We saw the 50% off sign outside last weekend and decided to check it out. The main goal was to find a deal on snow shoes. They did have some shoes with sale signs above. We inquired to be sure of which were discounted. There were two young employees working that day. One tried to help, but was clearly unsure about each thing we asked. We couldn't get the attention of the 2nd, as she was busy on her phone. They weren't unfriendly when we interacted, just complacent. The store didn't have a huge selection by any means, but things were fairly neat. We only visited the upstairs, so I've got no experience in their rentals. In the end we did walk away with new snow shoes, but I wasn't overly impressed on my first visit. read more

Next adventure is on the way up to the mountain making it a great place to rent 3. Adam is there shoe guy and he's excellent at his job. I've been riding boots that were a little to big for my for a long time now he not only helped me find me the right size boots but he also helped make sure I was gonna be comfortable and confident the next time I used them. read more

Wanted to buy a pair of boots, some guy "specialized" for boots kept telling me what should and shouldn't fit my foot. Obviously its my foot and I have been riding for a while so I know what fits. He ended up refusing to get me a bigger size and would only sell me a size 2 whole sizes too small. Definitely do not recommend buying boots here, go to portland if you are willing to make the journey. They helped me out! read more

I have always had a great experience at next adventure until today. I was informed over the phone that they had a really great selection of something I needed, so I made the 25 minute drive. I arrived to find that they didn't have what I was hoping for. A simple "I'm sorry" would have been appreciated. Instead I got a not nice or helpful attitude from the girl at the counter. Less than ideal experience in the rental shop (causing problems on the mountain). Rented for two days, would end up making 3 trips to the shop. Boots were way too small, likely because they were incorrectly fitted. This ruined the first day on the mountain as we had to take more breaks than we hoped for because our feet hurt so bad. Went back and switched out the boots for a bigger size only for those boots to not stay tightly fastened. We had to retighten both pairs of boots every single run (some of the lowest quality gear ever). The bindings we were given broke on the second run of the day as well which led to me literally buying new bindings on the mountain. Not the best experience to say the least, but the employees were fairly nice and didn't add any other charges for the issues encountered. Going to be heading elsewhere for rentals in the future. read more

I stop here frequently on my way to Mt. Hood and am always impressed with the knowledge and friendliness of the employees. Also, they have a fantastic selection of both used and new items. I once forgot my hiking boots and stopped at Next Adventure to pick up literally anything I could hike in. I found a like-new pair of boots in my size for only $20!!! This past weekend I set out to buy XC skis. The line at the Portland location wrapped around the block, and after waiting for 20 minutes and not moving, I realized it would be more time efficient to drive 40 minutes to Sandy. I was the only customer in the shop. The employee was unbelievably helpful. I know very little about XC skis and she told me exactly what type of skis, boots, and poles would work best for me. She even googled the width of the tracks at Teacup Nordic to be sure the skis I liked would fit!! I ended up buying a pair of used backcountry skis with bindings already attached for only $100. I would have bought used boots as well for only $20, but they were a teeny bit too small or too big (fantastic condition though). I cannot recommend Next Adventure enough!! Don't bother stopping anywhere else for whatever outdoor needs you have. You'll find the best prices, selection, and customer service at Next Adventure. read more

The boyfriend is an avid skier and I, on other hand, am new as can be. Since I'm such a newbie, his friends told him to rent skis here. I'm so glad we listened because it was fabulous! Everyone is REALLY nice and prices were great! Walk in and sign in on the one computer to your left. Someone will come and get your shoe size and get you going with everything else. When you're good to go with a slip, go upstairs and pay. I rented skis, boots and poles for $35. They close at 7pm but if you can't make the deadline- it just has to be reTurned the next day by a certain time. Returning it was a breeze too! Definitely coming back for rentals next time! read more

Next Adventure has a great reputation within the Portland area and this includes (or used to include) the Sandy location. My friend and I rented XC skis and were unpleasantly surprised to find halfway through that our skis kept building up snow on the bottom. We'd scrape it off and go again for a little while and eventually gave up and walked (!) - not what you want for a XC skiing adventure. As it clearly was a lack of fresh wax on both of the skis I brought it up when we dropped them off. The guy who checked us in said "thanks for letting me know." He looked at our skis and said "yeah, these definitely need to be waxed". I had to push to get some sort of reimbursement for it - we each got a $20 store credit instead of $ off the skis. Not great but something. It was mindblowing as he was creating a store credit when he said that they had been having a lot of problems with their XC skis not being waxed enough. All said like it was no big deal. So weird. Advise renting elsewhere. read more

