless, Jenni became defensive immediately (about the review and ???). Long story short, after my husband was called misogynistic (yikes!), he politely hung up. Do yourselves a favor and find somewhere you, the customer, might be appreciated. read more

Updated review!! WOW does Interlocks know how to do customer service!! Had a not great experience my first time around and the very next day, the general manager gave me a call - super apologetic and inviting me back in to fix my hair! I was connected with Erica the very next day (different stylist from the first) and WOW! Erica is incredibly detail oriented, asks tons of questions, and makes every cut with intention. She had me move my head around a ton to get every angle of my hair and was so focused on making my layers look a lot more even and fluid using a completely different cutting technique. She is a fantastic listener and conversationalist and did not make me feel uncomfortable for not being happy with my first cut, I was worried. The service was complementary but I gave Erica a tip, she so deserved it! I absolutely recommend booking with Erica! And commend Interlocks for knowing how to make things right! read more

I went here to get a blow out before a wedding. I was a bridesmaid. Worst experience I ever had. I ended up missing my makeup appointment and all the wedding photos because I had to get my hair fixed somewhere else. They gave me $50 back... which doesn't cover the amount I lost for the makeup service and not being in my cousin's wedding photos. My hair looked like it was slicked down to my head and a mullet. I had to keep calling over and over to get any kind of management on the phone. I got the BBL laser treatment with Nurse Jenn and it was amazing! Though at times the laser gave a zap of pain, Jenn throughout the entire experience made sure my comfort and tolerability was the most important thing. I go and see Chelsi whenever I decide " Hey! That box color for 10 dollars will totally come out like a salon !" Oh how I was wrong! But luckily I have her to save my butt whenever I make a terrible hair decision or just need a new look, she always comes through. I went from a brassy bleach blonde (real slim shady status) to a gorgeous silver blonde! I never thought I could pull that color off and even though I was nervous Chelsi put my thoughts at ease and it came out gorgeous! She spent 4 hours on my hair working from what I can assume through her lunch and fitting me in to come the rescue ! I love interlocks. The spa is amazing and everyone is a true professional. Easy to book appointments and not long wait times. Recently had a wonderful hydro facial With Kassandra and my skin looks the best it's ever looked. She made great recommendations and explained everything she was doing as she was doing it. No reactions no irritation -she knew exactly what my skin could tolerate and made wonderful suggestions related to products to buy. I bought a sunscreen moisturizer and a vitamin A or C night cream not sure what vitamin but I love it. The week before I had an amazing CBD massage with Vanessa and left feeling like a new woman. Just the right amount of pressure and the CBD really did the trick on my back -I have bad discs and have to be really careful about massages and Vanessa had me leaving interlocks feeling 200 times better than how I felt when I walked in. I'm so lucky to have a spa like interlocks close to me. Its no surprise it's been as successful as it's been for as long as it's been -Ginny has exceptional taste and procures wonderful products and talented professionals for all areas of the spa and salon. This is a gorgeous, spacious, well-run salon and spa. This was my first time there, and I went because my regular masseuse was all booked up due to Covid-19 capacity restrictions. Well, this will now become a second regular spot even though it's a 40 minute drive! I had a truly excellent massage with Vanessa, who took the time to ask questions and then really listened to what I needed. I had some pretty significant shoulder knots and am amazed that she was able to provide so much relief in such a short time. I also added on a foot treatment and it was heavenly. The spa is separate from the hair salon and nail area, which is nice as it keeps the area tranquil and quiet. Everyone there was friendly and happy, staff AND clients, and it was a really pleasant experience start to finish. I'm going to try a pedicure next! read more

Sophorn is such a pleasure to have a manicure or pedicure with and always does a great job. LeeAnn runs the spa and has been super helpful setting me up with Environ products for my skin. I have used Environ for years but support has been spotty and the products are hard to find. Now that Interlocks is carrying then, I can finally get the full array of products and use them the correct way. She is very helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I used to get Devacuts here and loved them. They were the best haircuts I'd ever had in my entire life. Unfortunately, my stylist left, and I haven't had any luck finding a new one here. The last stylist I booked a Devacut with didn't seem to know how to work with curly hair. (I should have left the minute she referred to my old (white) stylist's hair as an afro.) She insisted on a wet cut instead of the dry Devacut, and my hair looked so bad after she was done that I couldn't even wear it down out of the salon. read more

