He had a can-do attitude and like a bull dog, wouldn't let go of a problem he encountered until he solved it. After the appropriate inspections by the State & County, our utility company swapped out the old meter for a new, bi-directional Net Meter, so we can send spare capacity to the grid and get a 1 for 1 energy credit for future use. Though expensive, it's so rewarding when you see your house 100% self-sufficient during the day no partly self-sufficient at night when using some of the stored energy in the battery.

A week after the utility company gave the final okay, there has been zero contact from Banner. Not a "how are things going?" nor a "thanks for working with us" or even an attempt to sell us on their maintenance plan. :) Today, the final payment request arrived, from a no reply email no less. Maybe I asked too many questions or it was the fact that I had an issue with the payment schedule not being made clear?

I was immediately surprised at just how much energy a solar array in Seattle could produce in winter. In 2021, after 3 summers in a row of wildfire smoke in Seattle, we made a decision to remove our chimneys and let go of the nostalgia of a wood fire. By removing two chimneys, we created space for 10 more panels, added an electric induction stove, a heat pump, and closed our account with the gas company. With net metering by Seattle City Light, various state and federal tax incentives, the entire installation has nearly paid for itself.
