Over the weekend, our family decided to go to DSG, we ended up spending $149~, it was $100 gift cards and the rest was cash. I didn't realize my toddler slipped in some random $17 socks, so I went in the next day to return them. I was met with Oscar, he was nice. I asked if I could get a cash refund since it was a small amount, he said no, due to it's based on whatever majority payment method was used. I leave it at that, I am disappointed because I really don't need $17 gc, I would like cash back. As I am walking back I am reading the back of the receipt, where it says refund will be made on initial form of payment, not majority used like Oscar advised. I spoke with my husband who was frustrated, told him what I read and what was said. My husband thought of work around, we can buy a more expensive item, use cash first for the majority and use the gift cards for the rest. So my husband goes in to try that. Oscar explains, no we can't do that, that it's the system gravitating towards a card. My husband points out what the receipt says, Oscar says it shows on the website, but does not bring it up. My husband returns to the car frustrated, because Oscar just lied and instead of asking for helped, insisted on dying on the hill the customer isn't always right. At this point, I'm going back into the store. I see Oscar talking among his colleagues talking about what just happened with my husband. Im still nice, but I request a supervisor. Supervisor explains Oscar is wrong it's not Majority it's just how the system works. I ask him, how does he want to correct this, and he just offers to cash it. It was such a simple fix. Oscar just needed guidance on how to navigate. I felt like this issue didn't need us as many times going into the store, If Oscar just asked for guidance in the beginning. It was frustrating experience overall. I'm glad we got the result we wanted, but just having to go through hoops, and it was a waste of time. Personally for me, this location left a poor taste, just because I am in customer service. I felt like the training could have been better. I appreciate the supervisor making it right.

Last August I purchased a $150 pair of Topo Athletic shoes from Shortt. The purchase and fitting experience were exemplary. I have worn them occasionally since then approximately once a week for exercise walking. Recently I noticed that both shoes were abrading a hole at the same location on the inside collar. A call to the manufacturer directed me to the dealer to resolve the problem. On my visit to Shortt I was directed to the manager. It was clear from our first interaction that Shortt would not make any effort to resolve the defect in the product. To add insult to injury, after confirming that the shoes had not been subject to excess wear, I was told that I was at fault in my manner of walking despite 70 years of not having a similar issue with any shoe. No relief was offered. While Shortt has a wealth of excellent apparel, shoes and accessories at premium prices, they clearly have no interest in standing behind their products or making any effort at customer service. This is a business that knows it can overcharge tourists who will never be around to seek a remedy for a faulty product. There are several other reputable shoe options in the Gorge and you should give them your business.

When we made our way to the shoe department, the associates there were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to help. They answered our questions, helped us find the right size, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. It's refreshing to shop somewhere that values customer service and actually takes the time to acknowledge you. Of course, I couldn't leave without finding something for myself! I ended up grabbing a pair of Nike slides, and they've turned out to be one of my favorite purchases lately. They're unbelievably comfortable -- basically like wearing slippers -- and I find myself reaching for them every single day. Overall, it was an easy, enjoyable shopping trip, and I'll definitely be heading back to Dick's the next time we're in the market for shoes.

I ordered a snowboard on the 23rd of January payed for faster shipping (3-5 days) and it's the 8th of February and my board still isn't here. I had a great experience with a gentleman named Michael and another whos named slipped my mind they seemed very willing to do whatever they could to help. sometimes I understand things don't workout. but unfortunately the other 3 phone calls ive had trying to figure the situation out as more time goes on have been awful there are a few snarky and unprofessional employees that fortunately for me I won't ever have to deal with again because I will not continue to do business with this company. read more

The location is very cute and nicely laid out to find just what you need. It is also on the way to the natural Mt. They asked a few questions to figure out what I was looking for and what I had worn before, and then promptly brought out multiple options to meet that criteria. They don't pressure you into sales, and they give you plenty of time to try things on and walk around with them (including on an in-store treadmill). While the prices are maybe 2-3 times as expensive as what you could get for a cheap knockoff on Amazon, it feels good to support a local business and have guidance in choosing the right shoe for you. The store has a rewards program, and they plan various run clubs for the community.

The staff is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also some of the friendliest people I've ever met in any business. Every visit leaves me with a smile--and way more knowledge than I had going in. I've recently taken a few of their classes, and I can honestly say it's the most fulfilling money I've ever spent. I did Spencer Pelham's Clack Attack class as well as his Intro to Fly Fishing, finishing with a float on the Clackamas River today. It was incredible--so many "Ah-ha!" moments where everything just clicked into place. While Clack Attack was a bit technical for my beginner skill level, it was packed with valuable info. Spencer is incredibly skilled, yet humble and patient. He teaches in a way that makes you feel comfortable and supported while still learning a ton. The way he tied the content of both classes together on the river made it all come alive. I should mention--I'm a 52-year-old woman and a recent breast cancer survivor. Getting back out there and doing something like this was emotional, powerful, and healing. Being on the water today felt like reconnecting with an old friend. We caught several beautiful trout and saw osprey, beavers, bald eagles, and more. It was a magical day. Spencer went above and beyond, not just today but every time I've spoken with him. And the whole NWFFO crew? They've created something really rare. From my second visit on, it was "Hey Jen, how are ya?"--the kind of warm, small-town vibe that's hard to find anywhere, let alone in Portland. If you're new to fly fishing or looking to level up, sign up for these classes. Don't be intimidated if you take Clack Attack first--it may seem over your head at first, but it will all click, especially after taking the Intro class.
