I was going to Union Station too early in the morning to use the subway so I decided to take a taxi. Friends of mine who always use Beck recommended them. I asked for a 5:45 am pickup. The taxi arrived early and was just waiting quietly for me to come out. The car was clean and the seatbelts were accessible. The driver asked me if I had a particular route that I wanted to take and when I said I was fine with his opinion, he gave me a couple of routes to choose from, which I appreciated. He was personable and friendly and we had a nice conversation. The cost was within my budget. I would definitely use Beck taxi again. read more

To Whom This May Concern, This is my first attempt to contact Beck Taxi in regards to an event that costed me over $1,100.00CDN due to one of your drivers lack of professionalism and lack of moral judgement. On February 2, 2015 I ordered a Beck Taxi online. Driver: The road conditions are bad, we need more time for travel Me: I ordered the taxi for 5:50am... My daughter is having her cereal, we'll be down at 5:50am Driver: OK fine. My wife, my 2 year old and myself arrived in our lobby at 5:50am. There was no Beck Taxi waiting for us. I waited until 5:52am and called (647) 883-5955. "Click" With that conversation, we wasted a total of over thirty minutes as by the time we got onto the road (it was past 6:20am) and we made it to the airport at 6:55am. We ended up valet parking our vehicle as we needed to check-in our luggage and we missed the 7am cut off time for our 8am flight. If you want to complain about a Beck taxi driver as a fellow driver on the road, forget it. A few weeks back, I had to slam hard on my brakes to avoid colliding into a taxi that zoomed down the exit ramp lane at Sheppard and Don Mills. When I called their dispatch I was told that I had to get the driver's information as they didn't know who was driving the cab. So yesterday when we were again standing on brakes because a Beck taxi driver decided he wanted to drift across 2 lanes at 5 km per hour, I pulled into the parking lot off the road after him to get his info while we were on the phone with dispatch. While I was out of my car the taxi driver, having refused to provide me the requested information, decided the best thing to do was DRIVE INTO MY CAR!! He then backed up, must have realized he had some real problems and then took off. We went to the collision centre, where he proceeded to lie about almost every detail of it, until it became evident that I was indeed parked when he hit me because I was able to show the officer my handprints on the rear passenger side of the taxi where I was screaming and slapping the taxi, yelling that he was hitting my car (and stupidly pushing against the taxi in a vain effort to get him to stop). I will be suing this the driver and the taxi owner and Beck. Beck refused to do anything about this jerk except to infer that he had the right to hit me as I wanted to complain about him!!! I will also be doing everything in my power to speak with the City of Toronto to lodge a formal complaint against the taxi company for allowing these types of things to happen. Maybe I shouldn't be writing this review based on one bad experience but whatever, you'll be the one to judge. So I took the cab from broadview station to the westin, the ride was about average for most of the way, guy was quiet and drove. I had a funny feeling though. as we got to the westin, I asked him to pull up on the other side of the street, he said ok and seemed to understand but continued to drive for about 4 blocks to the harborfront community center. At this point I asked if he was going to turn around (or maybe he was just going to keep driving until we hit vancouver?) so he asked "make a U-turn here?" um, yeah or you could have just let me cross the fucking street by myself instead of driving around like a clueless idiot for an extra 20 minutes. he clearly knew that I wanted to get off at the hotel, I told him about 3 times, he SAW the hotel and I asked him to leave me on the other side of the street, I don't get how he could have misunderstood that. So eventually I ended up in the other side of the street and my bill was $28 dollars, I paid him $25 and tipped him with a cold stare. Really though I should've given him $20 Perhaps I should have noticed sooner, but I have never driven a car in my life and especially not on queens quay, I assumed that it is a bitch to make a U-turn on this street. on the way home I took the royal taxi, it cost $19 and drove me a few blocks further to my house, I'm going to avoid beck unless they are the only ones there, I'm sure their drivers arent all incompetent morons, but this has left its mark on me. read more

i have a video of the cab driver stealing my friends cell phone. On saturday night i took a cab home with a friend. as she is exiting the cab i click onto my app 'snapchat' and filmed her exit thinking it was funny... little to know i recorded him stealing her cell phone as her back was turned to him as she was getting out of the car. watch the beginning of the film and see how he doesn't think twice and finally waves to the camera. police were called and he was charge with thief. i want people to realize that anything can happen even if the driver was a flirty talker. the phone was turned off immediately once we noticed it was gone. if we didn't have this video we wouldn't have got the phone back. this could have been wallet with money or an intoxication girl by themselves. spread the word: dont trust your cab driver. always double check the cab. read more

