With tables of odds and ends on clearance as soon as you walk in, and merchandise from floor to ceiling from the front of the store to the back of the store, I've never seen so much crammed into one space! This place looks like a "brick and mortar" yard sale. Whomever their merchandising buyer is, they need some advice: Stick to bedding, bath, tabletop, and housewares and forget all of the "as seen of tv" junk that's clogging up your isles. This store is way too small to have this much merchandise and all of the strange odds and ends are... well, odd. If you can manage to get your cart past the "yard sale" in front, the store does have a great selection of household necessities and the employees are helpful, but my ADD brain wants to run kicking and screaming. read more

Beware about shopping at the new Bed, Bath & Beyond ONLINE store. First time I've shopped from them since they closed their physical stores. DO NOT purchase from the 3rd party vendors they use! They will require you to pay return shipping if an item doesn't work out AND they will not give you the full refund of the purchase price! They will keep a restocking fee of 20% (in my case, with the 3rd party vendor NES imports)! I am very disappointed with that kind of return policy. If they're going to use vendors that do that, I might as well order it on Amazon instead of from BB&B, because at least I get free return shipping if it doesn't suit my needs! I had received two gift cards and had been trying for weeks to find out the balance of these two cards, but was unable to do so. I finally got frustrated and put them away for awhile. When I went back to deal with this again, I got the run-around for a couple of days and was FINALLY to talk to a live person, who told me that they were not usable. I questioned that, as they said that the gift cards had no expiration date, but the agent told me that they had not expired, they were just not able to be redeemed or refunded. This seems to me to be false advertising. I will NEVER shop at any Bed Bath & Beyond again!! read more

Had 2 great customer service experiences here this past weekend. 1. Went to the "help desk" and a wonderful woman helped me easily order curtains they currently didn't have enough of in stock. So helpful and friendly, and when asked if I had a coupon she said in the next few day if I got one, come back to get the refund. Sure as heck that afternoon in the mail...a coupon. 2. When I went back to get the refund, the woman was so nice, and had to do some complicated stuff to get it done, but I was patient and understood and she helped me save over $40! I usually shop at the store in Downers Grove but today I happened to be in the area so I stopped here. The store is much smaller with way less inventory. They only have like one of each item so if you want four plates, you're only getting one....stuff that's in boxes. Most of the boxes are damaged so you can't give anything if it's a gift and if you ask a worker if anything is in stock, they really seem like you're bothering them so back to Downers Grove. read more

Just visited new location on Route 59 that opened this week. New look... meh. Wide open as opposed to old design but seemingly less inventory and uninviting design. I hope people come to this website before working with Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I have just had an unpleasant experience, trying to return a rug that was the wrong color. The color was different online. Bed, Bath, and Beyond charged me a third of the price of the rug to return it! Their policy states they would refund me the shipping cost if the error was on their part. Trouble is, they don't accept responsibility. The rug cost over $300 and they refunded me $210, keeping $100 for themselves. After getting nowhere with the customer rep, going round and around about their policy and integrity, I asked to speak to a supervisor. Of course no one was available, but they said someone would call me. However, they refused to say who was calling and when. Of course no one has called. I don't expect them to, and I'm not going to waste my energy waiting, but I will spend my energy placing this review in multiple sites. Don't buy from these people! read more

I had an issue with a return and the store manager called me and got it situated.

I bought an Aerobed mattress from the Naperville, IL store and it has a pin hole leak. The store won't allow for me to return it, so I had to call Aerobed. Aerobed needs a copy of the receipt. In order for me to obtain a copy of my receipt, Bed Bath and Beyond needs to know the time frame I purchased the bed, within 2-3 days, which I don't know of. Without a receipt, I can't get the problem fixed, so I am out the cost of the air mattress. Tell me why exactly I provided my phone number to you at the time of purchase? You can't look up a receipt by a phone number? It is 2020, soon to be 2021, right? Seems your database is a bit outdated! read more

