Until last year, my 20 year old Honda spent its whole life on the east coast. Several of these years were in State College, PA -where they salt the roads pretty heavily. So? Why does that matter? Fast forward to now. The exhaust on the car was getting loud and seemed like it was "falling off." We obviously wanted to get this looked at, because the problem certainly wasn't getting any better and potentially breathing in carbon monoxide isn't good. A search turned up automotive evolution, so we went in at 8:30 am today - right on time for our appointment that we set via phone a couple of days prior. The staff were friendly and got the car looked at quickly. As it turns out, it muffler was basically falling off! The exhaust pipe was rusting through behind the muffler. On top of that, the muffler itself also had corrosion perforation / holes in it. No wonder it was sounding like crap and we heard it knock around over the horrible, pothole ridden colorado roads. My car was taken in at 8:30 am, and we had the car back before 11 am, closer to 10:30 am. The price for the exhaust work was reasonable and the quality of the parts and work seems very good. I like that they provide you with photos of the issue and give a report of what they find and/or recommend. Unlike a dealership or big national repair chain, there were no upsell attempts or pressure to pay for things I didn't need. Their price for oil changes appeared pretty in-line with local quick lube shops. The waiting area isn't bad: there are a couple of tables to sit at, a water dispenser with cups, and a restroom. It also sounds like they can make arrangements for rental cars if you need to leave your car for a more protracted repair. While I don't like spending money at a mechanic, that's the reality of having an older car. I definitely won't hesitate to return to automotive evolution in the future and recommend them to anyone who needs a car repair place. read more

I don't recommend you go here. They charge you $200 per test before they even touch your car and they test for everything. Simply just to look at it. I took my car in to have it tested to see what was wrong with it and left with broken parts When I called to ask about this issue they said they would charge me another $200 to look at it again. This would put me at $400 just to look at it. Their prices are overcharged and they're very pushy and demanding payment upfront in full before they work with you. Look elsewhere as this is not the place to be. read more

This is a review that I was incredibly excited to write. I am over 50 years old and this is the BEST I have ever been treated by ANY business in my entire life! I have been bringing my Toyota Land Cruiser to AE for a couple of years now and have never been disappointed. However, this last time was exceptional. I brought my vehicle in to have any and all repairs that needed to be done, done. They diagnosed all that needed to be repaired and I got my vehicle back in a decent time. However, something wasn't quite right and I brought it back. Turns out something was missed. To my utter surprise, they found that my driveshaft needed replacing as well and they , in turn, put in a new driveshaft FREE OF CHARGE!! Not only that, they took the time to take my vehicle to where the original tires were mounted and had them professionally balanced FREE as well! This is over-the-top customer service. I won't include all of the other little details they threw in at their expense, but they were amazing. I can't guarantee you will have this type of EXCEPTIONAL service when you choose them, but I can guarantee you will receive the best service from a mechanic ever. I've been an occasional customer of the Wellers (Adam and Nicole) for decades, since they were Lakewood Muffler, and they always did very good custom exhaust work. Occasional, because I turn my own wrench, and only take my cars to shops for specialty work (e.g. welding, A/C service - both of which I've taken cars to Adam for in the past). When I do hire a shop, my expectations are high and usually hard to meet. Recently, I had to repair a cracked exhaust manifold on a Lexus V8, a common but difficult repair, beyond my patience level. The elegant solution involved aftermarket headers, artful welding of the catalytic converters and re-hanging the exhaust. Since my last visit to Lakewood Muffler, they had joined a Subaru shop in Golden and became its managers. I had sent them referral customers but not yet been in as one myself. The Lexus repair was an opportunity. Joe, the shop's primary welder / exhaust guy, with Adam's help, did the difficult job of fitting the new headers and making welds that would outlast the faulty Toyota ones. The job did have some fit / clearance issues, but ultimately they were resolved; the exhaust is back to being Lexus quiet, perhaps with a bit more pep from the upgrade. As for price, it was very reasonable for custom work, done thoroughly. I'd add the fifth star if I was a more regular service customer, as I suspect the shop has a much larger core competency than just welding and A/C service. On my visits to AE, I've noticed a steady stream of repeat customers using this shop for service on Subarus, Toyotas, Jeeps, etc.; and I suspect they do everything well. AE does get bonus points for communication. I'm old school, so while I prefer the phone to texts, this shop uses use text and email extensively to communicate job status, recommend other needed services, etc. Most connected folks will like the thoroughness, and yes, if you don't understand something, they answer the phone, every time! read more

I pulled in here right after noon and even though most were on lunch, Casey came right outside and offered to take a quick look at what was going on. My wiper fluid wasn't spraying and I didn't know whether it froze or there was a fuse or motor issue. I couldn't leave my car for it to be check out later because I had my dog with me. The woman at the desk was also incredibly gracious and understanding. It took Casey barely 3 minutes to figure out it was frozen and helped me to get it unblocked. I'd parked overnight outside at A Basin and it had gotten well below freezing, so it made sense! Saved me a ton of time from making an appointment somewhere and dropping it off. I had an alignment here done on my 97 Camry and didn't notice they forgot to replace my wheel caps until the next day. Nicole made this up to me by giving me a free air filter when I returned. They also provided me with a free estimate of suggested repairs. I have a mechanic, but will be adding Automotive Evolution as my secondary one after being shown great customer service (a dying breed nowadays). Replaced my front control arms, forgot to put the nut on the bolt that holds the control arm to the wheel, lots of clunking, wheel could have fallen off. Did another repair, was driving home and saw smoke coming out from under the hood so I stopped at grocery store at first exit, lifted hood and flames came shooting out from engine block. Thankfully I had baking soda in car which I put out the flames with and found pieces of a partially burned shop rag which the mechanic left in the engine compartment. Had the a/c compressor replaced and started noticing heavy exhaust smell; figured old car stuff. Then I had the front driveshaft replaced and Ace adamantly tried to convince me that the noises I heard after that was that the front differential needed replacing to fix the horrible noises I heard. Gut feeling said no, so I finally convinced them to do a diagnostic and it was a misplaced power steering hose and the exhaust smell was a vacuum hose that was disconnected. Ace told me that I could not prove it was them this time and became very nasty that I wanted the hose inspected to make sure no damage was done to it. Took it in to inspect hose and demanded that I get to visually see it, which they argued over, but then caved in, and Ace showed me a hose from my expansion tank that was leaking like a sive. Wasn't leaking when I drove it there. Barely made it to another mechanic shop before I ran out of coolant. Nicole, the counter lady, is very nasty and condenscending, or so sweet she gives you a toothache. Doubt I will ever go back there. Sadly, the owner, Dustin, doesn't even know what is going on, and he is a very nice guy. read more
