Stopped by here the other night because my feet were due for a new pair of work boots. Addison, who works here, was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We spent at least a half hour just talking about how feet work and the correct shoes to wear. I had on a pair of Nike Free Runs, and he schooled me that they were no good -- So he hooked me up with a pair of insoles, which completely transformed my Free's for the better. Long story short, Addison knew what my feet needed like a pro. When he rang me up, he gave me his business card. Turns out, Addison's last name is Beck. Grossly understaffed. Just needed to buy the exact same shoe I'd purchased there a few years earlier. Should take about 5 mins. Been by twice in the past month. First time was at 4:50PM on a weekday, sign on door said be back at 5:00, but there were already 2 customers waiting for them to reopen, so I left. Next time I arrived at 3:30PM on a Sat. There were 3 customers in various stages of being helped by the lone clerk. This young woman was quite thorough and very knowledgable as to the products, but it took 40 mins before she was able to start helping me, only then to discover that my shoes were not in stock. read more

This is a great "Old School" shoe store with great service, knowledgeable sales persons, and a great inventory. I have been in this store twice and the first time spent $3 on a pair of shoe laces and got the same great service I did as on my last visit when I bought a great pair of steel toe boots with some perfect insoles to create a comfortable fit. My first pair of Birkenstocks! At my school, you have to wear white socks as part of our uniform. It take so long to change out of Converse and into cleats for my after school sports. So I've been wearing Adidas slides the past few weeks. But, thankfully, my dad agreed to buy me a pair of Birks! Thank you, Andy, for taking care of me. i stopped by this store today and was totally turned off by the blonde overbearing female employee. I have various problems with my feet, my spine and my knees. I like to feel the way a shoe bends, the drop of the shoe, the width of not only the top of the shoe, but also the sole so half my feet dont hang over it. She was uncomfortable with me touching the shoes without her assistance. There was a stack of reduced shoes that in other stores you would normally be allowed to open and look at. The control freak got annoyed because i left some of the tissue hanging out of one box. I asked " I'm not allowed to open the shoe box? and she responded rudely "We have a system here and I will be happy to help you." Maybe I was the wrong race and she didnt think I could afford to make a purchase. I was the only customer and there were two employees, so I think my tissue fiasco could not have created too much of an inconvenience for this store. read more

I am deeply disappointed and humiliated with the service that we received today at this store. The service was from the attendant was rude and unprofessional. Although I did not get the name of the attendant, she was an older lady in a yellow shirt with a pattern. I brought my 70 year old mother into the store on 25 Oct 14 around 330pm to measure her feet and to buy some comfortable walking shoes. I was trying to encourage her to buy some new shoes to get some additional exercise to better her health. We asked for the attendant to come over to help mom with the measurements for her feet. Once she finished taking the measurements, my mom asked the attendant for the size of her feet. The attendant said, well this gives me a range of sizes... My mother asked again, what size is my foot. The attendant then said 1-99. My mom asked a third time what size is my foot? The attendant then said it is from 6-9. Finally after asking a three times and not getting an solid answer my mom left the store feeling frustrated, mad and humiliated. In addition to the poor service, while my mom was leaving the store the attendant said in a loud clear voice "I hope you have a rotten day!" I was appalled and shocked with this unprofessional and unacceptable statement. It was uncalled for and we were humiliated in front of the other customers in the store. I will never recommend any friends or family to go to this store. read more

Great shoes place. Not the fashion shoes, but comfortable well made shoes are what you'll find here. They carry Clarks, Dr Martens, Danskos, S.A.S. (my favorite!! They are still made in the U.S... you dont find that common anymore.. they stand for San Antonio Shoes.. so they are made right there in San Antonio, Texas, and you can't get these online either) ..etc. The sales people are helpful and usually aren't too pushy. They are patient to help you try on many shoes and are friendly enough to chat a bit. Now that I've got arthritis on my left knee, I now spend money to buy nice shoes that don't look sexy anymore. But they are heck of a lot nicer on my feet. They dont have excellent sales there and the selection isn't the greatest, but they do manage to pack quite a good selection into the lil store. Came here over the past weekend and we were helped out by Addison. He was very nice and he definitely had a knack for sales. He brought out a couple of different shoes to try on and even stuff that we had not asked him to. I couldn't believe how much he knew about feet! Who knew that the human foot was so intricate! As for selection, they did have a vast array of different shoes, ranging from uggs to workman's boots. They were have a special that if you bought any Ugg shoe you could get 25% off the rest of your purchase, which is better than getting the measly 10% off that UPS gave to its workers. Anyway, he recommended a sock and a sole that would not only be better for your feet, but for your joints, back, etc. With all of the additions, the total came out to $250. That is quite a lot if you ask me. But for the comfort, you can't be pinching pennies. Addison displayed excellent customer service, but being the 5th generation of Beck's, he made his forefathers proud! read more

I've recently been looking for steel toed boots. Like many other people I have a lot of trouble finding comfortable boots so I have been doing the trial and error method for some time now. Unfortunately most shoe stores have a very limited selection of steel toed boots and they often want you to pay for them first before you order them which can take months to get in. Dave at Beck's shoes understands this problem and they have a huge selection of steel toed boots available to try on as well as the largest selection of inserts to tailor each boot to the wearer as I've ever seen. In my particular case I believe I tried on seven different boots and at least a dozen different inserts to find out which combination worked best for me. Dave was very helpful and accomodating, allowing me the time (4 hours) to find the best combination to provide the greatest comfort available. In addition he knows a vast amount of movie trivia to prevent uncomfortable silences. I have to say this is the best shoe store I have encountered. read more

