The ole' silver bullet was having some problems of late - constantly alerting me to a coolant problem, idling pretty high, that weird thing where my trunk popper won't work. (Yeah, I know, I'm not sure what's up with that.) The great thing about Auto Know How is that they will troubleshoot with you over the phone to see if it's really necessary for you to come in or to figure out just how major your problem might be. After talking with Laura on the phone for a few minutes, I knew that my coolant issue wasn't urgent but after several months of that persistent dinging alarm going off every time I got behind the wheel, I decided it was time to finally take it in. Turns out I needed some extra stuff done too, which I was happy to have them repair. Considering I've never had major work done on my car and it's 6 years old, I think that's pretty awesome. Particularly since it was less than $300. That's almost a miracle. Be prepared to leave your car overnight, even if you're just coming in for an oil change, because they do get busy these days. I've also found that my final bill tends to be a little less than they have quoted me, which is also awesome. Oh, and my trunk? Apparently I have a valet switch that kept getting locked. Who knew?

The first shop says CV axles (which it was not), the second confirmed bad pinion bearing but was overly confident not to check backlash and preload. Third shop was under experienced with diff repair. At this point I was exhausted, down on my luck, having wasted $500 in inspection costs to no avail, I was about to scrap the chevy seeing my only option was to swap a reman axle for $4k plus labor. Then I called WD. Dave took the time to speak with me extensively about the issue and encouraged me not to scrap the truck but instead remove the guts for his shop to recondition at a fraction of the cost. They started immediately when I arrived with the parts and finished installing a total of 8 bearings and 3 seals in under 2 hours. Remarkable timing. There was an issue with the pinion support bearing being Chinese (which came with the kit and I would have had to install myself in the diff). I brought this to Dave's attention after I got home and he agreed to meet me half way to give me a USA made bearing. He stands behind quality so much as to make a trip. I mean, what shop or mechanic does this? So I get it all bolted on and texted him the gear pattern. We spoke a bunch back and forth, but ultimately he approved the pattern. What do you know, the growling is GONE! David, Lynn, you guys are awesome! It is so difficult to find a reputable mechanic. Your shop stands against the stigma. 10 stars! Seriously.

Was on a cross-country trip from MN to AZ with a full car (family and all) and started hearing that…read moredreaded sound from my the rear differential... fortunately having some automotive knowledge I was suspicious right away of what was going on and managed to limp into Denver and find Dave and Western Drivetrain. We got there at 5AM. They were in the shop by 6:30, were diagnosing my car by 7, had a diagnosis/bid/time estimate to repair by 7:45. They had all the parts in stock. They dropped us off at a local restaurant to wait, picked us back up, and had the car done and we were gone by 11AM. I can't say enough good things about this shop and the team there. Kind, friendly, accommodating, quick, knowledgable and very fair prices. In addition to the great service, Dave also took the time to explain to me exactly what happened, why it failed, provided the pinion bearing that was the culprit, and wrote up a great summary of the issue. I was able to take that back to the team that had rebuilt the rear end just a year before and have a very honest, straightforward, simple discussion that resulted in a very satisfactory outcome that both me and the original shop were both satisfied with without and disagreement or debate. My hope is that I do not have to see them again (it would mean that I had another differential problem on a cross-country trip), but if I did, I don't think I would go anyplace else in Denver for this type of work. I recently had the clutch begin to make noises so I had it towed to Hands on Auto Tech for a…read morediagnosis.. There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

This truck had belonged to my former landlord whereupon his daughter sold it to me as the old boy had gone to a retirement facility. In his later years maintenance and repairs had been let go but being sturdy and strong running, I bought it and am slowly bringing it up to snuff and it is good in the event I should need to do any long distance traveling with it. . Attended the new shop opening, located just off I-25 and Colorado route 66, where I met Mr. Maggio's family and some of the other customers who call Hands On Autotech their home for vehicle repair and servicing. I first went there based on the recommendation of the Martino troubleshooter show on 630 KHOW AM radio; 10 AM - 2PM, M-F. My opinion is that Tom's shop takes something of a scientific approach to vehicle repair and will go more in depth with an analyses than another shop I had been to for an issue with my '99 Tahoe. As an EV owner himself I gather that Tom is up on the current tech, perhaps more than some other places who would have men of my age (68) from the "dinosaur era" of automotive tech working at their shops.

