I get a hair wash and then a haircut with layers. I love getting the hair wash and the give a mini scalp massage. So relaxing. They really listen to what you want, but I am usually more chill. Not recommended. way too strong for the color chemicals. no cover at all. meaning after they applied the chemical to your beautiful hairs, it just left in the open. anything in your surrounding will have a chance get to your hair while waiting. especially you catch in a busy time. not sure why they don't put some kind of plastic film, shrink wrap, or that head dome just to protect your exposure from other debris like people haircut or something. I would go somewhere else to color or anything other than basic haircut. also, for some reason they don't wash your hair before or after the cut, even I asked, prior to apply the color. even they have the washing stations for whatever purpose they used for, or for some kind of special guests only. read more

I called to try to make an appointment to get my hair dyed. I was told to just come in. I just needed to get my roots done. I went in and was quickly seated, told the stylist what I needed and they got to work. Minimal conversation, totally fine. When they were done putting in the dye, other customers were coming in. 2 other ladies and I were asked to get up and move to the waiting area while they tended to the new customers. I felt this was really odd. We're all sitting there with heads full of dye while people are coming and going and waiting to be seen. Another woman wanted to get highlights but was told they couldn't do it right then because she needed an appointment. She told them she tried to make an appointment but was told to just come in. And now that she's there, they wouldn't do it because she needed an appointment. After my hair was washed, the stylist blow dried my hair but didn't use a brush, just ran their fingers through my hair. Cost $67 read more

Hello manager, I do not appreciate your response and you modifying the facts to cover up. You yelled at me and humiliated even before I could express. I'll let the pictures speak for the service I received. And I said it's ok let's do highlight as I didn't know what ombré was. It's ok for customers to not know. And once you explained I never asked for it again. I asked her about blue shades and how long it's going to take. She decided to not answer, so I tried to break my English and see if she could follow. That's customer trying to help your stylist and valuing her service rather than her not understanding English. You humiliated and yelled at me in front of all clients for asking these basic questions which your stylist was not able to answer. And if cold water was necessary, your stylist never warned me at all. Customers are going to have questions and your job is to fill-in for your stylists if they don't understand English. About earrings, I had asked you if I should remove them and you said no. And your stylist didn't offer to remove the blue color off my earrings. She asked me to go home and wash it myself at first. To which I asked if there was anything she had that would help remove the stain. She then finally removed the stain. My brother had similar bad experience btw interacting with you and dealing with your arrogance. Also you apologized and admitted your stylist was at fault when I was paying at the front desk. You switched there completely. Do you remember? You were just trying to protect your stylist in front of her and other customers. And the moment it was you and me alone you flipped. Haven't been to this place for 5-7 years bc they seem to not like working with women's hair. I think the labor intensiveness & time it takes to work with long hair is not what the stylist like to do & the outcome shows. My daughter wanted curls for her Senior portrait & initially she did it herself. Later we did a re-take & this was another sitting fee so we thought let's curl her hair at a hair salon. I think the time, money & lack of the stylist listening to the customer's preference was a complete waste. Her sparse curls were not set with hair spray, so by the time the photo session took place, her hair was flat. The stylist also didn't pay much attention to details, like parting the hair straight. I'm so happy that I found Wink Hair Studio! I was looking for a hair salon closer to where we moved and Wink Hair Studio popped up in my search and had great reviews so I wanted to give it a try! I stopped by on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty empty - lucky me! I was able to get a haircut right away. My hair stylist was great - she took her time, was very detailed, and I love that she listened to how I want my bangs to be cut. I've gone to many hair stylists where they don't listen and cut my bangs a lot shorter than I asked. It was a great experience and I was happily surprised by the price point! It's hard to beat that price so I decided to ask about the cost of getting my hair re-colored and made an appointment with Jenny. My appointment was on a Friday at 4pm and it was super busy at the salon! There were a lot of people waiting to get their hair cut. (Note to self - go get a hair cut on an earlier weekday if I ever need one so I don't have to wait in line!) Jenny asked for inspiration pics and also listened to what I wanted. I asked her for her recommendation in some areas and I'm glad I did. I'm happy with how my hair color turned out, and especially for the price! It's very reasonable! I found Jenny when I moved to the tri-valley at the beginning of 2020. I initially came from a salon in San Jose. Yes, people in SJ were good but talk about breaking the bank every time I go. I would only go once a year because it was so dang expensive. I even thought about going to my natural hair color so I wouldn't have to keep walking around with brassy, year old, unmaintained hair. I went to Jenny initially to get a babylight/balayage situation and because she's so reasonably priced, I'm able to see her about every 3 months for a tone/trim for upkeep. I love her and my hair! I don't miss San Jose salons at all. I've seen her only 3 times and I'm shocked she remembers me and our previous conversations because she is crazy busy and probably would see a bunch of people everyday. I would recommend making an appointment. The first 2 times I went, I went on a weekday. During those times, her salon was full and her phone was ringing off the hook. The last time I went, I went on Saturday and her phone was ringing, there were people waiting outside because all the waiting chairs inside were full, people coming through walk-in would be asked to come in few hours later. So, you'll get what you paid for... $25-$35 for a cut. I made an appointment for 5, was asked to wait a little. They started at 5:25. I asked for a trim, layers, and curtain bangs. She readily said okay, marked on my back where i wanted the cut, and she seemed confident so I went with it. Also who am I kidding? I don't know how to cut hair! I'm not going to micromanage. But after I noticed that she was going to do my bangs without asking me about my part preference (I had my hair in a hat and my part was crooked), ... I intervened. I also saw that other hairdressers asked their clients about their part. She kept trimming from where she originally cut it so my hair is way shorter than I expected (there goes all my COVID hard work). Also, nothing is even, it's not thinned out, my "curtain bangs" are wispy, and normally i don't care about hair, it will grow out .. but this just makes me kind of sad. Because I'd rather have long bedraggled hair than go back to eighth grade. Oh. Another thing that bothered me was she put no hair protection product in my hair before she began straightening it to the point where it STEAMED even though my hair was dry. I think it's a great place for kids and people who don't care about their hair. I'm not dropping the name of the person although i will say i haven't seen her name in the 5-star reviews. The reason why I would give them a 5 stars is perhaps I have been going to Wink for the past 10 years! Just like any salon with multiple hairstylist, you can pretty much spot which one you prefer after you have experienced all of the stylists. Ms Jenny is incredible and yes she's busy and in demand but she would always make sure you are taking care off ... if you set the appointment ahead of time and you happen to walk in and she's still with somebody, she always ask if another stylist will work .. you can just say Yay or Nay:) I was reading some of the reviews and I get it .. some are upset because of service but so far which is on the last 10 years -- I never had issues with their service and Ms Jenny and the rest of the sytlist is great! read more

