Overall, I had a horrible experience while getting my nails done at Beauty Bar & Spa. Firstly, as seen in the picture, the nail tech drilled my cuticles until they were bleeding. This happened to multiple nails, and instead of the nail tech cleaning it up, she put nail glue over it so it hardened. As I left the salon, my nails hurt so bad that it hurt to simply wash my hands. It has been a few days, and my nails still hurt really bad. I have never had an experience quite like this and I will not be returning. They charged me almost $70 but couldn't even bother to clean up the blood on my finger caused by their excessive drilling and their recklessness. read more

I've been going to Beauty Bar for a few years now. They have a relaxing vibe going. The nail salon close to me is a hot mess and not relaxing so I go out of my way to get here. They do an amazing job. My gel manicure lasted three weeks with no chipping or peeling. Other salons I've had lifting of the gel within a week. Pedicures are lovely too. Do the hot stones. I recommend Beauty Bar and keep going back! I do recommend making an appointment but they do their best to accommodate walk-ins. read more

My nails were each uniquely shaped & had little bubbles after leaving the salon, & the top coat pealed off after 2 days. I was cut on 6/10 fingers and bled through multiple bandaids on this finger in particular... This nail salon also does not use clean (new) files between clients and reuses the nail Dremel filing tips, so these cuts made me very nervous. I have only ever been to nail salons in California so this may all be standard practice in Virginia. read more

First I have been going to Beauty Bar since 2017 and they have always been my go to for beautiful nails. Needless to say I am super disappointed. I scheduled a spa manicure and pedicure and was super excited. The tech removed my gel set and it left me with short nails even though my real nails underneath were long. That is not my issue though. The pictures say everything. The manicure was subpar for the cost and I received no hot towels wraps and the massage was 20 seconds per hand. This was definitely not a spa manicure even though I paid for it. She made my cuticle bleed and now it's swollen and infected. As you can see from the picture it's a horrible job. I had my nails done on a Sunday evening and these pictures are from the very next Tuesday morning. Nails are not that even and the paint is coming off substantially. I called to request this fixed and there was no empathy and not even an apology! Instead I must go in and pay 25.00 to get gel polish (not a manicure just polish) so they don't look like crap like this. 25.00 for polish. I don't mind paying as I get the full on spa pedi etc. but I do expect some level of customer service. I should have gone with my gut because my normal tech was not too happy that I chose to get a spa manicure with gel nails taken off because I wanted to get my nails healthy again and wanted to stop using gel fills. Will not be back. Especially when there are just as many high end nail bars around the area. Pictures don't lie. Super mad right now that this happened. Just my experience. I was a regular there every two weeks but somehow I don't think there is a care in the world about that. If you think this is funny you must work there or have affiliation with this establishment which proves further there is no care whether they retain customers (if that's the case). Really disappointed in my nails. Not even a week after, the gel is discolored. I went for a fill and the technician said she could do a design, but then repeatedly failed. Another technician showed her how to do it, but then she wiped off the design done by another technician to do her own and after 10 minutes finally admitted she couldn't do it. I was fine with changing the design, I just had wished she would have said something beforehand so I could have changed the color. She ended up doing her own design, which was good, but I left disappointed. Also, every time I've gotten gel done they have applied a base coat but I do not remember her applying one. I also had wanted my nails filed shorter than they were but she completely skipped over that. Overall, I was just extremely disappointed for what I paid. read more

My FAVORITE nail salon by far. They do everything right. Customer service is always amazing. Great selection of polish colors and brands. Very clean You know that no matter which tech you see you will be provided with the same exact service. They don't do the pushy or hidden up charging like at a lot of the other salons. I must say I gave up on this place after a bad experience and the way the owner handled it. But after hearing the owner was gone decided to give it another try. I was lucky enough to have been partnered with Rose. I have never had a better gel manicure. It has been a week later and my nails still look fabulous! Usually by now, the base would have grown and I would feel a ridge but it feels and looks like my natural nail. Also, usually I would also feel the edges from the white french tips, but my entire nail is smooth! I am beyond thrilled with the quality of manicure I received from Rose and will be returning again. The salon itself is still clean and organized. The tools come to the table in a sealed package though it clear the files are reused. I will say the atmosphere is very quiet. I recently moved to the Ashburn area and I was looking for a new nail salon to go to. I called ahead for an appointment, and arrived promptly. The salon was very clean and well kept. Rose immediately saw me, helped me pick out colors, and prepped me for my pedicure. She offered me water and was very attentive throughout the whole process. The massage for my calves and feet was wonderful. The manicure was done beautifully and she rescued my nails (I had previously picked my gel manicure and damaged a couple of my finger nails). Going through the COVID-19 virus was very scary and has hurt a lot of small businesses. I'm so glad they have reopened. I felt very safe wearing my mask and see everyone that came in was wearing a mask. I go to Vicky, she is so nice and does such a great job. Beauty bar is my favorite nail salon in Ashburn. Vicky is the technician I go to and she's wonderful. Gel polish lasting length varies depending on my activity. I can get 6-14 days depending on if I wear gloves when gardening, washing dishes, digging in the dirt, etc. Vicky does an excellent, efficient job and she's friendly and welcoming. You can't expect miracles from any gel polish if you don't take care of it. I've read some of these other reviews which are harsh. If you wear gloves when exposing fresh gel to lots of water your polish will last longer. Beauty bar is clean and a good value for the price. read more

