Today, however, it felt like the moment the employees saw I was there for a return, I was treated differently. I actually came in planning to purchase a few items, but no one approached me or offered assistance. There were several employees standing around, and I eventually had to walk up and ask for help myself. At checkout, I also had over 700 Beauty Insider points available. After the employee had already completed my transaction, I had to ask how many points I had. Since it's also my birthday month, I expected to at least be asked whether I wanted to redeem my points or claim my birthday gift, but nothing was offered. I was considering placing an online order while I was there, but after this experience, I decided to leave without purchasing anything else or redeeming my points. The employee didn't offer me a shopping bag or ask if I needed anything else. Instead, he immediately began helping the customer behind me while I was still trying to indicate that I wanted to ask about redeeming my points. Overall, the experience made me feel rushed, overlooked, and unwelcome. Customers making returns should receive the same level of service as customers making purchases, especially when they are also interested in shopping.
