Go here for the Whistle Stop cake, which sometimes they'll give you slices of and sometimes they'll say you can only get the full cake (which is frustrating!) A wonderful catering company and a lovely gormet shop. Just went to a party catered by them and every sip and bite was delicious!

TLDR: good food, but extremely overpriced. Bedford Gourmet is centrally located and has plenty of parking. There is a wide variety of options for food, including different sandwiches, soups, noodles, and hot and cold drinks. One issue here is that everything is wildly overpriced. It costs almost $7 per half sandwich, so almost $14 for a full sandwich that's made with regular sandwich bread. I'm sorry, but the quality does not match the prices. Don't get me wrong, they're tasty, but so were the sandwiches at the now closed village green deli. What makes these sandwiches deserving of such a hefty price tag? Additionally, the staff members are cold and often rude. Several other Bedford residents have commented to me on separate occasions that they felt like the employees act like they either don't have time for you or are doing you a favor by handing you the premade food you are paying for. That pretty much sums it up. I also heard recently that they got rid of the discount they had for first responders, "because too many people were using it." I did not confirm this with the BG team, myself, but isn't that what a discount is for? For a particular group to use it? Anyways -- bought 3 chicken curry sandwiches recently and paid $45 after tax. This place follows covid protocol. It also has amazing iced coffee! I wish I lived closer. Supposedly they offer coffee ice cubes during the hot seasons. I will be back for those! read more

We ordered from the catering menu on the holiday weekend, based off of a recommendation from someone who has previously ordered from them before and asked to hold for one day until we provided the credit card but when we checked back two days later the business has already given up our service staff and said that they are no longer able to cater our event. I wish they communicated this to us earlier. no apology was offered. It seems that they only care about making money. not about their customers. read more

I'll be in a little bit overpriced, I do enjoy their food. And frankly I do not mind spending a little extra to enjoy good things, but if the service could come with a smile I probably go more often. There is an air of pretentiousness and all of their workers. Having lived in Bedford for more than 20 years one of the things that I love the most about my community is how non-pretentious it is, and how there is a friendly charm in almost all of the businesses. So if the owner of BG reads this maybe take a moment to stress friendliness. It goes a very long way! read more

Bedford gourmet is incredible. The new location is way more convenient with parking, outside tables and much lager inside. The staff is super friendly and will help you with anything..ordering, catering etc. Everything is delicious, the 1/2 sandwiches are perfect and my favorite is the turkey and cranberry. Everyday they make these homemade muffins which are large and exquisite. By the end of the day they are all gone. Everything is delicious, large variety of cheeses, crackers, cookies, napkins...this place has everything! read more

Bedford Gourmet catered a Celebration of Life event on 6/29/2019 and it was spectacular. From the very first phone contact I knew we had chosen wisely. The planning was smooth and accommodating, the site visit made us all feel comfortable with our choices and the actual event went without a hitch. The on-site staff was amazing, The set up was executed so seamlessly and eveything appeared as if by magic. The food presentation was creative, beautiful and accessible. Now the food! So good! The feedback from guests was terrific and and justly so. Besides the most inviting displays of delicious food and drink, it was really the staff who made it so magical. Chef Estee and her completely professional crew anticipated our every need and represented Bedford Gourmet perfectly. Happened on this shop by accident. They have high quality selections of freshly made foods. And high end processed stuff--pasta, yogurt, cookies. It's crowded with product that gives it the appearance of being dirty. read more

Since opening the new location, the Bedford Gourmet has become my absolute favorite place to eat a quick bite or indulge in a delicious pastry in all of Bedford and the towns surrounding it. The new location is not only clean, and well stocked, but it creates a warm and inviting atmosphere for the many patrons (and regulars, including me) it sees throughout the day. The amazing setting gives way to excellent service behind the counter. Alex, the owner of the shop, is always there to help you with your order and provide you with a story behind the days new dishes and specials. She and her team really do a fine job at making the experience as pleasant as possible. But all of this would be for naught if it weren't for the food. And thank god for this amazing selection. Every day there's a new delicious special, along with the classics like the turkey cranberry sandwich and the sesame noodles, that will leave you happy and longing to go back to try something else. From the fresh bread, to the amazing pastries and the freshest by the pound prepared foods, The Bedford Gourmet really hits it out of the park in all three categories. This shop is a jewel. The food is delicious. The owner is awesome. When my father passed away, Alex stepped up to cater his service with fantastic food at a reasonable cost. The servers could not have been more kind or helpful. The presentation was beautiful, too. I would give Bedford Gourmet more stars if I could. read more

Over priced. Period end of story. The food is pretty good, but for my money no better than other options out there. I won't use them again.
