A very welcome addition to a neighborhood that is lacking in inexpensive, quality takeout (the place itself is also nice to eat in, if small). Everything we've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and not at all greasy. And they're very friendly: not only do they give me a mint tea every time I stop by to pick up food, but the last time we ordered delivery, they enclosed two complemetary cups of mint tea, along with a piece of delicious almond cake! I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Actually I ended up here because I was going to try the Halal food by Taqwa Masjid and I couldn't bring myself to eat over there cause all the places looked disgusting. So after searching for another Halal restaurant I ended up here. It was worth the far away trip from my home. They are a very neat and clean restaurant.. Beautiful atmosphere and environment. When I arrived I saw they had seating inside but they offered I sit in the garden which I did. I took pictures and put them on Yelp. The garden outside is beautiful and relaxing. They gave me their lunch special menu.. Everything is $7.They have a selection of entrees and pizzas. I had the Menguez platter which is a lamb sausage it came with Hummus, salad and pita bread. It stated on the menu that it was spicy. And it was a little spicy. It was perfect. It wasn't bland.. It had just the right kick. They also had Mint Tea... Which I ordered. The waiter was courteous and friendly and service was quick. I recommend this place to anyone who wants an inexpensive REALLY NICE place to eat. read more

I cannot figure out how these positive reviews can be from real customers. We ordered food from here yesterday. Out of three coworkers, two of us became violently ill, and we ordered completely different things! To be honest, even if WITH the low-level food poisoning, I might have given it two stars, but the falafel was completely flavorless and the hummus wasn't much better. The "pita" was a heated-up flour tortilla that tasted like the cheap ones you get at the supermarket. Possibly we just caught them on an off day, but seriously, how hard is it to make falafel and hummus? And you really couldn't run to the corner store for a bag of pita instead of giving us tortillas? I am NOT a food snob. I love almost everything I eat. You can check my other reviews, and you'll see that I generally review places I like. When I was in college, I worked at a Middle Eastern deli, so I know my way around Middle Eastern food. We ordered dinner off Seamless. First of all, I was surprised the hummus didn't have any garlic. It was super bland. I had the falafel, which was dry. And the ful salad, which was basically fava beans with chopped tomatoes. No spice or flavoring whatsoever. The worst thing about it was after dinner, my partner and I both had cramps and stomach aches. I went to bed thinking it would pass, but at 2 am, I was in the bathroom with a terrible case of food poisoning - vomiting. So terrible I had to call in sick to work the next day. I would definitely avoid this place. I don't understand how someone can get food poisoning from something as simple as falafel, hummus and ful. read more

I read all of the great reviews and really wanted to like this place, just to have a Mediterranean go-to place in the neighborhood. I ordered delivery, and the dish I had was wrapped with soggy pastry on the outside. I counted 10 tiny, dry pieces of chicken and about a pound of rice. The rice was tasty, but I was very disappointed by the chicken. I felt that it was definitely not worth the price ($13). We ordered delivery. And at first things went very very wrong, delivery took an hour, and they forgot one dish. So why four stars? I'm convinced that the delivery problems were an anomaly. They felt bad about the late delivery so they included two pieces of delicious baklava and tea. They came back later with our missing dish, and comped us the price, and were generally lovely and nice about the entire mess. But the 4 stars are really because of the pita. It's really more flatbread, but it is warm, chewy and delicious. So few places actually make their own brad, but the bread alone will keep me coming back. They deliver extremely fast but I feel like the delivered portions are smaller than the eat in portions. You do have to order carefully though because they are better at some things than others. The chicken platter is delicious, well seasoned, with a very good side salad. The veggie platter is basically a larger salad and a bunch of onions - no good. Food is tasteless and honestly I never had hummus without flavor before..this place tastes like they just mixed chic peas with tahini and added no flavor no salt nothing. I was initially not happy with them because I was told they would not deliver to me even though I live in Windsor Terrace (just the part by the other circle). Garlic bread was surprisingly unflavorful, the chicken platter had a nice salad, but the tiny bit of hummus was almost an after thought. The chicken was rubbery and tasted like they used Olde El Paso taco seasoning... And the service was grumpy, at best. I don't take writing a bad review lightly, as I know how much it can hurt a business, but EVERYTHING my boyfriend and I ordered from this place on Seamless had less than no taste. From the beet and the potato salad, to the chicken platter, the food tasted like it had been cooked, washed, let stand in water to drain it of flavor some more and then delivered ice cold and flavorless. They really skimped on the tahini (one tiny container for two falafel platters?). The baklava was burnt. The semolina cake was like chewing on a yellow rubber ball. This is our sixth visit to Bedawi Cafe, and the only time we've been very disappointed. We order the same food each time. The Bedawi Salad, which is usually flavorful, was bland and served with less than ripe tomatoes. The Lamb Platter was equally unsatisfactory due to wilted and rotted lettuce and the addition of an herb (sumac) which was not requested and caused a burning sensation in the tongue. On the positive side, the staff is warm and friendly, and the whole wheat pita is nice and warm. Additionally, we were given complimentary dessert portions of corn bread. Because we had become accustomed to flavorful, fresh food and this was not the case during this visit it is unlikely that we will return. read more

They don't seem to like to check up on their customers and need to be flagged down for service. And that is totally acceptable with a full restaurant. But, when the place is almost entirely empty? I'm not so sure about that. They advertise lunch specials and then when you try and order one, they then explain that it is only takeout or delivery orders. LOVE Bedawi! I'm almost hesitant to review it because I want to keep it all to myself. It's a small place and doesn't look too busy from the outside most nights, but the food is great. The main waitress (I think her name is Michelle) is very sweet, attentive, and accomodating. My favorite dish is kinda like a Mediterranean take on a chicken pot pie without gravy.
