A friendly staff and order ready for delivery to the table. A good clam chowder on a cold day is exactly what we needed! Efficient chips were on point. First time at this restaurant, but we'll absolutely try it again.

Loaded clam chowder bowl. 28$ Not worth it. No it was messy on the outside before we dug in. It didn't look cute either it looked sloppy.

The service was okay until we asked for some lemon, then we got lemon tossed on our table with now we are bothering them attitude. The loaded clam chowder was NOT worth 28$ that we got charged for. They also have no price on it because they make it up comparing it to market value for shrimp. It was frozen salad bag shrimp on top and did I mention the chowder was less than warm; It was less than warm chowder with COLD tiny shrimp on top! I told my husband not to eat it but he said he wasn't wasting money. Place was a market with the little dining area off to the side. It's decorated like every other fish joint. Won't be back, if your looking for good fish same prices but so much better try Bennett's fish shack!

Stopped in for lunch, our first visit. This place had been here a long time and looks it. We shared a four piece fish and chips and a cup of chowder. The chowder was delicious. The chips were hot and crispy on the outside, delicious. The fish had a light crunchy breading and the fish was moist and tender, delicious. You should give this place a try!

Much better food than we expected. They prep a lot of it on site. Sit outside on the deck if you can. Get the 3 piece cod and fries. See our YouTube channel Coolest Life.

Combo platter came with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, fish (cod and halibut), calamari, and prawns.

Our friends who live in Ocean Shores part-time recommended Breakwater for fish and chips. Wow! Delicious! We ordered the combination platter which was more than enough for both of us. We also ordered a large cup of clam chowder. We enjoyed our battered cod, halibut, prawns, and calamari. The combo came with chips (fries) and we added coleslaw and unsweetened tea. The seafood was crispy outside and tender inside. With the tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, slice of lemon, and malt vinegar, our dinner was complete. The fries were perfect! The clam chowder was delicious! We loved that the seafood and fries weren't greasy. Which means that the oil was hot and the food was cooked correctly. At some places, their fish and chips are soaked in oil. Not cooked correctly. Everything tasted fresh. Nice views too. Not a fancy place, which is completely fine. We prefer casual places with good food. Prices are reasonable. The servers were wonderful! If you love fish and chips, try this place. You'll be glad you did.

    Steamed Clams

Ordered the steamed clams. Nearly all of them were closed. Either bad clams or bad cooking, but either way, they shouldn't have made it to the table this way.

Breakwater Seafoods & Chowder House is a fish market that also has a fast casual restaurant attached to it. Even though we came within an hour of closing, there were multiple people buying fish and several in the dining area chowing down on some delicious looking fish & chips. The restaurant is right on the water, although it was dark so we couldn't really enjoy the view. 2 Piece Cod & Chips ($14) - This includes two fried pieces of mildly flavored, tender and flaky cod. The breading has a good thickness and is fried well, resulting in a fantastic crisp and yet is not oily or greasy at all. The fries are normal commercial lightly-breaded fries, but fried well to a crisp, yet remaining tender inside. The dish comes with a 2 oz portion of tartar sauce that's fresh, tangy, and creamy; a perfect accompaniment. (4/5) Sourdough Bread Bowl w/ Chowder ($15) - The chowder is delicious. It's thick, creamy, perfectly seasoned, with a generous amount of tender cubed potato, chopped clams, and even some bacon, giving a burst of salty umami. The bread bowl is actually toasted with butter, on both the top piece that's carved out and the rim of the bowl, adding additional texture and richness. I haven't seen this in any other bread bowl before, so it's a very nice touch. The bread bowl is very small (one of the smallest I've seen) and, unfortunately, seems to be a commercial one, so it's a bit bready and dense, and has that fast fermentation/preservative taste characteristic of a commercial bread. They call it sourdough, but there's no hint of any rich sourdough flavor whatsoever. I still think the dish overall is very good, but it could be improved by using a bakery-fresh bread bowl. Although, I'm not sure if there are actually any bakeries in the vicinity, which might explain why they choose to use the commercial bread. Since the bowl is small, the amount of soup also isn't that generous. It's probably only 8oz, so you're essentially paying $10 extra for the bread bowl since an 8oz cup is normally $4.99. Another minor issue I had is with the paper covered tray they serve the dish on. Since this is a soup, it overflows from the bowl as it's eaten and soaks into the tray, making the table kind of soggy afterwards. Now I know I have a lot of critiques here, but I do think this dish overall is good and I would get it again, maybe with an additional portion of soup to go along with it. (4/5) Hopefully the next time I come it will be during the day time so I can enjoy the view of the river.