Out of all of the taxi companies in Toronto, this has to be the worst. Whether it's the arguments and attitudes of drivers when moving their vehicles through the city (I heard a driver today say to a bicyclist that they came this close to hitting, to F&#k off), or when I am driving a vehicle and watch the crazy and erratic driving of their taxi operators (they act as though they can just stop in the middle of traffic whenever they like, can change lanes and cut off other drivers whenever they want and this has happened consistently for 12 years so hence my decision to finally review this company), Beck Taxi is exactly the reason why Uber is going to be more successful in Toronto. And to make matters worse, I have called Beck numerous times to notify them of dangerous driving, bad attitudes of drivers and bad customer service to be told it's NOT THEIR PROBLEM and if I have an issue with a driver to call the police or 911. EXCUSE ME?!?! Why would I call 911 for a non-emergency? I call a company to give feedback (which is so critical to business success) and I get nothing but attitude from your dispatchers and managers, so it's no wonder your "culture" is spoiled, bitty and sour. Your customers can see this too in everything you do and I am sorry to say that I won't be using your services anymore because I don't want to risk my life or others in a car that's dirty, smelly and unsafe. Sorry Beck you've had plenty of time to make changes and all you do is the same thing over and over and over. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but what really turns me off is they have no lost and found and drivers are able to steal all sorts of things with no real consequences. A new phone fell out of my pocket in one of their cabs and dispatch pretty much told me there was nothing I could do, as did the cops, despite me being able to GPS the phone and tell them when and where I came and left from (the cab was also ordered, not hailed). Asked another Beck driver what my options were and he pretty much told me it depends on if the driver wanted to return the phone or not. I guess he didn't and here sit my 2 stars. I often don't bother to sit down and review a company. But given all the unrest currently between cabs and uber I wanted to take a moment and point out why uber is taking over the cab markets all over the world. Last night I left a work function, which I had planned and was working at, well after 1am. I walked to the front of the hotel where there were easily 20+ beck taxis waiting. Not a one of these taxis would take me home as they did not want to accept my credit card (my only form of payment as my ride needed to be expensed). It's absolutely no wonder why people have come to accept uber as the preferred mode of transport in the city. Uber drivers are never late, never rude, and would NEVER reject a customer who was standing on the side of the road, alone, at 1am. Customer service is everything and Beck Taxi has zero customer service. Last night I finally gave in and downloaded the uber app. Congratulations, you have successfully created another uber user. read more

DON"T USE BECK TAXI!!! I used to se Beck Taxi 4-5 times a week as well as calling them numerous times daily for clients at work NEVER AGAIN! Sunday while leaving Rebel Nightclub I flagged a Beck Taxi for a ride home and the driver said he wanted a $30 flat rate--not metered---for the usual $10 ride. This is illegal. At approximately 1:55 PM this afternoon, June 29, 2016, the taxi dropped off a passenger on Dundas St. E. just west of Sackvlille St. I wanted to make a right hand turn on to Sackville so I waited patiently behind the taxi as the passenger exited. The cab driver then put his car in reverse and sat like that for 10-15 seconds. I put on my indicator, as there was traffic coming from behind, and went to pass him, allowing him to reverse (there was another Beck Cab about 15 meters back idling roadside) and I assumed he was going to sit there to have a chat with his colleague. I then signaled to turn right after passing the Taxi. The driver then decided to move forward, and started honking his horn at me, and then followed me on to Sackville and continued honking his horn. I pulled over to the right curb, got out of my car, and photographed his vehicle license plate, and took his photograph as well. He also got out, and stood within an inch from my face and started yelling, you can't just cut me off like that and get away with it. Get away with it? I followed the law to the letter. I signaled every intention and made a safe right hand turn. He was 100% in the wrong and he gets defensive and angry with me? This behaviour is unacceptable. The fact that he blew his horn at me 3 times, when he was in the wrong is unacceptable. He then proceeds to take pictures of me, and my car, and threatens me he is going to send it to City Pulse and have me on the news. This driver is definitely not stable, has anger issues, is threatening, and should need at a minimum to go through some anger management training before he works in, and with the public. I have sent a complaint to a Lead Supervisor named Sara (no last name as apparently they don't do last names at Beck Taxi) using email sara@becktaxi.com as her contact info, as directed by the woman who answered the phone when I called. read more

