Came here with my fiancé to look at engagement rings. While it can be a nerve racking process to…read moreshop for one, it should also be an exciting one. At first the gentleman who helped us was professional and receptive to what we were looking for. I ended up telling him thank you for your time, and that we would shop around a little more and he'd hear back from me. I went to another business and spoke with an employee there who was much more informative than anybody at From Italy With Love. The employee from the second business told me if I wanted to give my business to Italy With Love then to make sure I was getting a diamond that was GIA graded. I called from Italy with love back and the first question they asked when they picked up the phone was " are you ready to put a down payment on the diamond?". I said no I'm not ready, I want to confirm that the diamond you showed me was GIA graded. I divulged too much information and told him I went to another business who told me I should confirm that it's GIA graded. He replied by telling me his diamonds are GIA certified, not GIA graded. And that the other business' diamonds were essentially not as valuable as his. Turns out there's no difference between graded and certified, essentially they're the same exact thing. I asked him if I could come in and see the GIA certification and he said yes. I went back to from Italy with love and he wouldn't let me hold the certification. He claimed it was "his diamond". If he gave me that info, I could have went home and looked more into the legitimacy of the diamond, but he didn't allow me to note the GIA number, while the other business had no problem with my taking a picture of it. After all, I'm the consumer. Him and another employee then proceeded to bash other businesses in front of my fiancé and I, as if they're the only ones that can be trusted. It was completely unprofessional, and I was more than happy not to give them my business.

On top of that, when we spent a half an hour on hold with customer service, we were told they never return the delivery fee when my husband was told to call in the store. Such a low class company. My knowledge and involvement with Herricks Jewelers has been going on for quite some time and I'm happy to say it's been filled with positive experiences. So maybe most of my previous trips were for battery watches and small things like that, but when my (at the time) girlfriend and I were looking at engagement rings, I knew HJ had to be one of the places we go. The employees there make the experiences very personal and they're anything but pushy which you like from a small time local store (unlike Jared who tried to get me to buy a ring on our first trip ever looking!). I'll say that intimate touch takes things very far because I felt comfortable in wanting to purchase my (now) fiancée's ring here. As important as the staff is, price will almost always be a bigger factor when it comes to jewelry. At Herricks Jewelers I really feel/felt like I was getting my money's worth and at a respectable price. This was accurate after her ring was appraised for a nice chunk more than what I paid. Herricks was also great at taking care of any little snafus we had with the ring (diamond placement, size, ring color). This did take some emailing and back and forth, but none of these needs were charged as they really wanted to get the ring right for us. Overall, Herricks Jewelers has been around for a long time and I hope it stays that way. With a friendly and trustworthy staff, formidable prices, and a decent selection of jewelry, it's tough to turn down a trip here.