Pretentious, overpriced place. I walked in for a quick bang trim and was seen within 10 minutes by a stylist. After 180 seconds in the chair, my bangs were shorter and lighter and I was on my way. Imagine my surprise when I was charged $22 for this service at checkout. I've walked into many nice salons for the same service and have never been charged more than $15, with $10 being more the norm. Have had nice pedicures and manicures done here - I recommend these services. DO NOT DO WAXING HERE. The lady was rude, which made me uncomfortable. She didn't seem to really care much about making me comfortable while doing the bikini area - she was aggressive and did not do any pre or post moisturizing. Not to mention she also missed a few DOZEN hairs, and didn't even tweeze to get some out, so I had miscellaneous hairs I then needed to tweeze by myself at home! One star for the amazing haircut I received from Holly a few weeks back. I was so impressed, I scheduled to have my hair touched up this afternoon before I left for vacation. Tara handled the color. I walked out today with the opposite of what I asked for. In fact, I would have been happier with the end result of what a bottle of clariol would have done over how my hair looks right now. When I went back in they offered to "maybe" fix it today, but they don't give refunds. After five requests to get a refund, it was finally granted. I visited Interlocks for years when I lived in NBPT - nails, hair, facials, massages. When we moved 20 minutes south to NH I figured I'd find somewhere cheaper/closed. After a number of awful experiences (which are TMI for yelp) I figured you get what you pay for and so I happily drive the 20 minutes to NBPT for appointments. I've had mixed results for hair but just last week Katie fixed my grey roots and it's looking awesome. Leah is AMAZING for eyelash extensions and the best facials ever. Laura is BRILLIANT for waxing - minimal pain! Eva does phenomenal massages. Pedicures are expensive - $50 plus - but everything is spotlessly clean and the services are very thorough. After 7 years of using Interlocks, the reception team recognize my number and are super friendly and will squeeze me in for last minute appointments/put me on a waitlist. read more

Booked this salon for a girls day weeks in advance. When we got there, I told them I had the SNS powder on my natural nails. They said they could not accommodate the removal of the powder because they didn't have the dremel tool. However, the salon provides gel polish, and powder can be removed in the same way by filing the nail and soaking in acetone. (There is no warning on their website that states that they cannot accommodate removal of certain nail types, nor were we advised of this when we booked the manicures/pedicures.) The technician did offer to try to remove the powder, but only if I did an "express" pedicure, which would only include nail polish. I ended up declining this because I felt that I shouldn't have had to reduce the quality of the $65 pedicure. Additionally, the pedicure didn't even include massage, lotion, or exfoliation for the calfs- just a foot massage. I expected a lot more from an expensive pedicure at a supposed high-end salon, and I've gotten better ones for far less money at regular nail salons. That being said, the salon did remove the cost of my manicure from the group's bill and was accommodating with our group by providing cups for the drinks we brought. That's the main reason this spa is getting 2 stars. They really need to make it clear either on their website or upon booking that you must have "natural" nails when you get a manicure there. Overall, based on this experience I wouldn't come back here. read more

