I DID NOT want to spend $20 for my baby girl's haircut! Last time, I went to Super Cuts, and I was surprised it cost that much to cut 3 inches that grew again in a couple of weeks. Then some of my peeps were like, "You can cut it yourself." Ummm. NO. I DID NOT want to do that either. Have you seen the posters on my classroom walls?!? They're all crooked! I can't get anything straight! It would drive me crazy if her hair is crooked, and I'm going to keep cutting to try to make it straight until I end up shaving her head off! I looked for a Ranch 99 or an Asian shopping center, hoping to find a cheap haircut place. And ta-da! I found this place! There were two people getting a haircut and 2 people waiting. The haircutter guy said 10 minutes? I'm not sure, but then when one customer was done, he pointed to us and said in his thick accent, "You're next." "Her?!?" I was surprised cuz we jut got there. I was kind of hoping we could wait a little bit cuz I was trying to teach my daughter patience while waiting. The lady on my right said, "I've been waiting for two hours." Dang. Get her out of here! That was NOT the kind of waiting I wanted my daughter to experience. "Ummm, yeah they've been here before us. You can go first," I pointed to both of them. Let them argue with each other who's next. I kinda felt awkward, the other customers hatin' on me. So the haircutter told the gal on my left she can go, after he said, "Well, she's a kid. You don't want her to wait." I THINK that's what he said. Again, his accent was very thick and I couldn't understand him well. The lady on my left said, "She's been here for two hours..." To which the haircutter guy said, "Do you want a haircut or not?" OHHH SNAAAP!!! You better go woman, or he might shave your head off! He must have something against the other woman on my right. When she finally had her turn, though, it sounded like she goes there all the time, like they're familiar with each other, and the woman has shared stories with the haircutter before. I still give this place five stars because the woman who cut my daughter's hair was fantastic. Before the haircut my daughter hissy fits cuz she didn't want to get a haircut. She really loved her new do! And I only paid $13 for having her hair cut 3 or 4 inches. The drama was kind of exciting. I don't watch a lot of TV and I thought what happened in there was entertaining. So, hopefully, you'll get to experience the same entertainment. So I brought in a picture of how I wanted my hair, the lady took one QUICK glance at it and said "yeah, okay" and started snipping away. The cut wasn't quite like the picture, the length was, but that was it. and that's probably cause I kept saying at the beginning, just up to the shoulder, not any shorter. She gave me way too many layers which ended up making the haircut kinda look like it's going inward at the bottom, when it was suppose to be all one length and a couple snippets at the bottom so it doesn't look like just chopped it across. But it does look like they just cut it across and added layers. I'm Asian myself, so I'm not being racist or anything, but I notice a lot of Asian hairstylists never really listen to how you want you hair to be. They just go about doing the only styles they know best. read more

I come here every 2 months to get my hair cut. They get the job done for 13 bucks for men. The only concern I have is when they put a new-by on you. Once who can't hold the comb and scissor without dropping it 5-6 times during your hair cut. It worries me when I get stuck with a rookie who drops the comb or scissors a few times during the cut. How well is you technique dude? Its like, "damn...should I say something now?" I guess the ways i can think of it....is guess I'll be your guinea pig for today suckerdees!!! read more

We got in around 12:30pm, close to their lunch hour. At the time, there was 2 hair stylists working on people's hair. The owner of the hair salon was the one who dyed my hair. It was helpful, when he gave me a book full of sample hair, varying in color. At the end of the decision-making, we ended up deciding on the red mahogany (that has a brownish/red tint to it). What's surprising is that they worked on my hair for about 3 hours. It was ridicules. I was literally out of my mind, by the time I left. What's nice about this hair salon is that they give you great head massages, when they wash your hair. The hair stylist literally washed my hair for about 15 minutes. I would recommend this place to friends. Be sure to set aside an entire afternoon if you're planning on dying your hair. read more

The worst hair cut I have ever had... I just needed to trim my hair cos I like my hair style from another salon, and the salon is a little too far from my home. The hair "stylist" asked me if I want to keep the hair style, I said YES. Then he started....20 min later, I found he cutted a way too short on one side, I told him it's not balance and too short, he started cutting the other side even shorter...gosh...I look like a BOY now...and I don't see any style at all...it looks like the same hair style the man has who was sitting next to me...How do I go back to work tomorrow??? I FINALLY CUT MY HAIR INTO LAYERS! IT WAS SO COOL! Of course, at first it looked butt-ugly. Seriously, I looked JAPANESE. (I'm chinese.) But it was all good after awhile. My hair grew fast. Now it looks natural and I'm very satisfied. Though the guy (owner) kind of cut my right side a little short... it's okay. It gives me a flair, I guess. So it was expensive. Yeah. Went with my mom, and together it cost us $40. Wowee! So. I think I can cut my own hair from now on. I don't think I need to spend $20 if I'm only trimming my hair, right? I visited around 2:50pm, and it's empty. Finished up and got out about 3:30pm. The stylist did a good job for my hair and fair for the price. I paid $3 extra for hair wash before the cutting, and it is worth every buck. In my case, the total for man's hair cut is $16 ($13 for cut + $3 for wash). The result is pretty decent given the price, and I'm satisfied. The only inconvenience is that they only take cash, and I have to pay an extra travel to ATM, which is next door . I'll recommend this place for any guy who is looking for a nice and quick hair cut. read more