I brought my vehicle to Stan's in May of this year (2024), and I had a friendly enough visit with…read morethe staff here an had an alignment done. I came in letting them know I was having an issue with a minor wobble at highway speeds (nothing crazy). After getting an alignment here and ruling out other issues (brakes, suspension, tire balance), months later I had my alignment checked at another shop. The alignment was completely out of whack, yet no work had been done since the alignment. An alignment was performed at the new shop after replacing my inner tie rods because the adjustment nuts were SEIZED. A proper alignment can only be done by adjusting these nuts, which was not done. I was also not notified by the shop that these needed replacing. My toe was adjusted improperly by the shop, and the wobble continued. After the proper alignment was done, NO WOBBLE. The purpose of visiting an alignment shop to get an alignment done is to get a proper alignment, not to have my money taken from me without even a notice that something prevented them from properly doing the alignment. I emailed the shop a couple weeks ago to hopefully get some clarification, and I have received no response. Just for some proof, I've attached pictures of 1/2 of the tie rods that were replaced to show how much force it took the shop to get them out, as well as the alignment chart that is accurate to how they aligned my vehicle in May. Please save your money and get a proper alignment done elsewhere.

My 08 Chevy Uplander mini van had needed a transmission for a year now. The quotes I was getting…read morefar exceed the value of the van so it sat until I found someone reasonable or the car fell apart in my driveway. By happen chance, I saw an add for them on Facebook then referenced Yelp to read some reviews. I shot them an email and Joe got back to me the following day. After very short chats, it was clear my transmission was shot. Something I already knew. It had been dying for a while and was just running first and second gear for a bit. They quoted me an all inclusive price of an installed rebuild and the quote was the reasonable one I was looking for. I signed off on the work that day and they sent a tow truck to my house to get my van. The tow was free and it was running from my house in SW Denver to 115th in Northglenn. That would be a 200 dollar tow if I had to pay for it. It only took them four days to complete the work. When I arrived to get the van, Joe told me to watch for leaks and if there is anything I don't like, bring it back. He said he would gladly tow it if needed. It came with a three year 100k warranty on parts AND labor. That's a huge deal. I firmly believe that if I have a problem, Joe and Ram's Transmission will stand behind their product and their work. This was an extremely positive and uplifting experience and that's not something I'm often say about car repair shops. Thanks Joe S.

If your looking to be ripped off, taken advantage of, treated poorly and then still have to take it elsewhere where for an actual repair this is the place for you but I would suggest just save the hassle and money!

Until last year, my 20 year old Honda spent its whole life on the east coast. Several of these…read moreyears were in State College, PA -where they salt the roads pretty heavily. So? Why does that matter? Fast forward to now. The exhaust on the car was getting loud and seemed like it was "falling off." We obviously wanted to get this looked at, because the problem certainly wasn't getting any better and potentially breathing in carbon monoxide isn't good. A search turned up automotive evolution, so we went in at 8:30 am today - right on time for our appointment that we set via phone a couple of days prior. The staff were friendly and got the car looked at quickly. As it turns out, it muffler was basically falling off! The exhaust pipe was rusting through behind the muffler. On top of that, the muffler itself also had corrosion perforation / holes in it. No wonder it was sounding like crap and we heard it knock around over the horrible, pothole ridden colorado roads. My car was taken in at 8:30 am, and we had the car back before 11 am, closer to 10:30 am. The price for the exhaust work was reasonable and the quality of the parts and work seems very good. I like that they provide you with photos of the issue and give a report of what they find and/or recommend. Unlike a dealership or big national repair chain, there were no upsell attempts or pressure to pay for things I didn't need. Their price for oil changes appeared pretty in-line with local quick lube shops. The waiting area isn't bad: there are a couple of tables to sit at, a water dispenser with cups, and a restroom. It also sounds like they can make arrangements for rental cars if you need to leave your car for a more protracted repair. While I don't like spending money at a mechanic, that's the reality of having an older car. I definitely won't hesitate to return to automotive evolution in the future and recommend them to anyone who needs a car repair place.
