An inspection was done on our gas burning fireplace . The technician representing your business said it all checked out. Said it was fine and didn't even need cleaning! we have used it twice since Dec 2025. We had another inspection done today in the hopes of having a gas insert installed. Technician advised us NOT to use fireplace. Chimney does not pass code. Leaks in chimney. Flu is questionable when closed. So, very disappointed and would like an explanation for the cost I was charged for an inadequate inspection. read more

The overall inspection and scheduling process was fine. However, the quality of work done was not. The first picture is the repair job that was complete. The second picture is the resolution to my complaints of the first job. When I shared my concerns with the quality of both jobs and how aesthetically unpleasing it is, I was told they "have completed the work as agreed upon, and unfortunately, there is nothing more we can do to change the appearance of the mortar." A second opinion from a trustworthy local business differed and also led to other concerns with the work done by Beck's. If the work was much neater, the color difference would not be nearly as noticeable. It was also discovered that Beck's smeared mortar on the bricks, perhaps to "repair" them near the top of the chimney. It's really too bad that this is the quality of work this business stands by and deems as acceptable. read more

I had scheduled a chimney sweep and level 2 inspection. Joe arrived right on time and got started. He explained everything to me as he was doing it. He set up the area to keep our space clean of debris. He made sure I understood everything and he even helped me learn to start a fire as I had never done a wood burning one on my own. He heave great recommendations and was very honest. I am from Florida so unaware of what I needed. Once he inspected it he told me there was no need for a level 2 inspection and I really appreciated that because money is tight this time of year and he easily could have kept it. If you have a wood burning fire place I highly recommend get your chimney swept. The value far outweighs the cost. I feel better knowing my fireplace is safe for use. read more

Joe came out to work on our 50-yr-old upper chimney exterior, which was full of cracks and crevices. (He had inspected it and provided the quote earlier in the year.) He tuckpointed as needed, applied a 10-yr warranted water seal, resurfaced and sealed the mortar crown, and resurfaced the soldiering. The cost was significantly less than tearing down and rebuilding the entire upper (above the roof line) chimney, which is what a competitor had recommended and quoted before we contacted Beck's for a 2nd opinion. Joe showed me "after" photos upon completion, which showed great improvement over the "befores". Great job on cleaning up before leaving. read more

This was our first time using a chimney company for our woodstove, so I didn't know what exactly to expect. The actual cleaning of our woodstove took less than 30 minutes and he replaced a few fire bricks. Our total came out over $400. For this much money, I honestly expected much more of detailed inspection. I'm not sure if he even went on the roof, but he never inspected the attic area, which I assumed was included in the service. That aside, when he left I noticed the fire bricks were in the street at the end of our driveway. I was far from impressed and I will look for another company next year. read more

We have Becks come check our chimney each year for an annual cleaning & I absolutely love them! They are very knowledgeable & willing to answer any question we have. Each technician we've had come to our house has been extremely nice to both us & our pets. It always is an added bonus when people acknowledge our dog & cat because while we try to keep them corralled, sometimes they can get in the way when they're really just trying to say hi :) This year, they went above & beyond. Justin was our technician this year & he was extremely personable, showing that he really loves his job & interacting with people. We have our chimney cleaned. There was black dust all over the family room and 1/2 inch size pieces of black soot left around. The person who did the job pointed out a non-code portion of our chimney and said we should get it taken care of. We had placed the order with them before they left. The same person arrived to do the work. The mess left behind was far worse than the cleaning. There were large chunks of concrete (5-8 inches) left in the lawn. There was cement on the mesh screen in front of our fireplace which we could not clean off. We called Beck's and explained the problem. We offered to send photos, which we did. After 10 days went by and we had not heard back, I called again. The rep said they thought we didn't want a reply! Bought a new house and figured the chimney needed a good sweep. Contacted Beck's based on proximity and reviews. They did not disappoint. Joe came out and cleaned a bunch of creosote out of the chimney. He also did a video inspection, which he allowed me to view along with him. Becks does not stand behind their work because they have "extremely talented technicians ". The previous owners of my house had my fireplace serviced during an inspection by Becks at my request. A couple months later, now fire season, the damper is not on track. No one has touched the fireplace since the inspection/cleaning by Becks and they want to charge me $125 to come put it back on track. It already cost a fortune for the cleaning and inspection that obviously wasn't done correctly. And they want to blame me for knocking the damper off. I haven't even touched it before yesterday when the damper was off. Extremely poor service and they don't stand behind their work! read more

Technician arrived on time. Thoroughly inspected chimney with camera which previous two companies (estimator/technicians) did not do. Beck technician's conclusions were totally different than previous 2 estimates. Technician also inspected exterior of chimney which only 1 previous estimate had done. In the end, I felt that Beck's Chimney Sweep did a much more thorough inspection of my chimney than the previous 2 companies. Beck's technician offered (for fee) to clean interior of fire box and gas logs and to check out the placement of logs for more efficient burning. Again, the previous companies did not even offer this service. All in all I would highly recommend Beck's Chimney Sweep. read more

A great experience with this company. Everyone I interacted with was so friendly and helpful from over the phone to in person. The tech, Joe, was a few minutes late, but he called ahead to let me know he was running late from the previous job. He was incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything he was looking for and why it was important to maintaining the fireplace and chimney. I'll admit that I have limited knowledge when it comes to wood burning fireplaces, but Joe explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, yet didn't leave me feeling dumb. I was also very impressed with how clean he left the space around the fireplace. I forgot to remove our Christmas stockings and he worked around them with a spot left anywhere. read more

I do not recommend hiring this company. I was looking for someone to rebuild the top of my chimney. Beck's has a section about doing this type of masonry on their website so I called to set up an estimate appointment. The scheduler confirmed they could do this but when the technician came out he mentioned they actually could not. This is fine except they proceeded to give me an estimate anyway for doing a sealing job instead of rebuild, then charge me $150 for this estimate appointment. I discuss with the owner who instead of admitting that they accidently misled me, says "we do not rebuild chimneys. We did not advise you that we did" and decides to pull up the phone recording of when I called in (they record you when you call). They disagree with the meaning of how I phrased the rebuild to the scheduler ("rebuild below the roof line about 20 layers") and confirms that they will not waive the fee. The hassle over $150 seems like it would be worse if you hired them for a job. read more

We had Beck's do a chimney sweep and dryer vent cleaning earlier this year. They also quoted additional work on our chimney (parging). Due to the project cost we had 2 other sweeps come and look at the chimney. Both were very surprised that we had just had it cleaned. Beck's also missed a gas leak in our log set; a plumber ended up capping off the gas to our fireplace until the problem was fixed. If I wasn't annoyed enough, our dryer stopped drying correctly this month and when the Maytag technician came to check - our dryer vents were packed with lint! Beck's had just cleaned out the front of the line and packed it even tighter in the middle. Argh. The repair man recommended Boston's Dryer Vent Cleaning as one of the few who clean vents correctly and so we hired them and they actually blew out the lint instead of packing it. The dryer works great now and our chimney woes were finally well-resolved by Smalling Masonry. Please call those folks instead and avoid Beck's. read more