Today it is frigid in my office. Fed up with people tinkering with the thermostat, I went to the Bed Bath & Beyond website to see if they had mini-heaters in stock. I purchased a Vornado heater for $30 which is the perfect size for a desk. I love the feature on the website: not only can you check store availability, but you can put the item on hold. This enables me to be able to pick up this item during my lunchbreak, or any other time that I don't feel like navigating the whole store. When it comes to purchasing my own items, I have had decent experiences here. There are always 20% off coupons floating around, and they do accept expired coupons, so don't throw them away! This was a really great deal when it came to buying dinnerware and a down comforter. I saved at least $20. But any time I've been invited to a bridal shower, and the bride registers here, I've learned to avoid this store, specifically this location. I've run into too many items being out of stock in the store (and other nearby locations), and I'm left to choose between very expensive items like furniture or cheap filler items like a potholder. I can only give it three stars because I can't stand their wedding registry. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this store. Yes, you can find nearly anything and everything here but there's a dire need for improvement in many areas. First of all, this store is so damn cramped. If you have a cart, forget about easily maneuvering about. The side aisles are too narrow to get a cart through without knocking something over. The main aisles are no better, and the people that just stop in the middle of them certainly deserve to be run over by a cart. Then there's the registry process. Like every other bride, BB&B was one of the places we registered at (our main one was myregistry.com, which is the best thing ever). When you've been living with someone for three years but are in a tiny apartment, shopping for your registry is the most stressful thing imaginable. You already have things but you have no room for "nice things." So then you're stuck putting items on your registry that you really don't need but you hope to get so you can return them for cash, or you look to upgrade your things with nice ones (knowing damn well that no one is going to buy you that $300 down comforter or $500 vacuum, anyway). The day we registered, the lady who gave us the scanner stalked us around the store for two hours. Seriously. We couldn't escape her. I don't know if that's their job, but I got to the point where I almost told her to piss off. If I need help, I will find YOU. Don't stalk me like a crazy ex lover. It's annoying and distracting, not to mention creepy. We came back about five months later to add additional items to the registry. This time, we were left alone. Or so I thought. After twenty minutes of wandering around, low and behold we were being stalked by the registry assistant, trying to offer "helpful" advice of things to add. At that point, I'd had enough. We returned the scanner and ran out of the store as though it were on fire. As for the merch itself, you can find some decent stuff here, but for the higher end items you desire, go to Macy's, Williams Sonoma, etc. Don't sacrifice quality for the sake of one-stop shopping for household items. read more

The customer service at check out is HORRIBLE! I went in there to purchase a gift off a wedding registry, one item I had to order..the problem started at check out.. My 20% coupon off ONE item had expired finding this out after spending hundreds on merchandise .I asked the cashier for a complementary one? ( knowing they can/have done this)She gave me a look like I had just insulted her,and went into this speech about we dont have any blah blah blah when I can see the 20% coupon right there on her register! Then wasting my time even more goes behind the sevice desk and makes a pretend phone call to the manager for approval. She FINALLY gives me my 20% with a pissed off look on her face,then hands me my receipt NO thank you,NOTHING!! I havent been back since that evening,and will not ever shop there again. read more

I remember when Bed Bath and Beyond was the embodiment of evil in the big box stores.... Now its a store I can barely walk in without wanting to buy a bunch of stuff. It's particularly fun when you get the 20 percent off coupon in the mail/email... So many things I probably don't need but I really just want when I'm there.... Fun when its not busy. With my 20 percent off coupon today the price for my new knife sharpening system was considerably less than anything I could find online even on eBay. Awful customer service, and nothing is ever in stock. It's obvious from the attitude of the workers that something is wrong. I love the bed bath in Downers, Vernon Hills, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, really everywhere else, so it's clearly a problem with this store. This review is for Jeff and Lucy. They are SO helpful! We came in about a month ago to begin our wedding registry and met with Lucy. She gave us our scanner and asked us questions as to what we needed, how many people we have coming to our wedding etc. We could immediately tell she was very experienced. She took us around the pots/pans aisle, small appliance aisle and tools and explained different things that we may need. After awhile, she left us on our own to wander and find things we may need. We didnt get through the entire store so we will be back soon! We visited on Black Friday to take advantage of their great sale. We desperately needed a new humidifer and found one online that we liked. Unfortunately the store didnt sell it but Jeff was so nice to offer to order it for us, with the discount they were offering and free shipping to our house! With all that was going on in the store that day, we appriciated his helpfulness. The humidifer works great and is just what we wanted! Thanks again! read more

