I've been going to Yasuko for years now since moving out of San Francisco, and she is hands down one of the best hairstylists I've ever had. I typically get a double process done, and she nails my ash blonde every single time and it grows out beautifully. In the past, I've also experimented with fun colors like pink, green, and purple, and Yasuko made each shade vibrant and perfectly customized. She really understands color and I trust her creative process. One of my favorite services is her scalp treatment, especially during the colder months. I'm so happy with how my hair turned out, I was able to get the vivid red color I was seeking! I was a new client and booked online, which was easy! She also gave tips via Yelp message on the type of appt to book for what I was seeking. Yasuko has a cute plant filled, corner light room in Sola salons - she takes precautions with one client at a time and masking. I appreciated this. (Her room is also close to the bathroom which is nice for obvious reasons :) ) I have very naturally black and thick hair making it pretty challenging to lift. Yasuko did her magic and it was great, my hair still feels healthy too which is key to a good colorist! :) Previously I was told my dark black hair wouldn't be able to get a vivid red, but I felt rest assured with Yasuko, I wasn't exactly sure what to ask for but showed her pictures and she was spot on in figuring out the color. Where you can feel like a queen!! First off Yasuko's shampooing is the bomb. Always feel so relaxed after. I love the shape she creates with hair and how flattering her cuts are. The space is very stylish, modern, and feminine - and always clean. As others mentioned it fits only one chair. Unlike other stylists, Yasuko is very gentle with your hair from dealing with tangles to blow drying super thick hair. I've never felt like my head or neck was pulled or yanked. She works hard and puts effort in what she does, very friendly and easy to talk to. Love this new location to get my hair done by Yasuko! I trust her with my hair especially coloring. She is very creative. I typically show her color inspirations I have seen and like. Then based on my current hair situation, she will customize a look for my hair and also think about future hair goals as well. She will also explain the process so I know what is going on. I finally was able to have my dream hair after coming to her for several sessions. She listens really well to what you want, and also asks the right questions to pinpoint what exactly it is you are visualizing for your hair. Yasuko is AMAZING. I have had balayage/ombre done on my hair consistently for about the past 4 years or so, and Yasuko's work is by far the best -- and trust me, I've seen a lot of hairstylists (good ones) throughout the years. I keep looking in the mirror at how awesome my hair came out. The blend from the black hair to blonde just looks so natural. She switched locations less than a year ago so I think that's part of why she doesn't have a ton of reviews, and she also definitely is not about speed or working on a ton of people at once.