Let me tell you why you should NEVER get a Brazilian bikini wax or any other service at "Beauty Bar and Spa", there was no spa like quality to the traumatizing experience I suffered today and there is truly no better word to describe what I had happen to me. It was so awful I asked the lady to stop and left crying. She didn't wear gloves, she didn't provide a modesty cover, and it was the most painful experience I've ever had. With every rip of my skin she dumped half a bottle of baby powder on me followed by some unmarked bottle of "gel". I left feeling violated and dirty. I couldn't get home fast enough to soak in a warm bath. My wax is incomplete because I couldn't communicate with the lady (never told me her name) who didn't speak English. Her bare fingernails were digging into my vagina, if that isn't unsanitary and unpleasant I don't know what is. My skin is burned and extremely swollen and I will be filing a complaint with the board of cosmetology and the better business bureau immediately. I have FINALLY found my nail salon! I have had many bad experiences at various nail salons in the area. This salon is not only extremely clean, but the ENTIRE staff is really nice! I went to Gia based on the other reviews but my friend's tech was just as good. This was by far the best mani and pedi I have ever received. My friend and I decided to treat ourselves and I am so glad we decided to give this salon a chance. Thank you Beauty Bar for making my Birthday Treat so enjoyable! I will definitely be back! UPDATE- that was my review but after two very bad visits, I have changed opinion. The first bad visit consisted of the tech double dipping during a bikini wax. I've been to Beauty Bar twice now - once for a mani/pedi and the other for a mani. The pedi was pretty good but I thought the callus removal could have been more thorough and the "massage" was a bit disappointing. While it may not be "PC" I would really like it if I could find someone who spoke some English - the girl doing my nails spoke so little English that she had to call the owner over to translate what I wanted, which wasn't complicated. The first mani - a shellac - wasn't too bad, but it peeled within about two days. The second mani was HOrrIBLE! Not only was it 20 minutes later than my scheduled appointment, but also took over an hour. The girl didn't say half a word to me and didn't put the polish on my full nail. On most of my nails you could see the actual nail for a good 1/4 inch on the sides... I will use my trusty Yelp friends to find a better place... read more

I called to make an appointment a couple weeks ago and the receptionist definitely put a sour taste in my mouth. I was able to make an appointment for that day, even though it was about an hour later than I was hoping, my fault for procrastinating. Once I got there the receptionist (not sure if this was the same person as on the phone) was pleasant and helped me pick out a polish that was exactly the color I was looking for. My experience was pleasant and everything was clean. However, I had the bumpiest and most uneven gel manicure I have ever had. I was realy hoping it would last the less than 2 week until my nails got done for my wedding, however they were looking pretty rough by the time my next appointment came around. This full service nail spa is the cleanest, most professional spa in all of Loudoun Co. They don't rush you and are very thorough. For callouses, they have this miracle lotion they put on beforehand where the dead skin just melts away. The owner, Lynn, always remembers me even though I only visit VA twice a year. I loved this place. Kim always did an excellent job. BUT upon removal of my liquid gel nails, they wouldn't let me soak... and wanted to drill them off. I didn't really press it since it was going to be quicker. The lady who did this, drilled so far on three different nails - 2 weeks later, I can barely use them. Today at work I barely hit the side of the table with my pinky. And dropped in pain. My nail started to bleed and now looks like this. I can't move or use the finger. I've only used Beauty Bar and Spa for their nail services. I always make an appointment and they're always ready for me when I arrive. Prices are quite reasonable and techs are good at reading whether you want conversation or quiet. The staff usually remembers me when I come in, which is a nice touch. The manicures and pedicures are pretty decent. I did have some difficulty getting the staff to understand what I wanted when I only wanted my nails buffed, not polished. Once they thought that meant I wanted clear nail polish. They've got it figured out now. My major complaint - and it does stop me from going in as often as I'd like - is how long their manicures and pedicures take. Maybe my old place in Alexandria was super fast, but I've easily spent two hours here for a buff manicure and French pedicure. read more