Who doesn't know Bed Bath and Beyond? It's always been a local place to get good deals on stuff for the house. Over the years it has changed / evolved, but mostly the same. Most locations have included regular items for toiletries, like shampoos, body lotion, deodorants, etc. They don't seem to really do the coupons like they used to. Gone are the days when I could walk in there with a handful of coupons. They have gone more towards electric coupons where you can only use one at a time. I went in on Friday at 5pm and knew exactly what I was getting off of my brother's wedding registry. From past experience, going to the back to get the registry printed was a pain. Instead, I picked up what I needed and got the barcode for the registry from my phone on the website. The cashier was friendly and helpful. She was the one that told me about the barcode online. The volume of merchandise is overwhelming, so it's a specific-need destination place. The employees are super-helpful, and I love that I can walk in with a stack of expired coupons and get 20% off each item (up to 5 items, I think). I just had to leave this review to let everyone know how awful Bed Bath & Beyond is. I went through a horrible experience with a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. I had to return no less than 3 of their mixers due to obvious defects (scratches, dents, defective motors) right out of the box - obvious defectives that should have been returned to the manufacturer instead of resold. Exchanging these was a huge run around each time, each time taking over an hour inside the store for them to figure it out. After the last defective one, I finally got so fed up that I gave up on BBB and called Kitchenaid themselves. They immediately sent me out a new one from their headquarters, and miraculously that one was flawless. Do NOT go through BBB for a Kitchenaid mixer - they resell defective items. My second (and last) experience with them is so far just as bad. I ordered a Demeyere Proline skillet, not wanting to deal with this company again but lured in by their 20% offer, and then in a stroke of luck a flash sale occurred that got me an even better price. I called BBB, asked them if they could cancel the order since it had only been a few hours since I'd placed it. They said YES, sure, it was cancelled. Well big surprise, the item ships out. I call again. Someone else tells me they got the cancellation, but sorry...it shipped out anyway. No other explanation. He says he put a return to sender on the package and assured me it won't be delivered. I've been following the tracking number and so far it's showing it's still on it's way to being delivered to me. I normally do not use this word, but I really do HATE Bed Bath and Beyond. They are possibly the worst company I've ever dealt with. Update: it's now been 9 days since my item was delivered back, 3 calls to the company later, and I still have yet to get my refund. How is this company still in business? Update again: Well, I never got my refund after almost a MONTH. I had to open a paypal dispute in order to get it back. I've never experienced such bad service. Never, never again will I shop or recommend Bed Bath and Beyond. read more

Just purchased a beautiful King sized comforter set. I wanted to return the comforter because some of the stitching came out in the wash even though I followed the washing instructions. I even drove to my mom's house to wash the large King comforter, since she has a King as well and washes hers often. I was very frustrated to see the stitching come off because of spending a decent amount of money on the comforter. I called the BB&B store. The customer service associate on the phone was pleasant and gave me solutions on what I could do immediately; no run around, no hassle. I brought the comforter into the store and was helped by the same lady. As soon as I walked in the door she assisted me, made my even exchange simple and streamlined. She gave me suggestions on what to do differently that would prevent the stitching coming loose for next time as well. I was out the door within 10min with the new comforter in hand. Thank you BB&B for turning an awful situation into a positive one and making this customer feel taken care of! Also, that lady should get a raise! Seriously. read more

My experience with store is very nice as far as service goes. Their service is excellent and the sales people are very courteous and helpful. I had bought a Vaccum cleaner from here. After using it for nearly 6-7 months, I felt it wasn't working as well as it did in the beginning. Even though I did not have a receipt, they helped me out and allowed me to buy another one, using the same money from the previous Vaccum. Very few store in my opinion provide this kind of service. read more