Went here for some rentals for our family ski trip and will not be returning. The staff was very friendly when we went to get everything (making sure everything was correct and in order, etc.). However, we noticed that as soon as we arrived at the mountain, the shoe sizes were suddenly much smaller than they were at the shop and barely fit. We did not mix up our shoes either, as the names were written on tape on the back and my son said his shoes were now about 4 sizes smaller when looking at the number. When we came back to return the skis, the man at the counter kept repeating over and over about how "he doesn't usually do this" and he "hates to do this" but charged us for a "scratch" on the ski. For reference, I have been skiing for 20+ years and have had my fair share of ski rental experience. I know what is a scratch and what is not. There was most definitely no scratch that should be charged for and I believe he was attempting to scam me and my family. We paid anyways to not start trouble but be warned when coming here. Also, my son was taking a ski lesson on Mount Hood and explained the problems with his shoes to his instructor, and the instructor said that he and the other instructors do not like Next Adventure rentals for the same reasons I have stated and that the workers are usually very young and not "experienced" enough to do proper fittings. read more

What a great day. In the past I spent $ at a ski store in Gresham. I called that store today to be greeted by folks that didn't seem too happy. I then called Next adventure up the road a ways. They were so kind and inviting. I spoke to Michael on the phone. Great guy! His optimism is what made me drive further. Within 20 minutes he nailed it. The ski boots I purchased were normally $700 on sale for $399. They fit like a glove. Their fitting process is the best I've ever seen. I was so happy I bought more gear like poles and a new helmet. Alex was very detailed in setting bindings correctly. They threw in a hot wax. Going back next week when the same boots come in for my wife. We'll be upgrading all of her gear too. Sometimes going that extra mile is all the difference. Great positive work crew at Sandy Next Adventure. I might just buy an extra set of mogul skis in the near future too. Found this ski shop online and were so impressed with the service we received! We stopped in early to pick up skis and equipment for the kids who had never skied before. The staff were awesome at explaining the skis, bindings, boots and more. Sizing just right. Upon returning our gear they came out to help carry everything back in and the return process with super fast. Their prices are very reasonable and definitely less than at the resorts or further up the mountain. Just Don't wait too late in the day as they are a first come rental. read more

I am planning a trip and went in looking for goggles. They had exactly what I needed for only $39.95. They even fit over my glasses! I also found a nice neck gaiter for only $15. I have bought something similar elsewhere for $30. My husband found some lightweight gloves that he decided will be great for fishing. Very friendly helpful staff and great prices. Have rented here a few times due to their convenient location, but was disappointed with my experience today. There was an older gentleman I've never experienced there who was not as kind or personable as the rest, and when faced with the misfortune of not being able to make it to the mountain due to full parking lots early in the morning (I'd shown up at the same time multiple other weekends and never faced this), I asked if a rain check would be possible and with no sympathy they told me this happens to people all the time and I should have gone earlier and they couldn't do anything for me. Frustrating that I wasted $60, planning to rent from a new company from now on. read more

I will save you guys a the story but at the end I I was told multiple wrong information. And if you want anything it's always at there other warehouse so make sure you book in advance. I could have got a discounted nucanoe f10 with nice seat but instead got another with just a bunch Seat. This was because they told me wrong information about the f10. My husband and I stopped here yesterday on our way to go snowshoeing because one of his poles was missing a basket. The guy behind the counter was super friendly. He helped us right away and ended up just giving us one of the store's spare baskets. Not only did he do that, but he put it on the pole and tightened it up for us. Seriously good customer service! I had a chance to browse around while this was going on and it looks like they have a nice selection of outdoor gear, including lots of cute hats, scarves, gators, etc. My husband had to pull me away from the hats so that we could get on with our day :-) I will definitely come back and also will check out their rentals downstairs next time I need to rent equipment. read more

Quick stop to rent snow shoes on our way up to the mountain. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. We decided to purchase instead of renting and they threw in 2 sets of trekking poles! I do not recommend next adventure. I have never been to an outdoor store with such snooty pretentious people. They don't honor their word, Argued with me for 30 minutes to the point of upsetting me with regard to their own warranty. I absolutely despise the snooty high brow attitudes of their employees. I will never spend another dime at next adventure. NEVER AGAIN. These people will sell you shit for your particular purpose and then claim it is not meant for use the way they recommended it. Next adventure is an amazing snowboard and ski shop! The staff and manager there are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We were headed up to go snowboarding, it was a last minute adventure traveling from San Francisco to Mt. Hood Skibowl. Dana was extremely sweet and we really enjoyed talking to her. We ended up getting goggles, helmets and other gear that we needed for night boarding. Dana loved our dog Lola as well! She took great care of her.