I have had awful experiences with Beck for years. Drivers dont know where theyre going, theyre rude, their late. I tried UBER a few months ago and I HAVE NEVER taken BECK since! Uber comes in 2 to 3 minutes. I can see where the car is on the APP. I can see the route theyre taking on my APP. Best of all its 1/2 the price of BECK. My ride from home to work use to be $15 with Beck, and its now $7.25 with UBER!! Please everyone whos complaining about BECK , TRY UBER you will never use a cab again! read more

My company always uses Beck so I've been using them the past few years for my own personal bookings too. I can't complain. When I call for a pick up, they are always there at my house within 5 minutes. It's very reasonable. I've had some kooky cab drivers in Toronto but never via Beck. Order becktaxi, if you want to get ripped off. If I were you, I would try to avoid using this cab service. The number one reason is because some of the cab drivers are so low that they try to take the longest way possible in order to charge you extra fare. Just today I ordered a smelly becktaxi and this guy took the longest road possible to the destination thinking I didn't know the area. I just kept quiet and let it be because I was questioning to myself why one would drop to that level just for few extra bucks and also, I knew it was going to be the last service that I'm ordering from becktaxi. So, after that I gave a quick call to the customer service and all they can say was, we can't do anything about it. I guess once they get your money, you are nobody. They're never thrilled to take debit, they usually never say a word, but they're prompt and have the most cabs in Toronto. Called Beck 2 hours ahead to have a cab pick me up at 1pm. At 1:10 I called again and the operator said "I'll tell them to hurry up." Huh? Finally a cab showed at 1:15 and the driver said he only got the call 5 minutes earlier. So what happened to my first request? It's difficult to review a cab company, because I have a general disdain for all cabs and how they run in Toronto. Yet, if I have to choose, I would choose Becks, over any of those other ones. I find them reliable and the cars nicer, cleaner. They also are more available. But here starts my rant about cabs in Toronto I think a lot more people would use cabs as their mode of transportation if it wasn't highway robbery. $4.25 to just sit down? And no additional mileage included in this? It's just a rip off. Although, because of this, less and less I find that cabbies would not reject you, even if you were going a small distance (then again, I could be wrong). I went from the Metro Convention Centre to the CNE the other day, and it was $11.50. Am I still obligated to give tip? I did ask before I got in, if he would take credit card. He took forever to get that machine started, and it asks me for tip. I don't see a reason for it, because isn't that what the $4.25 was for? No other cabs in the world (NYC, anywhere in Asia) expect this. General advice, if you're travelling long distances, it's nauseating. You're better off cabbing to the nearest subway, and taking it from there. You'll feel better, and it's actually cheaper. read more

I find that Beck is generally pretty reliable, but they seem to be totally unmonitored when it comes to breaking taxi rules. For example, they always want to know where you're going before you get in the car so if it's not far enough they can come up with some excuse not to take you. Case in point last night outside the ACC after the Leafs game. Driver standing outside his car says he's waiting for someone, but then proceeds to ask where my colleague is going. I say Yonge and York Mills and suddenly he can get a ride with that driver. Obviously if he'd said Bay and Dundas the driver would still be waiting for that other phantom person. The key is to get in the cab before you tell them where you are going (although this wouldn't have worked in the ACC situation). I also find they get pissed off when you want to pay with a credit card. I find the solution to that is not to tell them how you're going to pay until you get there. Then they have no choice in the matter. The point is they are not allowed to turn down a fare and I shouldn't have to resort to these tactics. read more

