Great place that offers fresh organic food from green juices to smoothies to soups and meals and such a warming staff!

Hands down this is the healthiest place to eat in town.. healthiest place to eat probably within a 10 mile radius.. The food it not only healthy it tastes great and they are always willing to give extras (bread, sauce, topping) for no extra cost. The ingredients are all fresh, but the taste can be hit or miss. The veggie burger is flavorful and hearty. The butternut squash soup is oddly and intensely spiced-too much so from my perspective. I really need to branch out and try more from their varied menu, but the slow nature of their service, and the often abrupt, unfriendly service makes me reluctant to go there or order from there more often. My beloved friend Jane turned me onto this gem. This is a cafe where everything is freshly made and delicious. This is not a place you come to if you are in a rush. I see people complaining about slow service. You have to leave a little time to experience the freshly made food. My advice is order a cup of their fabulous tea or a juice and sit and savor it for a while. Relax. My favorite is the Winter Salad but adore chickpea stew. read more

I wish I would be writing this review about Bee Organic, the warm, inviting, cozy little restaurant serving fresh, locally sourced and organic when possible delicious and creative healthy food. But that review would be for the restaurant that opened several years ago. Since then, the restaurant has steadily declined in atmosphere and quality, to the point where our last visit there was downright COLD. Literally. That was the first thing we noticed when we stepped in, and when we checked we found that the thermostat was stuck on 67 degrees. We were told that the system was broken, but apparently it had not been functioning well for some time. Nevertheless, we sat down. Then we noticed how the décor and atmosphere of the restaurant had changed, making the ambiance far less cozy than it had been; and then we couldn't help noticing that there was only one employee in the front to be host, server, cashier and doer of whatever else needed to be done. This employee was clearly doing his best to fulfill all his roles, and he did an excellent job, but it wasn't the same as being welcomed and attended to as we had been when the restaurant first opened. Then we were served our food. The portions were smaller; the food was warm, not hot; the stir-fried tempeh tasted burnt; the mushroom burger had a strange texture; and the sweet potato that we ordered turned out to be a few cold potato sticks, not the whole potato the restaurant used to serve. We sent the mushroom burger dish back to the kitchen to be reheated, and the kitchen reheated the sauce and the sprouts as well, which didn't do much for the dish. The real disappointment is that we were so supportive of the owners when they first opened - we appreciated their efforts to bring organic dining to the neighborhood - that we can't help but feel betrayed by the restaurant's current state. We still appreciate the fact that the food is healthy, but it does leave something to be desired. read more

Not recommended for anyone Gluten Free! Just ordered an egg white veggie omelet gluten and dairy free and was served regular bread. I almost ate it too since I thought it was GF. Then it took them over 20 minutes to remake me a runny omelet and did not take it off the bill. Definitely not worth it and not a SAFE gluten free environment! read more

I just returned from my first attempt to dine in at Bee Organic. I can say with complete certainty that it will be my last. I have gotten the occasional juice or muffin there to go over the years, and they have been fine (albeit overpriced, but it is Great Neck and Juice places I find tend to be overpriced generally). I happened to be meandering through town and because it's 1000 degrees today and I had not eaten, I thought I would stop in, order lunch and read my book. I walked in and was pretty much ignored (and it wasn't much cooler in there than outside). I walked over to the counter and asked if I should just sit anywhere for table service, and a young woman behind the counter told me to sit anywhere. I picked a table pretty much directly in front of the counter. I glanced at the menu for 2 minutes, made a selection, and waited patiently for someone to take my order. The place was not crowded (I think there was one other table of people eating). After about 20 minutes of waiting (I attempted to make eye contact with the 2 young women behind the counter, but they seemed far more interested in entertaining one another) I picked up my iPad and started scrolling through Yelp reviews of the place to see if my experience was a common one, and it seems to be. I've at this point been home for a half hour, but I'm sure if I were still there, I'd still be rotting away waiting for a waitress to illustrate any remote interest in taking my order. Based on my experience AND the reviews of this place, I can't fathom why anyone comes here more than once. I suppose some women (and men) are interested in dating people who ignore and/or unkind to them. The people who eat at Bee Organic must feel the same way about restaurants. read more

