I worked with Raman for my bridal hair and makeup services. Raman is very passionate about her work and took the time to figure out what looks and products would work best with my skin/face. I appreciated that she worked with me to figure out what my look would be instead of forcing her opinions and traditional options. We landed on a classic, elegant look that will stand the test of time in our photos and videos from the event. My wedding day look stayed intact through all the pre-wedding photoshoots, during the ceremony and through the changeover for the reception. She came to the venue and helped me refresh my look for the evening portion as well. Raman was fairly responsive when trying to coordinate for our trial and the days leading up to the wedding weekend and on the day of as well. I would recommend Raman for any events and encourage folks to over communicate timelines/events to ensure both parties know what the expectations are. I also found that giving her ample space and a calm environment helped both us get into the zone and allowed us to have a lovely morning as I got ready for my big day. As mentioned I couldn't be on the phone because it was crunch time logistically, as I was handling so many logistics for my brother's event. Still I was texting Raman. After Raman agreed to hold the MUA until 5pm at 1:28pm, she said she Jassi wasn't available at 1:41pm. -------------------------------------------- I want to warn people about this vendor. I hired her for my wedding in 2024 and there were several things that she fell short on: 1. She forgot bobby pins to do my hair...on my wedding. She was my hired makeup and hair artist. So on the day of my wedding when its supposed to be a calm time, unfortunately I had to scramble to go and grab pins from my aunts home. 2. She let me know she would bring fresh flowers for my hair on my wedding day, she also forgot those on the day of my wedding. 3. She placed my small/medium tikka on my head, but unfortunately she did not secure it in a manner that a professional would. On my actual wedding day, when I was bending down to matha tek, my tikka popped off-- which was very embarrassing. 4. She was confused about where we were meeting on the day of my jaggo and for some reason thought that I would be coming to her in Livermore, even though my event was in Merced and we had already discussed that she would be coming to Merced. She was able to make arrangements to come to Merced, but it added additional stress. 5. She talked about herself throughout my hair and makeup, boasting about herself and complimenting herself 6. She asked me why do we need to start so early for hair and makeup on the day of my wedding, and then she herself made me 30 min+ late on the day of my wedding. The redeeming quality about her work is that she is able to work well on brown south asian skin, her skin makeup was soft and dewy (though my eyes were smudged before I even got to my ceremony...which is not normal for me). I am a person that really cares about skin with makeup so against my better judgment, I decided to hire her for myself and my mother for my brother's engagement. This was booked months in advance. Fast forward to May 2026, I get a call from Raman less than 24 hours before the booking. She tells me that her mother-in-law is not well so she won't be able to make it. Then she says she does have a "senior" artist who can replace her. I tell her I'm sorry to hear about the situation with her mother-in-law, I ask her who the senior artist is. She says her name is Jassi.... I asked her what her last name is and Raman said she didn't know. I then asked her if she has an Instagram and then she also said she does not have an Instagram or anywhere that I could see her portfolio. I told her I needed some time to think about it and Raman sent me some pictures that she claimed to be Jassi with no last name's work. (It gets worse) At so late in the game, I was already handling so many logistics for my brother's ceremony. I asked Raman to give me until five to get back to her. She obliged, though she was putting pressure on me stating that "Jassi" wanted to confirm ASAP because she was considering another client. I asked Raman to give me Jassi's contact information, and Raman said that it was too late because Jassi has already booked with another client due to "Jassi" not feeling comfortable because I didnt "trust her." All screenshots are attached. this happened within a matter of 20 minutes, so it's safe to say this is suspicious at best and a blatant lie at worst. Raman's contract states that she will provide a "senior" makeup artist in her absence, she wasn't even able to follow through on that. I took a look at Raman's social media, and I found what happened in reality is that Raman ACTUALLY booked a bride on the day of my event. So her mother-in-law was not ill, Raman actually just wanted to go with the booking that had more pay. I have attached the screenshots below of her working with the other client, multiple vendors also posted her working with the client on the day of my brother's engagement. That being said, I would be weary of this vendor. She is unprofessional and a liar, and no level of artistry can redeem that. The worst part of it all, is she charges luxury prices-- 1100 was what she charged 2 years ago for hair and makeup. Whats the point of charging luxury prices if you dont even have bare minimum professionalism and character? She is the type of person that gives MUA a bad reputation. read more

I hired Raman for my wedding weekend, including my sangeet and wedding day makeup. On the positive side, I was very happy with my final wedding look. Raman is clearly talented, and the wedding makeup photographed beautifully. She understood the overall bridal look I was hoping for, and I felt beautiful on my wedding day. That said, my experience was mixed. The biggest challenge was timing. Both my sangeet and wedding day ran later than planned, which resulted in me missing portrait time that I had been looking forward to. Since I did not do a separate pre-wedding photoshoot, I was hoping to use those windows during the wedding weekend for couple photos. Unfortunately, because of delays, those opportunities were lost. I was also less happy with my sangeet makeup than my wedding makeup. The finish was more matte than I had envisioned, and overall I felt the wedding look was much stronger. As an out-of-state bride planning a California wedding from Boston, I chose not to do a bridal trial because of the additional travel, logistics, and time commitment involved. While I understand the value of trials, I felt this decision was brought up multiple times throughout the process. I also felt some pressure to use a preferred saree drapist who was outside my budget. I ultimately chose a different drapist who did an excellent job for both me and my mother, and I appreciated having found a solution that worked well for us. Overall, Raman created a wedding look that I genuinely loved, but the scheduling, communication around optional services, and overall experience did not fully meet my expectations. I would recommend discussing timelines in detail, building in additional buffer time, and clarifying expectations around optional services before booking. read more

I wish I could say that I enjoyed my experience. With all the raving reviews I had high hopes. My mother and I went in for a makeup + hair trial. $475 ($375 for makeup and $100 for hair) for me and $300 for my mom. For background my wedding is in Delhi and my mom and I are not Indian and want to feel a bit more prepared before flying across the world only to wish we have brought something with us. We had spoken on the phone and the conversation went really well I told her I was interested in going over looks for my Mehendi, Wedding, and Reception similar to my mom and she said no problem we could do one look and go over what we could do with the others and that she wants us all to feel comfortable. The questionnaire was quite confusing to answer being unfamiliar with makeup. I tried sending her photos of makeup and hair I like but it somehow couldn't go through before the appointment and when it did get sent to her she didn't even look at it. Now for the actual appointment, the foundation she used on me was a good two shades darker on me and way too light on my mom. It really seemed like she was relying on the fact that the products were luxury brands over whether they actually worked on our faces or had the correct shades. I mentioned that I was interested in a specific winged eyeliner style and she immediately dismissed it that it was a pakistani style and just did the style she wanted. For the hair she just put on so hair spray and slicked my hair tightly back and put up with bobby pins. It did not look flattering on me and not at all what I wanted. I told her I wanted more volume and she said that what she did was her favorite look and looked best with a mathapatti. That 'hair style' took all of 10min (I timed it) and was not worth $100. I would also like to note that when we got home after the session my eye makeup already smudged and needed a touch up (about ~1hour). For $900 my mom and I got hair and makeup for only one look that we knew we never want to repeat and three hours gone. A few days after the appointment she sent me a photo she took that was heavily edited and lightened to minimize how off the foundation match was, I am attaching a photo my mom took of me and the edited photo for reference.
