I just had to share my experience tonight at Sephora. I came in looking for guidance, because even though I am 52 years old I still feel like a makeup novice. I was so lucky that Andres found me and guided me towards some amazing products! He was so thoughtful and informative, I left feeling excited and comfortable with the makeup that he helped me find instead of overwhelmed and skeptical that I'd be able to pull it off. I really appreciate Andres taking time to make sure I knew proper application and color matching. I learned so much from him and can't wait to have a classy makeup routine that is age appropriate but still fun! I wish there was a way to give Andres props through Sephora, but I can't see where to do that, so Yelp it is! Best Sephora employee EVER! read more

The cashier was curt and seemed annoyed. If you know what you need and are there to get it specifically, come on over. I don't know what is wrong with this store employees but the entire 15 minutes I was in there it felt like I was being rushed to purchase whatever and get out. Every single employee was not only hovering around me from start to finish, and when I asked if they would be able to just leave me to shop, this little girl got extremely offended and stormed off. Went on a busy Sunday to get color matched. They were quick to help, wonderful, and honest. They recommended a different brand of foundation to try after the brand I originally wanted tried didn't have the right shade for my skin/undertone. They weren't rushed and took their time and made sure I was in good lighting to really see if the foundation matched me perfectly. Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin Liquid Foundation ended up working great with my olive undertone. :) read more

I had a horrific experience with a cashier last week who became combative with me after I asked her to repeat what she said. Her mouth was so full of gum & my hearing isn't as sharp as it use to be, it was hard to understand her.I felt threatened & attacked, beside myself with disbelief as the store manager looked on doing absolutely nothing. To make matters worse when I asked the store manager how she wanted to handle this she was unapologetic & flippant. This store has created an unsafe environment for its clients and should not be in our community. I do nearly all my cosmetics shopping online but could not find the exact foundation I needed that hadn't already expired! Not available online, not at Nordstrom, Macy's, and my local Sephora doesn't carry Lancome in stores anymore. Thankfully, I was in the area getting my car serviced, called ahead, and found what I needed! I also found a couple bottles that were expired--weird--but we found two that were still good. Yay! The location is very convenient. Naomi is extremely helpful and doesn't try to push you into buying expensive products or anything that you don't need. She just tells you what her regimen is and what she recommends in terms of mature skin. She provided me with some make up tricks and pointers, which I appreciated. The biggest issue I have with this location is that the samples and the makeup counters themselves are so filthy with dust and messy testers and empty testers and it doesn't seem like they clean the counters all that thoroughly so I was really timid about testing anything -- blush, lipstick, highlighter, Eyeshadow or powders, I would not want my fingers on any of those nasty testers -- and there's accumulation of dust on top of every single counter! Best Sephora in the area hands down. It is on the smaller side but this location is CLEAN and well stocked for the size. Occasionally they don't have what I need and I have to go to the TO mall Sephora (beware!) or Calabasas commons but if I can help it I try to go here. I have been to this Sephora several times. The customer service is mediocre. I rarely get greeted by the employees whenever I come here. There is always plenty of parking. After reading several reviews tonight, it confirmed how the service is really hit or miss. I too have been rushed to find things and get out. I have had people help me that don't show me a lot of options when I tell them what i'm looking for. It's like they don't even try sometimes. Its as though they NEED to go to the next customer. Oftentimes the items that I pick they are sold out and then the person doesn't try to find me something comparable or let me know if it's available online. I too have had non customer friendly cashiers. HOWEVER I am greeted every time I go in there. I have had one person I think her name is Gina, i'm not sure. She is a beautiful african american young lady who definitely knows her stuff!! She is amazing with finding the right colors for you. Whether it's eyeshadow or lip or blush. And she's patient and fun. I hope that I see her each time. I've got to make sure I get her name right.And she better be there still! In the end, the employees are reflecting management.Whether it's local management or Sephora upper management and that is where it needs to start. It's quite shocking that they have not responded to.So many bad reviews about customer service.I really do hope it changes.It is a great location. read more

