I recently wanted a hair color change, I decided on Beauty Bird Lounge after looking up a few places and they recommended Hannah. I went to my very first appointment, which was a hair consult. I parked in front of Beauty Bird and texted Hannah that I was ready to go in whenever she was ready to see me. She responded that she had forgotten to let me know that she was actually in another salon location right across the street, called Bobby Pin Beauty Studio. Okay, no worries, we all tend to occasionally be forgetful. So I went across the street and did my hair consult. Before leaving, just to be extra sure, I asked Hannah if I should meet here at Bobby Pin for my appointment, OR at the original location across the street, Beauty Bird. She confirmed to meet at Beauty Bird. On my appointment day, I arrived at Beauty Bird. Again, I texted Hannah to let her know I was outside. I waited close to 30 minutes in my car before she finally responded that we were supposed to meet at Bobby Pin. I responded back kindly letting her know that she confirmed to meet at Beauty Bird, but fine, I didn't want to argue or get off on the wrong foot. So I went across the street (again). The actual hair coloring and styling went fine. But the next few days, I realized the color wasn't super on par with what I was envisioning. And the worst part was that I started to notice my haircut was actually done very poorly. My bf even noticed! And this says a lot coming from him. I texted Hannah to let her know that I wanted my hair fixed. A day before the next appointment, she texted me saying she was feeling ill. So we rescheduled. The morning of the rescheduled appointment, I texted to confirm that I was looking forward to our appointment. She responded that she totally forgot to put me in the books so she forgot that she had an appointment, and then followed up with stating that she doesn't think we were a good fit. So she left me with my hair color half done and a really bad haircut. I found another salon with a new stylist, and what a relief! She fixed my hair. And I can confirm that the haircut by Hannah was terrible because this new stylist asked me, "...Did you cut your own hair? A lot of clients come and ask to fix their hair after trying to do it on their own at home." Ugh...Maybe this was a blessing in disguise? If it weren't for Hannah's unprofessionalism, I wouldn't have found my current stylist. I wasn't going to leave a review, but felt that I should share my experience since I paid a lot of money to Hannah/Beauty Bird. In the end, even though I did like Hannah as a person, she lacked a lot of important skills, namely, hair styling and communicating. In retrospect, as I type this all out, there were a lot of flags from the very beginning. And I feel a little disrespected, like wow...how many times did Hannah forget about me? So, I suggest to really sit down and have a conversation with Hannah before booking her. From my experience, she seems like she's very picky with who she chooses as her clients. read more

It was just a 5 mins conversation that I honestly didn't find meaningful or useful (I could have just sent them my hair pictures which I did), but anyways I show Hannah the hair color I want, she said she can do it so we go ahead and schedule the appointment a week out. During the hair consultation, Hannah said she will send me her recommendations of hair products, but I heard nothing the whole week and eventually I reached out to Hannah 1 day before our appointment just to confirm everything is on schedule. She confirmed with a "Yes". Now 1 hour before the appointment, I'm ready to head out for my hair appt. Hannah texted me and said she can't achieve the hair color so she can no longer do it, she just wants to be honest. HELLO, why are you telling me right before our appt instead during our "hair consultation", I could have scheduled my appt with someone else a week ago. Wasting my time. My daughter hates her hair and won't leave her room and keeps a hoodie on during Zoom classes.. It was done by Pepper/Rachel Przepiora. I had sent her photos of my daughters hair and the blonde she wanted prior. More like 50 shades of orange. She started at 12:30 pm and we went home at 9:30pm and she still didn't finish. And I'm really upset because now she want to charge me extra on top of the $454 we already paid her, to finish her job. This review is for the entire team at the Beauty Lounge in Brentwood especially my stylist Hannah Can I just say, this place really wowed me. The salon is team oriented and professional all the way. Upon entering the salon the presentation was immaculate. Super clean, everything is updated and fresh to reflect what I would expect in a Salon. I was greeted by everyone I went through a consultation with Hannah. Hannah was confident, experienced and just naturally brilliant. She went to work right away and spent the better part of the day performing a color correct and color treatment (also a PM Shines). This girl did not disappear from my chair once, she didnt answer any phone calls and did not text. In 2012?!?! COME ONE GUYS! THATS HUGE! Super courteous and professional all the way. She did not stop to take a lunch, or have someone take over. I finally insisted she tend to any personal business while I was processing but she was quick and never