I didn't particularly know what type of cut I wanted so let Stacey do what she wanted. She asked me about general length and where I part my hair and then ended up making it gorgeous! I chose Interlocks based on their education and depth of offerings. I was NOT disappointed. I left looking awesome (as I witnessed everyone leaving looked great.) I had an makeup trial appointment yesterday for my wedding. Myself and my sister had our makeup done at Interlocks for her wedding 5 years ago and were very happy with the results so I decided to do a trial with interlocks for my own wedding. I showed the artist a few photos of what I wanted- a more dramatic smokey eye with dark browns or navy and told her I didn't want the typical "bridal look". Prior to the makeup application nothing was asked about my skin type etc and I think this may have led to the problems with the foundation. When the artist finished with my makeup I was shocked. The shadow went up extremely far to my brow bone, there was no highlighting and no blended wing on the sides. My large eyes looked extremely small. My brows were not filled in and my face was very slimy, pale and round looking with makeup sitting deep in my pores. The lip gloss was very heavy and uneven on my lips- and I had not said anything about wanting gloss. I told the artist this was not really what I was looking for and asked her to soften the shadow by the brow, fill in the brows, create a wing on the liner, and contour my face. She put some more light shadow on my browbone and filled in the brows a bit but said she does not contour on brides because it "doesn't look nice". I have a round face and contour every day. That is how I best like my makeup done and I explained this. She refused to do any more contouring or make the shadow heavier as this was "not a bridal look". I paid for the service and hoped that maybe it was just the lighting in the salon and fact that my hair was up that made it look so terrible. I drove to my parents house and asked my mother what she thought and she had no idea my makeup had even been done, she said it looked like less than my every day look. I asked my sister and she pointed out the lack of shadow and running foundation deep in my pores which now looked like craters. I took photos in both sunlight and indoor light and asked multiple people what they thought. Every single person agreed the makeup was poorly done and not what I asked for. I called the salon and spoke to the artist. She told me I "loved" the makeup when I left. I never once said that and had made a point to try to fix the many things I didn't like about it. She told me this is how she does all brides makeup and they love it. That's fine but it is not the look I asked for. She did nothing to try to rectify the situation so I asked what could be done in terms of a refund. She stated interlocks does not give refunds even if you are unhappy with the service and it is not what you asked for. I asked who else I could speak to and she said she was the manager. I asked when the owner was in and she told me she had no idea but that I could email her. I emailed exactly what I used here for my review. I was not mean but I was firm that this was not at all what I asked for and I had brought pictures in showing exactly what I wanted so there was no reason for the disconnect. I received horrible, condescending emails back from both the makeup artist AND the owner. The unprofessionalism by this salon is appalling to say the least! Attached below is the email response to my complaint: From Owner: "Dear Jillian, Since I'm at home recovering from illness, I am responding to you via email rather than by phone. Clearly, you are disappointed with the makeup service you received and I have no desire to keep your funds - nor offer you additional services. A refund will be issued by tomorrow. It is unfortunate that you chose a path of hostility and insults, instead of just conveying your disappointment in a tactful and graceful way. Despite the great care, service, and education that Christine provided you, you have responded with hostility and disrespect. With the ranting you've displayed one would think we did you immense harm... but we're talking makeup, here. I hope that as you move forward with your wedding planning, you learn to treat others with care and request changes and refunds with sincerity. I wish your fiancee a lifetime of happiness. Sincerely, Ginny Eramo" From Artist: "I had the opportunity to read your email and listen to your voicemail. The issues you are concerned with are an easy fix. The purpose of a trial is to give the artist and client the opportunity to create a look together that in the end is satisfactory to the client. I've had multiple services from Laura including waxing, microdermabrasion, and PCA peel. She's great. Punctual, attentive, knowledgeable, skilled, and fun to chat with. I highly recommend Laura. My only ding on the business is their lack of flexibility with their discounted offers. Last Christmas, I bought myself a series for a discount. Having done the PCA peels before, I thought that was what I was buying, but as it turned out, I was getting a series of microdermabrasions. The difference in price was not a lot, but Interlock wouldn't put that money towards an exchange for a series of peels instead. I would of paid the difference. I didn't like the microderm as much as the peels so to me, it became a double disappointment. The spa should be slightly more customer oriented. Situations like that make people who are spending hundreds, not tens of dollars, with a business to go find another, with a more flexible policy. read more

My experience with a lash lift and tint. I was very hesitant on doing this. First want to say I do like this salon/spa and they have expanded since I was last there. When doing a procedure such as lash lift I feel that the lashes should be inspected first. The girl who did mine said mine were good. I beg to differ, my lashes are weak and thin. Process was quick. I was not given any instructions when I left so good thing for google. When I went home I noticed the right eye lashes were all bent to the side. The left eye was ok, a very nice curl and they went straight up. Next day looked at them closely, the ends were all burnt looking, some areas even look broken. I thought and feel with any service a phone call from the facility to ask if I like them or any concerns is part of superior customer service. Which I did not get. I had a partial foil, cut and blow-dry with Michelle A., one of their master stylists. From the moment I entered the salon, everyone was very friendly and sweet. I absolutely loved Michelle! My hair was a disaster and she took the time to learn my history, talk about options and made some recommendations to get my hair back to healthy. We did a deep conditioner, and her highlighting came out beautiful! The cut looks amazing and my hair feels SO GOOD. The true test was the following day when I had to style it myself. It was a total breeze...the cut is so good that with very little effort, I achieved the same look as when I stepped out of her chair. And I threw away my old flat-iron for good! Was it expensive? A bit, but totally worth it. I scheduled two more appointments with her and will keep going back. Best hair experience ever. read more

My bridal hairstyle experience (a simple half-up style) was pretty bad - the braid was too tight, creating a bald spot, and the stylist didn't listen when I asked her to pin my bangs to cover it. I trusted her professional judgment, but, when I received my pictures back, the bald spot showed in almost all of them. The rest of my hair, which she curled, was limp and stringy after about an hour. I honestly can't look at my wedding photos without feeling incredibly ugly (and I'm usually not an insecure person). Edit: After I posted this review, the owner reached out to me with an apology and one of the marketing team offered to touch up some of the photos for me. This place has everything! Hair, nails, spa. It's a pretty penny, but it's in Newburyport and the girls here are really know their stuff and they are nice. I was kind of nervous going in their my first time how they would treat me since I was just a walk in client. I booked and appointment and when I went it they treated me like I've been going their for years. Really got to know what I've been doing with my hair and we figured out a new style and treatments for my hair. They do push a lot of other things to do and buy on you but that's their job so I understand. I will defiantly be back for when I want another day of pampering. read more