The consultants are extremely helpful and their shelves are stocked. Return policy not as good as its competitor but the service and selection are excellent. This is an exceptionally nice Sephora and I ended up getting exactly what I needed because the woman was patient and really helped me out. I think her name was Stacy but I'm not sure. Michka did a phenomenal job on my makeup! From the prepping to the final touches, she truly knew what she was doing every step of the way. You can tell she has real skill--she enhances your features in such a natural, beautiful way without overdoing it. That's something not everyone can do, because let's be honest, there are places where people do makeup and clearly have no clue what they're doing. But not Michka--she's in a different league. Firstly I'm not a fan of Sephora I am not a makeup girlie but my 10 year old daughter is. She spends all of her mother's helper money, birthday money and holiday money on Sephora. She's asks relatives for Sephora gift cards and her life involves following Sephora influencers on YouTube I think it's an issue. Well this evening we went to the Westlake store and apparently got there too late as my daughter was attempting to open the door and Asian male employee closed and locked the door on her. He didn't politely say we're closing or say sorry or anything of the sort he just kept talking to his co worker pretending we weren't at the door he was locking on my daughter. SO THANK YOU SEPHORA!!! Really from the bottom of my heart I appreciate your abhorrent behavior as I hope my daughter will permanently transition to ULTA which has NO heavy perfume in air, friendly sales people who push age appropriate skin care and much cheaper prices- looking forward to greener pastures! read more

What is going on with this location? It's not a comfortable place to browse and look at make up. They watch everyone and follow everyone as if the customers are going to steal something. And then if you make a return, with receipt they open and shake to make sure you didn't empty out the container it came in. I didn't ever think I would say this but I like Ulta a lot better. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Sephora for 15+ years and the Westlake Village location is the WORST shopping experience I've ever encountered out of dozens and dozens of Sephora's I've visited nationwide!!! The Management is awful and the staff is not much better. They hover, they talk you out of buying products you want to purchase (yes, this actually happened to me last week) and have no clue how to run a successful retail business. Came in to pick up some mascara, make up remover and a lipstick. Wandered around looking for a sale associate that wasn't busy and located one. She suggested a mascara, then a remover however, when it came to a lipstick, she showed me a couple and when they did not match my complexion, she left me to decide on my own. Fair enough, took a guess and unfortunately when I got home, it was so far off. Thankfully, Sephora has a lovely return policy, so went back to the store. Was given a refund, reminded that I had 30 days to decide on the lipstick, if I so chose. Located another sale associate in the store who pointed me to a $42.00 tube of lipstick and when I told her I that's not in my budget, she left to do something else. I left, too, figured I'd find a lipstick someplace else. Was hoping to check out different brands with someone who knew their stock. Sephora has a generous return policy, surprising, to learn this too, since I have never returned make up. However, sale associates seem to be hit or miss. read more

I'm not the type who likes to shop. I rarely go into stores looking around and taking my time. I like to just go get what I need, and walk out. I'm impatient and just not into shopping. This Sephora in my neighborhood never disappoints in terms of service and products. Every single time I walk in, I'm greeted with lots of smiles, approached to see if I need anything, and they go above and beyond to answer your questions and help you with everything. Even on your way out, they greet you with such nice smiles. Some Sephora stores I've been to, and just makeup stores in general, have a pretentious vibe but not here. I love it here. Today when I walked in, I was greeted by Selena and she was super sweet, knowledgeable, and helped me find everything I needed in less than 5 minutes. I was in and out of the store in less than ten minutes with all the items I needed. The other reason why I love it here is because they have a good selection even though it's a small store, relatively speaking. They're never out of anything I need. My mom and I stopped by this Sephora because she needed some more of her foundation, but wanted to get a different shade of it. We waited for an employee to help us for a while because they were so understaffed. I could only see two employees when I looked and both were helping other customers. The employees could have apologized for the wait, but they didn't. I'm definitely more than a little disappointed from the service here. I have to be honest and say I was skeptical at first because of how small this location is...especially the skincare section (relative to say the Sephora at the Oaks Mall). However, it seems like they have their most popular items in stock so I was still able to find exactly what I was looking for. The sales people are always nearby to answer any questions but are not intrusive or pushy at all. One of the sales ladies helped me look at a few face serums in my price range. I decided on the Josie Marin Argan Oil. I definitely recommend this location if you want a more relaxing and less crowded experience than your typical Sephora. Oh and I picked up my birthday freebie which made my day. Now for the cons...they were out of stock of two of the Nars products I actually would have wanted to purchase (an eyeshadow palette and kohl eyeliner). read more