On Sat. Dec 24th, I was travelling in a Beck sedan taxi and the taxi smelled of smoke. Not only a smoke smell but this was a strong pipe smoke smell or a cigar smoke smell. I was discusted. Luckily I had my scarf around my neck and my cap on my head, so I chose to have my window down and bare the cold strong wind coming in. At least this was better than smelling the smoke, inhaling the smoke into my lungs and getting the smoke smell on my body, my hair and my clothes including a coat that is not cheap and convenient to wash. And today, I have been sick since I woke up at 5 am. I have caught the worse cold and cough ever this year. My eyes are very sore. I just feel exhausted all day today. And sneezing a lot. This has also given me an asthma attack and a need to take my puffers that I don't daily use. I am wondering if I will be alert enough to work Christmas eve as I feel very sick. I told the driver I was going to write into TTC but I have presently misplaced his name. Hoping they can trace my rides from yesterday and get this fellow suspended from being a driver for the TTC. I want to also say that the Beck taxis are the worse. Several other times the cars have reaked of smoke. The drivers all get scared when I tell them I am going to call into TTC Customer Service, that they tell me a big lie that they DON'T SMOKE. So where is the smell coming from if I am the only passenger in the vehicle? One Beck driver I had this morning said to me that I need to tell the TTC that I need to request my rides always with a smoke free driver. Another thing that makes no sense to me is that we passengers are not to use perfume and the drivers and other passengers can smoke just prior to getting into the taxi. This is more hazardous for passengers like myself than perfumes. I truly wish the drivers would wash the interior of their cars and do an air freshener spray every day or so. Depending upon the smell in the taxi. I just want this driver and others that I find in a smoky car in future to be suspended or lose their TTC driving taxi licences. read more

The worst taxi experience ever. Will never ever use them again. I had just moved to Toronto and had more than usual luggage. To move from my temp place I called a cab from beck and let him know I had to make multiple trips. Basically I was all by myself and had to bring down a guitar, and 4 heavy suitcases and some bags from shopping I had done. The driver tells me he has to turn meter on because he has to wait while i make multiple trips up 4 floors to bring everything. I say fair enough, no problem. I can respect the value of his time, and would not take advantage of it. But then he starts getting impatient and keeps asking how much more I have got and starts to basically harass and abuse me about making him wait there... Even though he is getting paid for it, and he is watching me struggle carry all this stuff from four flights of stairs, as if I am having a great time doing this myself. It got to the point that I was getting extremely anxious about the safety of my belongings, half of which were still up in the room, and the other half in this mentally unstable moron's taxi. Finally, after 10 minutes of scrambling, everything was in the car, and we left. But no, his insanity didn't stop there... He had the audacity to give me s**t about it the entire way driving to the destination as well. Never ever again will I call this company. read more

I would usually give them 4-stars, because I've never had a super-horrible experience, but today I phoned for a cab and half way through the ride it started to rain incredibly hard. I was trying to find a small street (I was telling him where to go because Heaven forbid a cab driver has a GPS), and I said, "Can you turn on your wipers please so I can see the street names?" to which he responded, "My wipers don't work." One would think that at one point, he would walk in if he was serious... If your cab went to the Bond Place yesterday 5pm, clean up your car a bit....in fact, a lot lol! Taxis are known for being smelly. Beck gets points or being less smelly, but they do still smell. Most of the taxis stink of body odour, whatever food they ate, or cigarettes. Some of the drivers are rude, others are great. Several times where they had no idea where they were going. Even for well known locations. I was going to the Liberty Grand and even though the guy had no idea where it was, he just drove around making wrong turns. I eventually had to intervene and we finally admitted that he didn't know how to get there - he made no adjustment to the fare to make up for all of the driving around, of course. I'd had a few experiences like this. They accept credit cards without making a big fuss about it. I can't say that about all taxi companies I've dealt with. Again, basically, they're slightly less stinky than the other cabs in Toronto read more

I got in the cab last night with a taxi chit and he took me 30 minutes out of the way to increase the bill that the company is paying for. I asked him why he didn't use his GPS and why he took me so far out of the way and he didn't give me an answer. The bill was twice as much as it should have been and when I filled out the taxi chit, he not only asked me for a tip, but asked me to sign my name before he inputting the total cost. He waited until I got out of the car to write the total amount. This is the second time this has happened with a taxi chit and exactly the reason I switched to Uber. read more
