I arrived to this location and passed 2-3 associates right at the entrance and was not greeted by a single one. In my past experiences in other stores I am usually greeted by at least the security guard and the cashier. Once fully in the store I was greeted by a cashier and given a sneer by an older lady there that I later came to find out, I asked an associate, was a manager by the name of Lisa. Being a military spouse I have been fortunate to visit many stores of different sell volumes but never, even during the high stress holiday season of shopping, have I been looked at with disdain. As I proceeded to speak to the cashier that greeted me this particular manager continued to watch me. Maybe she was looking at the interaction or maybe I was being watched as I am a Latina and this behavior is not new to me. It was very uncomfortable for me. I did glance over to her and even then I was not acknowledged as a customer. Once I had made my selections I just left them with the cashier. The situation was just uncomfortable and I would rather spend money elsewhere. I attempted to make a purchase again a few days later as it was not stocked close by. Again I witnessed the same manager mentioned above displaying behavior I cannot agree with. She was vulgarly and obscenely attacking the cashier I had just spoken to a few days prior. The way that the cashier stood there remaining her composure as customers, myself included, stood in line and witnessed it was yet another uncomfortable experience. How is this behavior permitted ? Lisa needs to either be removed of her position or be retrained in what her actual job is.

I don't complain about this, it is unlimited. I can come as many times a month as I choose. They are never on time. For a 35-minute service, I allow 2 hours. I blow my own hair. I have accepted this because of the price. At my last appointment, on 5/28 they were short-staffed. The location was dirty. There was hair all over the floor. The counter tops were dirty. The bathroom was overflowing with dirty paper towels. They were out of cotton discs and color remover for your skin. The schedule was 40 minutes behind. No one complained. They offered an option to reschedule to people. But today.... I was 15 minutes late. Yes, I was. AND I was told my appointment was cancelled. I drove 45 minutes from home as I had done 30 times and was turned away. I asked for the color to do it at home and was told NO. I have an unlimited membership for a year and 3 months. But NO. So, I don't recommend Madison Reed. The color fades fast, the location is filthy, and they are always late. Their customer service... well, not too good either.

Considering some salons want to charge $45 for the same service - I only have been using The Concept Salon since I moved back to New Jersey! I also love the salon's easy online booking system; you can see all available appointments and book whenever you need. The salon is very modern and clean. The receptionists always offer you water or coffee even when they are busy - which in my opinion never goes unnoticed. The stylists all take their time and care about what type of blowout you want- I personally prefer Desiree. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the salon does not allow you to book your blowout with the stylist you want; they give you whoever is available which in my opinion is time consuming. If you have a hair stylist you prefer and want to go to regularly is it beneficial for both parties. The hair stylist will eventually know how the customer likes their blowout, so customers do not have to waste time in the beginning explaining or showing the stylist photos. I would LOVE if the salon allowed customers to book with specific stylists, other that I would highly recommend this salon if you are looking for a blowout.

I have to say I have been to this salon a few times. Blowouts had been basically good. Essentially in line with the price charged. First color was fine. BUT.... B U T - YOU CAN VIEW THE OUTCOME OF MY 2nd COLOR JOB IN PIC BELOW! (sorry if turned the wrong way). This was supposed to be a "touch-up" - a root touch up to cover some stray grays. My hair color has & always has been from birth - dark brown. So I was told they used a mix of color 4 & 5 to achieve. You can see how yellow-ish the outcome was! Tbh, I didn't notice this so much the first night, but when I went to another salon, the owner there IMMEDIATELY NOTICED (she could see the top & back of hair where I couldn't see well, as well as near forehead) -- the way my hair dried naturally and the the way it was blown out, hid it near the forehead, but you can clearly see color was botched when you lift up. She was CONVINCED I had done it at home myself. She was shocked to learn a professional did this, let alone the owner of a salon. Look, mistakes happen. I am not a color expert, but was told all sorts of possible reasons why this could occur (none of which were of my doing). Bottom line, I like to give local businesses every opportunity to correct errors. I emailed this salon. No response. And I called. Got machine. I asked if I could come back to them to try & correct the color (hopefully at no charge, which seemed fair - as I am NOT & did NOT ask to merely be refunded & go elsewhere, which should've been a definite option). Although I did offer to pay in full for a follow-up blow-out. Btw, the owner was also the stylist who did my color. To be respectful, I'm deliberately leaving out names. I wanted to give the owner the benefit of the doubt. No reply. Waited a few days. Sent another note. No reply. Week later, 3rd email. Anyway - 3 emails & a phone call later. Still no response. So, I'm not only upset about hair color (thankfully starting to grow out a little on its own - or I should maybe say, the gray is showing through the yellow), but I'm now unbelievably frustrated. And now upset, & angry. And that would be an understatement. No one likes to feel a bad service was done. But worse, no one likes to be fully ignored as if the thinking is, "If I ignore a client (to whom a bad service (or bad outcome) was done) long enough, maybe they'll just go away". Why can't anyone in our society, esp business owners merely own up to a possible mistake & offer to correct in a timely manner? I don't know why my color turned out as it did. And tbh, I was unable to notify this business as quickly as I should have as the REASON I had colored was I was going out of state for 2 weeks, so I wasn't in the state to have corrected, but ensured I informed the owner upon my return. But no answer at all? Not to even discuss the issue with me? To FULLY ignore a client? The staff is not currently wearing masks but my hair stylist (Shellie) is always willing to put on a mask for me. She has gone out of her way to reassure me she is fine with the request. I am an old, type 2 diabetic and despite being vaccinated and boostered for covid I still prefer to err on the side of caution about masking. I like that Shellie always checks how I want my hair done. I always like the results of my hair appointments. Shellie also did an amazing job on my daughter's hair for prom.
