Such nice cool people, had them fix and old canvas bag for me, they put new straps on, so no job is too small.

The selection here is fantastic, with everything from jackets and hiking shoes to thermal gear and hats, all at factory outlet prices. I've found deals that beat most online discounts, especially during seasonal sales. The staff deserves a shoutout. They're genuinely helpful, not pushy, and always willing to check stock or help you find the right size. You can tell they actually use the products and know what they're talking about. The store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate -- no digging through messy racks like some outlets. The checkout process is quick, and the team keeps the line moving even when it gets busy. Pro tip: Sign up for the Columbia Rewards program. I've scored some extra savings and early access to sales that make it worth it. Overall, this is one of the best outlet shopping experiences in the Portland area. Whether you're gearing up for a hike or just looking for a solid rain jacket (we are in the PNW), Columbia has you covered -- literally! LMAO

I was specifically hoping to find boots and/or a jacket. On top of having an entire floor full of clearance jackets, they also had about a dozen racks under tents outside of the store. It seemed like they probably had every Columbia jacket that had been made within the past few years. There was also a ton of Mountain Hardware and Sorel. The Mountain Hardware jackets were about 25-50% off, which was still significantly cheaper than REI or anywhere else that I know of. I ended up feeling so overwhelmed by the jacket selection that I decided I needed to do some research, and come back. I ended up leaving with two pairs of snow boots: 1 Columbia, and 1 Sorel. I got both pairs for $55, including tax and a very small roundup for the National Park fund. I've been looking for boots for a couple of weeks, and the cheapest I've found comparable boots anywhere else was anywhere from $69-129. So, I was beyond stoked to find two pairs I liked in the clearance section. They were also having a store wide BOGO half-off sale, which is how the total ended up so low. I didn't have, and have actually never had any of the issues with outlet stores that other people brought up in their reviews. I used to work at the outlets in Folsom. Most of the merchandise isn't damaged or defective-- it's just overstock or barely out of season. The boots that I purchased are honestly of similar quality to brand new boots from DSW. I just got really lucky (and have a seventh sense for when things will be on sale due to all my years of working in retail). Staff was super friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience and I would definitely shop here again.

I have been in here a few times this year for various goods and services, so here goes:…read more Mazamas BCEP Gear Night - this was excellent all the way around. To be fair, we were a pretty easy audience and they had a few well-qualified individuals helping us, but they certainly went above and beyond to explain function, form, fit, and cost for our helmets and climbing harnesses, as well as carabiners and tethers. Renting Mountaineering Boots, crampons and ice axe - this was also deceptively easy the first two times, so I was a bit surprised the third time, when they had boots and cramps, but didn't have a rental ice axe on a Thursday. As a nube, I didn't know we were right in the middle of climbing season. I spent about 15 minutes at the climbing desk with Sven(?) and purchased the correct axe for the climb. Sven was super knowledgeable and listened well, which bodes well when safety and efficiency are such a big deal on the mountain. Shopping for a belay parka - I want to sneak up on this, because it may well be a $500 purchase, if and when I pull the trigger. The associate was willing to spend concerted time with me, even when I admitted I was just looking for information. He explained the different fabrics and fills and construction, and talked through the options. Layers, a puffy, and a rain coat have been sufficient so far for me, and he affirmed the belay parka was for specific usage. Still, I will likely purchase it here as opposed to on-line if/when the time comes. I have needed extra carabiners, waterproofing spray, and a sit pad, and the staff has always been knowledgeable and attentive. Good job, Mountain Shop!

We came in before winter and took advantage of their season long ski rentals for my two 7 y/o daughters. Service was prompt, and they had everything we needed, boots, skis, poles for a very affordable early bird value. I'm going to say it was no more than $175 per girl. 2nd. Had the privilege of working with Rob in the ski boots department and he was amazing. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and took his time explaining the process along with any potential costs along the way to avoid any potential surprises. I'd hands down recommend checking out mountain shop in both of these areas. You won't be disappointed.

Yes, they were significantly pricier then online and retail stores for the ammunition that I needed but they were the only place within hundreds of miles that had it in stock. If they have what you need in stock and you've been looking for days or weeks, then pay the higher price and get what you need and stop complaining! This is the Zombie Apocalypse! I sure am grateful. They were friendlier on the phone than in person but such a relief to find my ammo when the rest of the country is sold out with no arrival of stock dates known. P.S. They require masks but were not wearing masks, FYI. So if you have to go, make your trip quick, *call ahead, make sure they have it* and go in for 10 minutes.

I went to The Gun Room today because I wanted to give a local gun store my business, and to see if…read morethe bad reviews were really earned. The short answer is yes, they are very well earned. Thankfully there are so many other fantastic gun stores around here with an owner who won't YELL at you over nothing or price things twice their market value. DO NOT shop here until there's a sign on the door saying "under new ownership". Here's the long story: The first thing I notice is the absurd prices of everything. Every military surplus rifle is marked by double it's value at the very least. Not uncommon, but not a great sign. The thing that killed this store for me was being yelled at by the owner for expressing a very uncontroversial opinion. For reference, I am an experienced firearm owner, competitive shooter and I have around the industry for years, and I don't rely on anecdotal evidence. I wanted to see a very good looking pistol in the cabinet. After handling it, I commented that it's a Turkish copy of a CZ-75. I said that I'd rather stick with a real CZ. For some inexplicable reason, this flipped a switch in the old man's head; he slams his hands on the counter, leans over, points a finger in my face and yells at me "you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, kid!" (It is worth noting that Turkish weapons have an unfortunate reputation for low quality and poor functionality, some even having catastrophic failures that injure the shooter! Anybody with even the slightest experience in the industry should know this. CZs on the other hand have a consistently great track record for the past 100 years). I'm obviously taken aback by this, and ask the owner if he has any experience with either. To which he yells at me "no! But look at it! CZs are bad, that's why we don't have em anymore!" Note: there were 3 CZs in the cabinet next to it... I was at a loss for words, I was smitten at the immaturity, lack of knowledge and professionalism that this man had. The audacity to yell at a customer, especially about something he clearly has no knowledge about is astounding. I really want to like this place and give them my business, but the owner is terrible and makes it impossible to do so. It's not all bad though, one of the employees there was very nice, and the dog was cute. Their selection is great, but with the prices their asking, I don't see it going anywhere. I never wish for a company to go out of business, but I don't see this shop lasting much longer if this current owner sticks around (fingers crossed).