The worst customer service ever! As soon as I walk in gave him the shoe style and size that I wanted. After 20 minutes I still did not get the shoes. He's asking me about the insoles already even if I didn't get the shoes yet. I told him I want the shoes that I wanted first before we talk about the insoles. I have bought a lot of shoes for both myself and my family at this Becks in Milpitas. My friend and I wanted to get new tennis shoes and thought we would stop by and see their New Balances, a few weeks ago. Although my visits are uneventful most of the time, this was definitely a change from the norm. While I got a pair of tennis shoes, my friend got a pair of boots. We asked a Caucasian lady in her 50s, if we could get the sizes we needed. She looked at us for about 10 seconds or so and said, "Why, do you have vouchers?" I asked her what vouchers she was talking about and she replied, "Well it's usually from work, so you come here and get shoes." I let her know that I don't have a voucher and normally we don't use one. She then proceeded to explain how some businesses in the area would give their workers vouchers to get shoes. I tried to explain to her that we were just either paying cash or with a credit card and she looked at us like she didn't understand. While she was talking to us, two Caucasian women came in the store. They picked up their shoes and asked her for their sized and she replied, "Right away, we should have it." She didn't get our shoes nor was there an explanation. After she helped the two women, my friend and I asked for our sized. She walked away without a word, came back about 30 seconds later and stated that she didn't have either of our sizes. Knowing that they normally will order it or look at other stores in the area if they carry, I asked if she could look at another store. She told me she couldn't. We left and returned the next day hoping to get another person. We got a gentleman and he was able to get us our sizes and we ended up buying two pairs of shoes. Before we left, mentioned the incident to him. He told us we probably misunderstood her. I will no longer go in this store. I won't take my aunt or my mom here anymore nor will I buy shoes from this particular Becks until management resolves this issue. I was absolutely mortified. Obviously our patronage is not something that this store values, if they continue to have someone like this on their staff. From this experience, I'm going to assume that Becks of Milpitas will only cater to a certain demographic and that doesn't include us. read more

If I could rate no stars I would. First of all, my mom and I walked in with a good attitude just trying to find shoes for my brother for work. The store wasn't quite busy. My mom was asking one of the ladies some questions and she straight up gave my mom attitude, her voice was high and all that. My mom stayed calm while asking questions but the lady said some other person was ready to pay but they still didn't get the size of our shoes! So rude, never coming back here again. I walked out the door so pissed at how they talked to my mom. You work at retail, you need to be kind to the customers! I work at a retail store too and Im damn sure I never talk to customers like that, no matter how busy it is. read more

Beck's offers a great selection of work type shoes---the comfy kind that doctors and nurses seem to wear, as well as rugged work boots. Not much else though which is too bad as I really like the people that work here. The sales staff is without equal in regards to the high level of customer service provided. I picked up some leather care products and got a great deal on them as well. Additionally I was able to find a shoe stretcher here. Shoe stretchers are quite hard to find locally nowadays. Fact of the matter is that most people don't use stretchers anymore. If their $20 shoes don't fit they can just throw them away and buy another pair. read more

I have been wearing the same model boot for 20 years The last boot I purchased has a crease in the material were my heal hurts. I only wore the boot for one week and it hurt from day one thinking it would break in but it didn't. Old woman "know it all" clerk told me that the reason my right boot was hurting my heal is because of the way I walk. She said that I caused the crease in the heal of the boot and that it was only going to get worst. I tried explaining and she totally disagreed with me. I could see that we were at odds and was leading to an argument so I just left the store with the worst experience in a shoe sales person ever. We do a lot of business with Beck's and have for years but with this kind of customer service I will talk to our safety department about changing our options. read more

Checked out Beck's since I was recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and found them online. The shoes were on the expensive end, but I guess in comparison to specialized shoes in general, the prices were reasonable. Still a shock to me, since I was new to having to find the "right shoes for my feet". Mark the sales person in the store was fantastic. He was very thorough and knowledgeable about which shoes would help eleveate my condition. Mark made sure to measure my feet, and determine the width and height of my arch. He was able to provide a few recommendations after determining what it was that I needed shoes-wise. Once he got that all straight he was constantly going back and forth from the back room making sure that I tried all the shoes I was interested in the right size, he even checked other becks's stores for availability. He was very accomodating and applied no pressure at all, about what to buy. He gave some great tips and simple suggestions. All this even while accomodating other shoppers. Mark's knowledge about feet and shoes were very good, and a definite plus is that he was pleasant to talk to. A fantastic representative for the business. I know I'll be back. read more

I can't stand going to this place ,but I have to every year because our company requires us to go to becks only due to a contract we have with them.I ordered a pair of boots back in January 28,2016 I called today which is April 6,2016 .when they checked for my boots after a few minutes the guy tells me they been put back in inventory.so because they made a mistake he tells me that the reason was they were put back was they been trying to get a hold of me .for one I been waiting for these boots since January and then they blame ME??!!!! I have not got any call from these people But miraculously they have a pair there today so I can now pick them up. You best bet next contract im pushing for red wings or a place with long lasting quality boots because all the boots here suck they don't last and we got to deal with service like this. read more

As good as it gets for shoe stores. I've been a customer of Beck's since they were in their store in San Jose by the bus depot. That was early 60's. One of the Beck's waited on me. I understand the brothers are twins. When I married my wife she gets all her shoes from Beck's. Only rarely have I found a clerk who I thought was not good. read more

I went to becks today to buy a pair of boots. Kimberly helped me pick out a good set of boots that fit me very well. She measured my feet and tried different types of boots with inserts and without.