left my side. Shawna and Robin were super friendly and kept checking up on me and it was just nice knowing so many people are being attentive to my needs. I mean really, just the experience of this place was overwhelming. To say this team and their abilities impressed me would be an understatement. A group of super hard working and talented, knowledgeable professionals that are all about catering to your needs, they go above and beyond achieving just your desired look. Tracy! She's so freaking awesome! I'm so glad that I found her! I've been wanting a new hairstyle and change, but I was always hesitant because of past experiences at other salons. I have extremely thick curly hair (which can be challenging for some stylists), so I usually get uneasy around new people cutting my hair because I end up with a mushroom bob. Nope, not with her! :) She gave me nice long layers and tapered it perfectly for me. I asked her if she's ever worked on "mixed" or "ethnic" hair like mine, and she said she's worked on "ALL hair types," which is very impressive. I've been debating writing this review but since I found this salon on yelp and I wish I hadn't I felt like there needed to be more honest reviews on here. I got my hair done by Jade last month and I wanted to go from a medium blonde to platinum blonde. Also I asked her to cut my mid back length hair to my shoulders. Jade absolutely destroyed my hair and instead of coming out platinum it was grey like I was wearing a witch wig. It looked like that trend which I know some people like but I specifically asked for it to not be grey but a cool toned blonde. The cut also had issues and more than once I found pieces 1 inch or longer that were just randomly missed it was totally uneven. The worst part was when I contacted her telling her I was at first ignored (funny how making and appointment was so easy but when there's an issue no response). Finally after a few days I texted her again and with no apology from her. She basically told me to spend more money with her to fix it. Are you joking? At this point I already spent $340 to have my hair ruined by her. Her customer service is completely lacking I wish I never came here and would warn anyone to stay away from Jade unless you want grey damaged hair and the only solution is to pay more for her mistakes. Great experience here! Contacted the salon and made an appointment via Yelp messaging. The owner, Lorraine, was the person who I scheduled with. They contacted me within 1 hr! Afterwards, they followed up with text messaging with all the details (date, time, hair stylist name). Upon arrival, you're greeted with a very open, white salon. Brightly lit and music playing. Nice atmosphere. They even offered refreshments! Full size water bottles, keurig coffee, and that day I was given an enormous donut. It was delicious--especially on an empty stomach . Ali was the hair stylist who did balayage and baby highlights on my hair. She was easy to talk to, gentle on my scalp, and offered different options to tackle my situation (lots of new growth on my roots, old highlights on my ends, and a weird layered haircut). I never felt rushed for the entire 3 hr session that I was there, nor did Ali push me to purchase any of their products like many other salons I have been to. The other ladies working there were friendly and personable. It was relaxing and the cool breeze through the open door was great. I will be returning to lighten my hair again. BEWARE!! Do not come here unless your hair has already been styled or long and straight!!! You will leave feeling like garbage, and without anyone wanting to/or being qualified to touch you! So I made a first-time appointment here. I have VERY curly hair. I called them and made an appointment for highlights and a trim. My hair had been under a hat all day, so it was tangled and kinky... the look of disgust on Ali's face was undeniable. Okay, fine. I don't go to the salon beautified. That's what I want coming OUT of the salon. But whatever. So, next. I have a bob. I was told neither she nor anyone else there does short haircuts??? I've never heard of that before. I've never heard of anyone in an entire salon not be able to do a blunt bob. Ever. But I said fine. I'll just do the color then. Annoyed, but my patience in still intact, I had to explain to her, that you don't just brush curly hair while it's dry. I said, usually the hair dresser would wash it, and work through the curls while it's wet, then take the five minutes to blow dry it before applying color. She said she didn't have time for that. That makes no sense since I was no longer getting a cut. That would have taken an extra 10-15 minutes. Tops. Between her tone/look on her face/unwillingness to touch hair that isn't long and silky-straight, I felt some curly-hair discrimination or something going on here. Would never come back. I walked out. Now I just have to figure out how to get a refund for my coupon I purchased! And oh yeah, adding this on, the lady in the chair who was there when I walked in had short hair. Mary was my stylist and she was amazing! She worked so hard on my hair and it turned out absolutely gorgeous! I will NEVER let anyone ever touch my hair unless it's Mary! She made me feel so comfortable right away, she was very patient with my requests and she