This is the absolute best ice cream. I have never had an ice cream that even remotely compares to Kimballs. The raspberry chip is a family favorite, the blueberry crumble, ginger snap molasses, chocolate peanut butter, moo tracks, peanut butter Oreo, pumpkin, m&m are all delicious but you can't go wrong with any options. There are some picnic tables, a beautiful garden with benches, cutie goats, and a giant parking lot. The portions are absolutely huge. Even a micro is a good portion of ice cream! The staff are all really friendly. They will answer flavor questions, let you sample etc. for those of us with allergies, they have nutrition information about their ice cream bases and can usually tell you what's been added to the bases to make the flavors. They have dairy free, sugar free, frozen yogurt, sorbet/sherbet options as well! I had a sprite float with raspberry sherbet that was to die for. We ordered our ice cream and had two bites of it before getting absolutely swarmed and ended up just tossing it into the bin. Waste of $6 but better than getting stung or constantly having to duck and dodge the bees. This place came up in my Yelp suggestions and I am so glad I tried it! The ice cream is so good! I got the cookies n' cream in a kiddie cup, which is one big scoop. The small is about two big scoops, and the medium (and up) is about "the size of your head" according to the other patron on the line, LOL. The kiddie cup was just right. I would recommend a cup, because it melts so quickly in summertime. If you really want a cone, you can ask for a cup with it. They have lots of picnic tables and benches on the side and in the back. There are also some barn animals on the side, but not as many as the other farm. Service is fast and friendly. I recommend it, if you're in the area. read more

My friend has been coming here since he was small so he knew it would be great. 18 holes of miniature golf was 13.00 so I think tht was a good deal. First time here while visiting Massachusetts. They have a lot of different flavors, and options which is always nice. Before I ordered, I was warned about the serving sizes. They have huge servings so I got the mini which was I believe was almost $4. The ice cream itself was really good. I got the raspberry chocolate chip which was basically just a raspberry flavored ice cream with chocolate chips in it, hence the name. It was perfect creamy and not too sweet and full of flavor. My only complaint was the customer service. The girl at the counter was rude and seemed extremely irritated with us. You could tell she didn't want to be there. Cute, little ice cream stand on the side of a beautiful residential/farm road. You can't get more than one flavor in a small, and I was too indecisive to choose just one, so I got a large, and it was straight up a pint of ice cream. (I mean, I'm not complaining, but when the other reviews tell you that the portions are huge, they aren't kidding!) I visited on a Friday night around 8pm, and the place was packed. They had multiple windows open, though, so the line went by quickly. The drive out here itself is enough to bring me back, but the ice cream and the wild portions definitely make me want to bring all of my friends and family here when they're visiting from CA. Massive portion sizes!!! Yes, that's the first thing I noticed about this place. That and it was packed with people (apparently Bedford Farms has even longer lines) at 3 PM on a Friday. They have a huge selection of flavors and daily specials. I got the kiddie (second smallest size) and it was still huge. The chocolate chocolate truffle was too sweet for my taste. However, I got a large strawberry to go and it was delicious. The way to get the best bang for your buck is to share a larger size between multiple people. We went for ice cream tonight at 8:40. Waited 20 minutes. When it was our turn to step up to order- they put a closed sign in the window and closed it. And the server declared that they closed at 9 tonight for new hours. All that time waiting and turned away! There were 6 people working but ignoring us. Worst service and rude. They could have at least turned us away while we spent all that time in line. Very disappointed. Their new hours were not updated on their website nor posted in any visible area. Absolutely no complaints at this Kimball Farm location. They had a great system down with social distancing and several windows open. Who knew at 10 in the morning ice cream would be so popular?! The flavor list is fantastic. They have the full selection that you'd find at the mothership location. Hard to make a decision with all the great choices! A kiddie is huge. I can't imagine how big a large is. More than enough for two people to split with just the one scoop. We went with malted milk moo. I had to giggle when I ordered that name. Been visiting family in Bedford, MA over 25 years, and a must "stop" every visit has been Kimball Farm in Carlisle or Westford, MA for their huge selection, oversize portion for the price, and unusual 'old fashion taste and quality ice cream. It was a huge "best value." Something similar is not available in VA. What I found in 2024 was a surprising change - the selection was still unusual, but the portion was leveled off at the top of the cup where before the scoop was several inches above that mark; and the price seemed higher. Also, the texture was completely changed for the worse. No longer like a scoop of "old fashion" ice cream, the texture was like toffee or a stretchy material that could be pulled and molded into peaks. It was different. I was interested in this change so I visited their competitor, Bedford Farms, and found they still sold the "old fashion" scoop of ice cream, round and the old familiar texture, in a slightly different cup, but rounded above the level of the cup, and not surprisingly, about the same price. Though I liked some flavors at Kimball Farm that were not available at Bedford Farm, I think we will be visiting Bedford Farms in future visits. read more