Every time I shop at Sephora, I am quickly reminded why I avoid this store. First of all, when it's busy- it's a zoo. When it's not busy, most of the staff are not friendly enough to earn my repeat business. I went to the store to color match for blush in Milk cosmetics. The first Lady I spoke with, pointed me in the right direction, and told me to get her if I had anymore questions. I turned around to use their mirror and hoped for better lighting. As I struggled with the colors, a different associate came by and made it very clear I was in her way. When I backed up to make room for her, she said something about the work station needing to be sanitary. I fail to understand how me standing in front of the station, the same distance she is standing in front of the station, with nothing in my hands except the color swatches I marked on them, and not touching anything, makes me any more unsanitary than she is. So I walked out. Rather than telling me I am in their way, perhaps ask how they can be of assistance? I think they are too accustomed to teens exploring the stores, they have lost sight of actually helping customers. read more

Tonight I took a trip to this location in search of a new translucent powder. Unfortunately, I was met with a low stock and an even lower quality of staff. Not only do they bombard you trying to make their bonus by assisting you, but when you actually need help they have attitudes. This isn't the first time I've been dissatisfied with this store's service, but it's located near the stores I typically shop at so I tend to come here when I need products. The location in The Oaks is significantly better than this one, not only because of their actual variety of items but because their staff doesn't seem like they're being held against their will. One particular employee, Trevor, stood out to me tonight as they were making their negativity and boredom with their job everyone else's problem by acting exasperated and surly. This is a smaller Sephora location but if you know this ahead of time you won't be disappointed. They do have a higher volume sometimes simply because the other stores are more heavily trafficked and can sell out quickly. Service is usually quick and friendly - thanks to Mandy for going the extra mile to help a sister out on Black Friday ! I have also taken some of their makeup tutorial classes here pre covid and this was my preferred location to visit for those - I feel the atmosphere is more intimate and attention is able to be more personalized due to the slower traffic of the store. I hope they bring classes back I would return and I recommend this location over the one in the mall. read more

Trash! I used to get my makeup done by Sephora in San Diego for YEARS! Never did I ever have a bad makeup artist. However now they are all TERRIBLE! Went in again just a few weeks ago to try out a different location and was very disappointed with the outcome! It was so bad I took it all off and walked out! It's nice to visit a Sephora that isn't located inside the mall. Ample parking and easy to find. Megan did my studio make up for the day and she was awesome! Found myself this far west the other day and decided to see what their selection was. They are clearly smaller than other locations located within malls, and quite frankly, the service was non-existent. Maybe it's me, but most of the people working at Sephora tend to ignore me. However when I DO actually get someone's attention, they are as kind as can be. That didn't happen here. The one brand I was searching for (Armani) they didn't have, and the NARS shades I wanted to see...were missing. True they could have been used for makeovers which were going on, but this didn't make this experience any better. As for how crowded it was, there were definitely enough shoppers, but not overly so where the associates were consistently busy; there were more than a few who could have offered a hand. Thankfully, there are plenty of Sephora shops in my neck of the woods. If all else fails, at least we know we can go online... read more
