Our chimney foundation settled and the entire brickwork was shifting away from the house. Clean Sweep came out and Sam talked to us about options at different levels. The quoting process was great and easy to compare options. We bit the bullet and decided rather than applying some bandaids, we should get the entire thing rebuilt. This way, WE could enjoy a beautiful fireplace rather than paying for someone else to when the house is eventually sold. The guys at Clean Sweep did a beautiful job! They demoed the old chimney, jackhammered the foundation, poured a new one, and built us a working chimney from (below) the ground up! We opted for a gas log and a nice set of doors to keep the dogs and kiddos out when it's turned off. We were extremely happy with the team, especially our project manager Daniel who answered our endless questions and gave us a lot of confidence. I first called 317 Clean Sweep in early December, 2022, because the chimney cleaning company we'd used for a few years was terrible to deal with the day they were supposed to do a clean. I talked to Sam and he was just great on the phone. He listened to my concerns and got us on their schedule asap. Jake came out to do our cleaning, and long story short, said the liner to our wood burning stove insert needed to be replaced, and we shouldn't have any fires in the meantime for safety reasons. Jake educated us on exactly what was wrong with the liner, how we got to that place, and what our options were. No one likes to spend a bunch of money on things that you don't see, like chimney repair, liners, etc., but safety first! We ended up going with an Ahren fire system, I had never heard of them before Jake filled us in. Our firebox was too small to use as a traditional fireplace so that's why we had the stove put in. But we didn't like it from the start because the 'glass window' on the stove was about the size of an Easybake Oven. But with the Ahren fire system, we'd have the look of a traditional wood-burning fireplace and it would really heat up our space. We asked oodles of questions because that's how we roll and everyone at 317 Clean Sweep answered them quickly and with loads of patience. Our project started on 2/13/2022 with Sam coming in to put plastic on our floors and surrounding our fireplace to keep the dust as contained as possible. The team was very respectful of our home, as quiet as they can be considering the work they were doing, and did a fantastic job inside our home and out. It's been so wonderful to be able to use our fireplace as we'd always hoped to. It's so cozy, beautiful, and warm. We've been putting off getting our fireplace and chimney inspected, but we finally did it this winter because we didn't want another cold season to go by without being able to light a fire. Clean Sweep 317 did a great job cleaning everything out and making sure our fireplace was safe. We also had to get something replaced on our roof that had to do with the chimney (fix the flashing? That sounds about right.) Their price was fair and they were in and out in less than about an hour. They also showed up on time, which is a big plus to me. Called for a second opinion after another firm gave a very cursory inspection and recommended a very expensive solution. Ross and Kevin did a very thorough inspection and let us know the prior inspection was inadequate and incorrect, thereby saving us an enormous amount of money and disruption. I sent a message through their website one evening and got a response early the next day from Noah. Noah gave me an estimate and let me know they could be out the next day. Noah was very courteous over the phone. The next day Sam and Noah both came out and inspected our wood burning fireplace, which did not need to be cleaned at this time. Sam advised he could go ahead with the cleaning or he could just do the inspection, if we wanted it. I decided to just go with the inspection. Sam did a thorough inspection inside the firebox, flue, etc and then proceeded to go outside and up on the roof for further exterior inspection. Sam is very knowledgeable and courteous.