A wonderful seafood restaurant in Aberdeen! Their online ordering system through ChowNow is very smooth. Seating is casual, condiments are plentiful and they have a nice view of the river from the windows and umbrella-covered tables on their deck outside. - Fish and chips: the fries were finger-licking awesome! Crispy on the outside, pillowy potato on the inside. The fish was pretty good and breaded with panko. - Clam chowder: wonderful! Just $3.99 for 8oz, the chowder was very flavorful and not too heavy with lots of seafood bits inside. - Crab grilled cheese sandwich: definitely a guilty pleasure. It was greasy and succulent with a generous amount of fresh crab meat. The food was great, with excellent prices compared to the city! We had a pleasant experience here.

Went on a quiet, off-season weekday and we were the only customers. At first I thought I may have made a mistake; will I get sick from the seafood here? But it ended up being the best-tasting crab I've ever had in WA state; not fishy or tastes like ice. You cannot get this quality in the metropolitan area. No regrets. Will try the fish and chips next time. Breakwater seriously has some of the best seafood in the PNW!

View from our table. It was fun watching the boats.

Mediocre at best. Halibut fish and chips - both greasy, and halibut very slim pieces. The clam chowder was decent.

My son owns a beach house there, and our family often gathers to spend time together. Between my family, my son's family, and my daughter's family, we have purchased oysters here more than 40 times over the years. We usually buy oysters while we are staying in Ocean Shores and often pick up another order on our way home. Out of all those purchases, only one order was less than satisfactory. The oysters from that purchase were a little smelly and contained more sand than usual. During our most recent visit, I mentioned that experience to the staff. At the time, they were out of the larger oysters I normally buy. Instead of simply telling me they were unavailable, one of the staff members arranged for someone to harvest medium-sized oysters directly from the farm. The oysters were freshly harvested and packed right away. I was impressed by the extra effort they made to ensure we received a quality product. That experience showed me how much they value their customers and stand behind what they sell. Aside from that one disappointing purchase, the oysters have consistently been fresh, delicious, and high quality. Based on our family's experience over many years and more than 40 purchases, I would gladly recommend this business to anyone looking for fresh oysters and excellent customer service.

Both my wife and I noticed some of the clams were open. Here's where we made the mistake. After they were rung up and I touched a few and they did not close, I was going to ask them about it buy my wife beat me to it. The clerk said they were fine. They were just "stressed". Pour some water on them and they will be good. She just made some. I was in a hurry and somehow, someway, let this ridiculous explanation prevail. Upon getting them home, over half are open and will not close when touched in any way. In other words, all dead. Don't be me and buy clams from these people. Best in Grays Harbor? Bahahaha.

As a flight attendant and an unapologetic foodie, I've eaten my way through cities all over the world. You learn pretty quickly when a restaurant is simply serving food versus when it's serving something made with genuine care. This place falls firmly into the second category. The customer service? Just the sweet Rainier cherry on top of an already incredible experience (and yes... go look at their bakery case while you're there). Jocelyn was phenomenal. I asked how this little slice of heaven came to be, and she happily shared the story behind it. One owner spent years as an executive chef at a casino, while the other built a career as a professional baker in Aberdeen. Boy, does that expertise show. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. A little context: I mostly eat pescatarian these days, so when I do splurge on chicken, my expectations are sky high. I've built it up in my head as one of the foods I miss most (right alongside a good ribeye), and it's almost always disappointing. Not this time. This chicken is absolutely ridiculous. They debone a chicken thigh and fry it into the crispiest, juiciest piece of fried chicken I've had in a long time. It's made with a gluten-free batter, which means more people get to enjoy it. And before anyone assumes "gluten-free" means sacrificing flavor... think again. Plenty of great chefs will tell you the best fried coatings come from starches like potato or cornstarch anyway. What really made this meal special, though, was that my partner is vegan. If you've ever dined out with someone who's vegan while you aren't, you know how rare it is for both people to walk away feeling like they had an equally great meal. It almost never happens. Here, it did. She ordered the vegan Indian tacos with corn tortillas, and they looked incredible. She was excited to try the fry bread, and instead of simply serving it, the staff thoughtfully explained it wasn't vegan and helped her choose an alternative. That's the kind of attention to detail you don't forget. Our service was perfectly paced. If you're looking for food in five minutes, there are plenty of places where "cooking" means microwaving something that arrived frozen. This isn't one of those places. Everything tastes intentional, and that takes time. Our food still arrived in under 20 minutes, maybe even less. Slow down, talk to the people you're with, and enjoy the experience. Great food isn't supposed to feel rushed. We stumbled across this gem on our drive home from Ocean Shores, and I'm so glad we did. I only wish it were closer to home because we'd become regulars in a heartbeat. I can't recommend this place enough.