This might be a good place for a basic haircut... as in just chop stuff off. I decided to give this place a try since a friend who lives nearby recommended it for the cheap price. I asked for long layers, and ended up with a chunk of long hair in the back and random shorter lengths throughout. The layers were in pieces that ended in harsh, straight ends. Very "FOB" and outdated haircut. I'm waiting for my hair to grow back and the hunt for a good hair stylist goes on. read more

He really does boy cuts very well and very tidily. Well, my straight, fine black hair only gets cut either short or shorter. It's really hard for me to get a hair cut because I have really frizzy, thick islander hair. I'm very specific of how I want it to be cut because of terrible past experiences. I came in with a goal in mind and some pictures of how I wanted it. My friend from work came with me and they both spoke Vietnamese so I guess it helped make it a more comfortable experience. Regardless, it was a great experience. Chi Ha (I think that's how you spell her name) was the one who cut my hair. She was very patient and professional and she did everything I asked. I always ask for something a little longer than what I have in mind because stylists always seem to want to chop off more than I asked but she did exactly how I asked so I could have probably gone without the leeway. She even flat iron and styled it! Overall, great experience and great price ($20) for a haircut that was worth more than what I paid! read more

okay this is the BEST place for anyone who has curly, frizzy, and veeery hard to tame hair. but, you have to be sure to ask for Michael. His wife cuts really well too but only if you have silky straight typical asian hair (she gave my cousin wonderful volume and layers...usually her hair always comes out flat with other stylists). Michael is really quiet but he's such a nice guy. I suggest bringing in a picture of a haircut that you REALLY want, cause he can recreate it. He charges $18 which is really decent for his awesome work. My boyfriend loves him too and since we both moved to Davis for college, we drive for 2 and a half hours just to get our hair cut by him. edit: tiffany, you totally shouldve asked for michael! i havent tried anyone else except him because quite honestly i dont trust them just by observing the way they cut...plus no one ever wants to get their hair cut by them ahahaha. michael is the salon owner and he is also the one that trains the other girls. when he cuts my hair, he tells them what he's doing, and most of the time they seem to just nod nonchalantly. ive actually learned a lot just by watching the way he cuts and they probably would too if they actually cared and paid attention! read more

My husband's spot for regular 2-3 week haircuts. We love that we can drop in even on weekends. If we need to wait, never is it more than 30 mins. They are accommodating and friendly enough as a local neighborhood hair salon should be. Not new and super clean, but sanitary enough. Price is good for what you get. They get the hairdo job done right. :) I haven't tried ladies haircut yet, but they seems to cut a lot for men regularly. My husband would recommend this place for men's haircut at least! read more

I have been going here for 10 years now and the owner Michael does a wonderful job. I used to change my hairstyle very frequently and he was always able to recreate the style. If I want only 1/2 an inch to be cut/trimmed, he does exactly that. If I want super layered he'll ask me where I want my first layer to be and will do as I ask. I have never gone to his wife or the other hair stylists so I can't say but I am always pleased with the outcome. I once made a mistake and went across the street to some guy who messed up my hair (he layered my hair very uneven-I know how can you go wrong with layered hair) and had to go back to Michael so he could fix it. But you have to know what you want before you come in and don't assume he knows what you mean when you say you only want a trim. Tell him exactly how long you want it. Lastly, this place just recently raised their prices up $5.00 but it doesn't bother me b/c I tip Michael at least $10 bucks. I've gone to expensive salons and don't feel they do as good as a job as Michael does. **Also, for the guys who only want clippers to be used since you have longer/spiky hair Michel is the guy to go to. read more

My son and I just came from Gen Korean BBQ and I decided to give this place a try since my son needed a haircut and it would save me a trip from driving all the way down to Tully Road. I told one of the ladies he needed a 0 and a 2 fade. She said okay and had another lady go ahead and sit my son down and she started to cut I got there at 11:35 p.m. and didn't leave until 12:15 p.m. It took her more than 30 minutes just to give my son a quick fade. I have no idea if the lady was a rookie and they had her use my son as the guinea pig, but the place I usually take him to only takes 10 - 15 minutes! Right when I'd think she was done, she would start cutting again. I still tipped though, just because... actually I don't know why. When I got in the car, I took a look at my son's haircut and it kinda looked like she put a bowl on his head and cut away. I could've done that at home. I most likely will not be coming back to this place... I gave two stars though because the first lady was pretty nice. read more