did an awesome job explaining her techniques and what she was doing every step of the way! I always get anxiety when I go to a new place, I have really thick and long hair, it's easy for someone to get over-whelmed with it. I had such a great experience with my Brazilian wax with Lorraine! She is professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel very comfortable and at ease! I liked that she provided a wipe if needed as well as a cover to put on your lap before/after. Ali did my hair in about 3 hours and it was all well worth it! The salon is a beautiful white walled, black chairs, long extended mirrors, with a welcoming drink when you walk in. Hi ladies I hate to do this to a salon with near perfect review but after a quick decision to get a haircut here after an eyebrow wax I left down $245 with the worst haircut I have ever gotten in my entire life. I returned to the salon unhappy and they fixed my uneven and choppy layers as best as they could but didn't offer a refund or any additional compensation. I was refunded several weeks after my hair was repaired for the haircut ($65) and given free waxing coupons (1 bikini and 2 eyebrow) by the owner who referenced my unhappy reaction on "social media" and I was prompted to update my review after the holiday weekend. I've been to Beauty Bird twice; first time in late-2015 with Tracy and again two months ago with Jessica. Both ladies are great! JESSICA IS AMAZING! Extremely knowledgeable and personable. It was my first time trying a shorter lob style and she definitely made me feel comfortable throughout the process. She explained how different cuts and angles can frame a face and helped picked what looked best for my face and how I treat my hair (which is basically never styling my hair lol). She also provided advice on products that can provide volume for my thin and limp hair. She took her time cutting my hair. When I asked how to show me how to style a lob haircut, she took her time to teach me how to curl my hair properly to frame it better and add more texture. I admire her knowledge and you can totally tell she cares about her clients. Definitely will be coming back to her! read more

I wished I saw the reviews below about Hannah before I got her assigned to my haircut. After waiting a year to get a cut due to COVID I was really looking forward to some pampering. Right before my appointment I got a call from the owner that my appointment needed to be moved due to a color correction taking too long. Bummer but okay, it happens and she kindly offered a 10% discount for the change. Next day I went in and while Hannah was very nice, her mask was below her nose half the time (one of the reasons I avoided salons until I was vaccinated). I showed her two images of simple long bobs (collar bone length) that I've had before and knew worked for me to chop my then mid-back length hair. She started in the back but once she cut my front length I knew it was too late: it was way too short. I have naturally thin wavy hair and anything above my shoulders requires way more damaging maintenance with straightening and blow drying. I feel like I look a lot more like a suburban Karen than a modern professional. With a lot of tough life stuff happening I was really just looking for a confidence boost in my cut and now I'll have to get creative until it grows back. read more

I was little nervous getting my hair done because this was the first time I ever bleached/dyed my hair, but I'm so happy I decided to get my hair done. I found this place on Yelp after a hair disaster I had at a previously at a local salon. I am so glad i decided to book an appointment with Marry! I booked via yelp with Lorraine, it was an easy experience and she was very helpful with finding a date that worked with Mary's availability and my schedule. I came in on Saturday for my appointment and my first thought was how cute the salon was! A woman greeted me and told me Marry would be with me shortly. She was really nice and made me feel welcomed. The Beauty Bird Lounge is actually a room inside the Parlour Hair Salon (which the decor is super modern and very chic). The room itself is very neat and calming, but I felt a little iffy because of its super close proximity to the main entrance (makes me a little nervous every time she opened and closed the door that those passing by might be able to peek in). Then again, at the other place I usually go to, they only have a curtain separating the room and the front... 5 stars for Lorraine definitely. She is super friendly and very professional and does a really good job in keeping a conversation to make one feel more at ease. She also uses aromatherapy to help with relaxing before a procedure and walks you through whatever she is doing. I'm not sure how I feel about that because she did warn me every time she was going to pull the wax strip...sometimes knowing when increases anxiety. She's also not as speedy as my usual person (but it might be because her conversations are so engaging!) and works on smaller sections at a time so I think the prolonged time/more strip pulling increases the pain slightly. With certain procedures, you really just want to get in and out. Overall, I am very pleased to have found her and she will definitely be my go to esthetician if I'm in the area. read more
