This is not the place to shop for Black hair care products. I live in the area, so I've been a…read morecustomer just long enough to notice. The owners hire store attendants who are not knowledgeable on the products that they sell. If you need help, or ask questions, they appear lost and will suggest something random. And, the products that are sold here are indeed overpriced, you can find a better price at a store like Walmart, Target, or Amazon. The hair that they sell for wigs, sew-in's etc. is also poor quality. A lot of time I regret my purchase after coming here. FYI, you cannot legally require a customer to provide ID when completing a purchase, Visa and Mastercard prohibit this. That's a wild, discriminatory practice. If they ask, tell them no, and they still have to complete the purchase. To the owner: How can you morally profit from a predominantly Black customer base, while remaining ignorant of their hair care needs and simultaneously discriminate against them? Overall, it's a weirdly isolating and aggravating experience shopping here, but sadly, it's the most convenient when in a pinch.

It's where we marvel, imagine, and dream of continuing, improving, or re-designing the crown given to us in an effort to shine brighter! The beauty supply stores across cities is our hub and it is imperative the hub maintains a decorum of welcoming everybody, helping anybody, and be just in its economical value to not just one somebody but all people who cross its threshold. Especially now, as we have all been impacted by an oligarchy improperly placed in the land of the free and home of the brave...how dare it raise its ugly head in this local beauty shop store. A good friend of mine, after utilizing her Inspector Gadget research skills to locate the perfect new texture, color, and style of hair to re-do her braids, found this specific supply store in her neighborhood. Loving the location and the fact they had the hair she needed was a delight and excitement as she was preparing for a lovely Valentine's/Presidents Day weekend! She just knew everything was falling into alignment. She entered the store, easily found everything she she needed, and due to her research, knew exactly how much her items would cost; taxes and everything included. The clerk rang her up and as my dear friend was just about to go on about her lovely Friday evening, she stopped and look at her receipt in hopes to celebrate how spot on her math would be. But unfortunately, she was stopped in her tracks as she noticed an exuberant additional amount charged over her own calculations. $60 worth of odd charges. She had a "things that make you go hmmm..." moment. My dear friend inquired about the additional charges and was met with what seemed to be "I'mma make some bs up so this lady will get out of my face" energy. My dear friend did not like this and asked for the manager and the clerk responded the manager was busy. Friend asked for the manager's name and the clerk gave it and it was the name of the clerk. Friend asked "Is that you??" The clerk responded "Yes." Friends' mind was blown and her annoyance grew. Friend asked for an explanation of the charges and like most businesses that attempt to take advantage of customers, when it got down to the core of it, the manager couldn't explain the charges and offered a refund to her debit card which would take 7-10 business days. My friend wasn't buying it, demanded an immediate cash refund of the over charges and wasn't leaving until she received it. I don't blame her at all. If you knew my dear friend, you would agree she is a lovely person and definitely not the person to play, scam, lie, cheat, or steal from. It would not be wise. Eventually the "clerk/manager/I accidentally over charged you $60 for some hair" came to her senses and refunded Friend in cash and all was calm. In a time when everyones money has an assignment and very few of us can enjoy luxury let alone have spare time and change to beautify ourselves, the last thing we need in a place as sacred as the beauty supply store, is the mindset and ill-political strategies of "wanna-be" oligarchs. This really ain't the time to be messing with anyone, especially women when it's time to get our hair done. This business needs to do better and realize many of us ain't too busy or distracted to read our receipts. This is a warning to them to stop pressing your luck. We're entering a time when buyers are not afraid to report you for fraud. Thank you for coming to my TEDTALK.