I was really glad to find this place when I used to work in Great Neck. The menu has lot of healthy eating options and they have some new entrees every day. They also have a juice/smoothie bar. One of favorite items from the menu would be the chickpea stew and quinoa bowl along with red beans chilli. The only problem with this place is, it's super crowded during afternoons and they claim to prepare every order from scratch taking minimum of 20 mins to serve you the food. I would order food over phone and then go and eat there to save time. The staff gets overwhelmed with the increasing demand from customers during peak rush hours. They should probably add more members to their staff to cope up with angry customers. Also the juice/smoothies are bit overpriced. Nonetheless, this place was a life saver and I highly recommend it if you're looking for healthy food. You will to be patient with the staff however and bear with the slow service. I've eaten here many times, and the food is very good. Today, we were lucky to get water. A member of our party asked if something is vegan. The server didn't know what vegan is. Really? Bee Organic has been participating at the Port Washington Farmer's Market at the town dock on Saturday mornings this season with a selection of their fresh and organic fare. We tried their homemade hummus this past Saturday and it was the best we have ever had. Fresh, flavorful, with a "just right" texture and mouth feel. It is in a whole different category than your traditional store bought. And the banana bread with significant chocolate chunks is a decadent yet wholesome treat. This place is the absolute worst. Waited 45+ mins after ordering food... Still didnt receive any food or any acknowledgement that it was coming... The owners are a hot mess. Theres no system for ordering. One of them did come by and ask us to sit with 2 other people at a table for 4 so that someone else could sit at our table... How rude. Food is good But it is probably one of the worst customer service I ever had in my life. Do these owners/staff members read the reviews? I think they should. Take a look.. From what it looks like though they could really care less what customers think. You go there and you are not even acknowledged. Step up your game. It's pretty sad because this place can be 1000 times more successful. I just do not understand how people like that run a restaurant. It is hard to even process it. It's like they don't understand the simplest rules about customer service, that even my 3 year old cousin would know. I wonder how they would feel if they walked into a place and got treated like that. PLUS an hour wait for food. I understand it's fresh and made from scratch but really ? It shouldn't take an hour for a sandwich. There's places just like that, organic/fresh/busy, who get food ready in 10 minutes. They shouldn't have any excuse for it. It's ridiculous. Came here on a Friday night and I was satisfied. This little cafe is situated right on Bond Street, easily accessible from the train station, lots of parking on the street or in a large parking plaza a block away. It is hard to miss this place, due to outdoor seating, vibrant colors, and usually quite a few people dining. I came here with a group of four and we were greeted nicely. The restaurant has lots of teas and drinks, some knick-knacks, and a specials menu on the side walls. The specials menu is really your best option for an interesting meal, since it changes based on the fresh ingredients. I can guarantee that (at least their bakery items) their food is fresh and organic. A woman was asking for "their amazing cookies" and Bee Organic said that they couldn't bake them any more since their supplier for the organic flour was having problems, so they couldn't bake them until November. Based on this explanation, I now know that the ingredients they use are organic. The menu consists of a wide variety of fresh juices, smoothies, lots of salads, open-faced sandwiches, hot entrees (mushroom, veggie, salmon burgers, quinoa, stews, and fish of the day), soups, small dishes, crepes, breakfast, desserts and yogurt, and a large tea selection. Take note of their specials, which consist of quesadillas, new burgers, soup of the day, and lots of other different selections. Prices aren't extremely high, but they aren't cheap. For all orders, they provide table-side service. Decor is fantastic, modern, vibrant, minimalistic, yet over-the-top at the same time. The service (which was one woman at the time), was pretty good, knowledgeable about the menu, etc. I would recommend going for lunch, since they close at 8:30 and they were out of a lot of soups and their black bean quesadilla. The kitchen is slow, which I don't really understand, since it was not crowded, but they were probably just waiting for all of the food to be ready before serving it. We tried their cream of zucchini soup and their corn chowder. The zucchini soup was a bit bland, but was the perfect texture. The corn chowder was great, a heavy soup, with lots of taste and an abundance of corn. I had the pasta primavera (a special), which was well-prepared. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the julienne vegetables were plenty and yummy, and the tomato sauce was not overpowering. Their crepes are delicious. I had high hopes for this place considering that I am very interested in nutrition and healthy food. The organic menu was very enticing however I was in for a big surprise. Upon arrival it looks like a nice little cozy spot however there was no one to greet you as you entered the restaurant. Aesthetically I found it strange that all the tables were different size and the chairs were not matching. As I sat down it took approximately 20 minutes for a waitress to come over and take my order. She asked what we would like to drink and we ordered a freshly made smoothie and a pot of tea, the reason as to why I ordered the tea is because it was 10 degrees outside and I wanted to warm up before having my meal. I came here on an empty stomach and shockingly still LEFT hungry. The concept is a brilliant idea organic food and cafes are in high demand. Yet the execution is very flawed the staff is either new or needs to be trained properly. Not once while I was there did the waitress come over and asked if anything was needed or how the food tasted, in fact after 45 minutes of eating my meal I had to flag down the waitress and request for my drinks to come which she just started making after I asked her about my tea. How hard is it to put a tea bag in some boiling water and bring it to the table? Another major disadvantage is that they lack of POS system, when the receipt was brought you don't know what each item was billed for all you see is numerical values and food. How am I supposed to know if I wasn't being overcharged ? Aside from the terrible service the food was incredibly bland and the potatoes were burned to a crisp. You're going to make me wait half an hour for my food at least get the order correct. The only thing that angered me most is that the waitress could not even deliver the drinks , she brought it after we finished our meal. What good is that? Just horrific needs to be shut down or under new management. Prices are sky high for no absolute reason. Waste of my time and money read more