Sooo, I've been overdue to get my hair done in a long time. The last time I had my hair professionally dyed or cut was about 3 years ago. With the covid situation, everyone's trying to do their own DIY haircuts and dyes, which doesn't always turn out nice lol. I got sick in November and having my hair super long and messy made me feel even worse, so I chopped it all off on my own. I didn't care whether it was uneven, I just wanted it gone. After a few weeks, I came back to my senses and realized I needed to fix this asap! I contacted Jenny who was able to help me out. Jenny is amazing! She is so sweet and kind, easy to talk to. She doesn't try to sell you short. She even offered me water and chocolates, such a sweetheart! She made the whole process smooth and quick! We agreed that I like to have my hair low maintenance so we decided to do the balayage so that it's less work when it grows out. I was also worried my hair would fall out bc Ive been having issues with that lately. But my hair wasn't that damaged after the bleaching bc she put so much protectant. I've been coming to this salon for years. Originally came as a walk in just for a quick trim. Once I tried their deep conditioning treatment and saw how much care they put into each appointment, I've come here for regular trims. $35 for a women's trim and blowout can't be beat! I've always gotten a same day appointment and been treated kindly in the salon. I can't say much about their color, but this is a good place to go in between seeing your colorist to save some $$! read more

I love love Wink, it is a very low key non pretentious salon. I followed my hair dresser Amy here and she is that rare unicorn, she has brought my hair back from the dead. So I will follow her wherever she goes. My hair is curly and difficult to manage for some stylist, not for Amy, I leave that salon with silky hair. However, I want to say that the ladies that work there are all wonderful. They are skilled at cutting, hair dye and all kinds of styles. I can finally say, I have found my salon. It is so hard to find a good and experienced colorist that does not charge an arm and a leg in the Bay Area. Jenny did a color correction on my hair and NAILED the exact color I was asking for. I have really thick hair, but Jenny spent every minute she had with me and she paid attention to the littlest details. She didn't pass me onto an assistant like most places do. She does everything by herself from start to end. All the workers there are so professional and sweet. They clean the salon from corner to corner once they are closed (I know this because I was the last customer there). It's hard to find a salon that does good work and is affordable. I almost don't want to write this review because this is the best kept secret, but people deserve to have good hair charged at a decent price. I called in on a Monday night to ask if they accept walk-ins for 615PM as I badly needed a haircut. Being a mom of 2, I haven't had time for pampering, so when they said YES! It felt like I was approved for a vacation. My stylist was Sarah, she was accommodating. Washed my hair and did a great job with my A-line bob. I showed her a picture and it was exactly how I like it. She was meticulous and took her time to make it perfect, once in a while she would ask my input about the length and style.
