I was impressed with the owner's (Michele Malek) experience, photo gallery, response time, service offerings, and convenient location. Since leaving the workforce over ten years ago, I imagined waking up, rolling out of bed, not doing my make-up (although I minimally used eye and lip cosmetics due to the nature of my job), and looking decent. However, about seven years ago, I decided to try microblading my thinning and shortening eyebrows, and my husband lovingly teased me about having Rottweiler eyebrows. The painless semi-permanent microbladed eyebrows usually lasted two to three years, with proper annual to no maintenance. I was set for a maintenance appointment when I suddenly discovered that my usual artist had retired. I was left in a lurch because I planned to get the maintenance done before traveling domestically and abroad from late last year. I contacted Beauty Babe to inquire about her microblading and ombré powder tattooing services, appointment availability, and cost. Michele's friendliness and reassurance for assistance came through her voice. She also described the difference between microblading and ombré powder eyebrows, and I quickly agreed to book an appointment to see for myself. On the appointment day, Michele sent me a message regarding directions, parking lot availability, and security in her salon. I didn't take any interior photos for privacy because there were other clients and artists, even though the salon had privacy partitions and separate rooms for tattooing. After measuring my eyebrows, Michele applied makeup to my faded eyebrows to show me the difference between the microblading and ombré powder techniques. My only concern was having my eyebrows look natural and not dramatic. She did a few tweaks, which enhanced the shape, applied the topical anesthetic, and then did her magic. Within a couple of hours, I emerged from the salon with perfect and natural-looking eyebrows or, as they say, "eyebrows on fleek." She gave me an After Care package with instructions, mild liquid soap, tissues, a small tube of Vitamin A&D ointment, and yummy Ferrero Rocher candies. I look forward to an initial touch-up appointment within the next six to eight weeks, just before I'll be "on the road" again. I was a bit leery when I arrived at her walk up building which is on Sheridan St. There is parking in front of the building. There are Korean bars on the bottom floor and a homeless man blocking one stairway. Fortunately, there was another staircase on the other side. Upon entering her studio , I was pleasantly stunned by the spacious, clean and attractive white, gray and pink surroundings. Everywhere is beautifully appointed. Michelle is a seasoned, friendly and talented artist. After a brief discussion of my needs and concerns, she quickly began to draw my eyebrows giving me an idea of shape and color. Let me just start by saying - I DO NOT have any other tattoos on my body. My gateway tattoo was tattoo eyeliner. I know - for someone who doesn't have any tattoo experience - why would I start with my eyes??? I was nervous - for obvious reasons - but Michele quickly put me at ease. Her salon was very clean, tidy, and professional. She explained the entire process to me before starting and told me about each numbing agent she would be using. When it finally came to the tattooing part (yes I tried to stay very still!) - it felt like a nice little scratch - like a satisfying back scratch. No pain. When I could tell the numbing was wearing off I just let her know and she applied more. She was very patient and accommodating to my pain tolerance. The entire process took about 3-3.5 hours for my initial session. Afterwards Michele also texts you a reminder on how to care for your new tattoo. I am in love with the final product and am thinking about going back for my eyebrows! Tip: Wear leggings and maybe a sweatshirt and socks. It gets cold in there. This was my second time visiting Michele however for a traditional tattoo. Just when I was thinking about a moon tattoo, she posted pics on her IG which made me think perhaps it was fate that first led me to her for my eyebrow tats. I have commitment issues (lol) so it took awhile for me to get the courage to finally decide to tattoo my eyebrows. SO DAMN GLAD I DID!!!! Michele is amazing! The service was about 3 hours so patience is a virtue in this instance, but the Beauty Babe salon has smooth tunes to keep you calm while you trust the process. She is careful and clean, so it's not hard to stay calm while your snuggled under a soft blanket. Believe it or not, I felt pretty relaxed despite my face being tattooed! Recently went for my touch up and just love the look of my powder brows. Michele was so sweet, easy to work with and really listened to my concerns and didn't try to push anything on me. This is the first time that I've been to Beauty Babe and Michele was awesome! The Salon is clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. There is also lots of parking right downstairs. Michele was very quick to respond to any of my questions. She is very detailed in her work and takes the time to explain everything from beginning to end. Before tattooing she goes into great detail with makeup to show you what it will look like. She does what you want and also gives her opinion which I really appreciated.