Do NOT believe the reviews that you see with anything less than 4 stars. Plus many of the 1 star reviews are idiotic! I've eaten here about 10 times. Each time the food is very good. It's definitely not a place to take somebody on a date but for breakfast or lunch it's great and could easily be good for a casual dinner. This place isn't perfect as none are. Its small establishment and they're doing their best to bring high quality food to Great Neck and Long Island. You can go to many other restaurants and get factory farmed, crappy food pumped with antibiotics, hormones and cows fed manure. You can buy salmon at other restaurants that are high in PCB's and mercury or you can go here. This place only serves high quality, sustainable food. I had high hopes for this place. I've been there twice, and both times I ate their kale salad with carrot-ginger dressing, which was admittedly delicious. I also had a veggie burger during my first visit, and tried some of the chick pea curry (one of the daily specials) that my sister had ordered. Both were tasty. The problem, however, is with the service. The owner-- I'm pretty sure she is the owner, at least-- is unfriendly to the point of being flat-out rude. She never has a smile on her face, and she acts as if your order is an inconvenience for her. Great for business, right? The other waitress there was a space cadet and kept forgetting to bring us glasses of water. The food also takes an absurd amount of time to get to your table, even though both times I have visited, I was one of two sets of customers in the restaurant. I ordered a freaking kale salad. Tell me how that takes more than 5 minutes to throw together. I should also say that I never feel compelled to write reviews for restaurants, but the owner's sour-puss REALLY put me off. This place is literally the best. Don't listen to the negative reviews on here. Everything is delicious. It has the healthiest organic food to choose from. When you order you literally don't even have to think about what you're ordering because nothing on the menu is bad for you. And considering all the food is healthy and organic the price are pretty reasonable, also. It has literally the best veggie burger I ever had. I brought it home once and didn't tell my brother it was a veggie burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. The salmon is also amazing and they have tons of great soups, all of which are super healthy and organic. Also it takes a while to order, but that's expected of a family owned organic food place that makes everything from scratch. I always just call 15 minutes ahead and the food is usually ready by the time I get there. It's a great place for take out. I get it twice a week. Bee Organic is my favorite restaurant in Great Neck. The food is so wholesome and fresh plus the atmosphere is inviting and warm. My favorites are the quinoa burger,arugula salad, omelets, vegetarian chilli over a sweet potato and the butternut squash soup. Every time I have a fresh juice or smoothie there, I feel extremely fortified. The staff is welcoming and warm and always has great suggestions to satisfy your appetite. I always enjoy the thought of coming to Bee Organic. That being said, it usually disappoints. Yesterday, when I went for brunch with a friend and my brother, we had the worst trip yet. We were the only people sitting down in the restaurant, yet we spent nearly 45 minutes waiting for food. Each of us had an issue with our meal. I ordered an $8 smoothie before we had ordered food, and never got it. However, it was on the receipt that was handed to us, so the order was in. They simply never made it, and we were the only people sitting down. I ordered two eggs over easy and, while they were good, they were very small. I understand that it is difficult to control the size of the eggs, but they were so small that it was like I was eating a single $6.50 egg. Two eggs, however, are one of the few reasonably priced items. My friend ordered an omelet with cheese and vegetables; there was one small piece of cheese in the entire omelet, which itself was small. From what I remember, an omelet with (one small piece of) cheese and vegetables is about $12. My brother's salmon entree was the most disappointing of all. For $22.50, he got maybe four ounces of very undercooked salmon and half a cup of garlic potatoes. When he asked for the salmon to be cooked, it was returned, still undercooked in the middle. The way the inside looked half-convinced me that the piece of fish was tuna. As I have said before, Bee Organic is always a place of which I like the thought of coming. This was perhaps my fourth time, which each worse than the last. I love, or at least I love the thought of, having an organic, locally sourced restaurant near me; however, this past trip means we won't be returning. read more

My wife and I really enjoy eating here. It's a small restaurant with an outstanding selection of really healthy, delicious food. It's not recommended for those looking for a restaurant experience, but if you have a little time to wait for your order to be taken and for your selection to be prepared, the food is really worth it. I went to Bee Organic this past Sunday and I had an absolutely stellar time. Honestly, I didn't want to go to Bee Organic because I don't think of myself as a healthy eater and I wanted to go to iHop, but my friend was adamant that we go to this restaurant so we went. I was totally misled before; the food at Bee Organic isn't only for very health-minded people, it tastes fantastic and there's something on the menu for everyone. But i have to say, what really blew me away about my experience on Sunday moreso than the delicious nutella crepes was the service. I was waited on by a young blonde girl who was incredibly friendly and attentive and made my overall eating experience at Bee Organic not just pleasant but immensely enjoyable. I will definitely be dining at Bee Organic again in the near future thanks to the delicious food and the fantastic service! read more

TERRIBLE service. Waited 25 minutes for a cup of coffee. Granted the store was busy but when the crowd cleared out I asked for my check and they gave it to me. Then they waited another 15 minutes before coming to pick it up (and that's only because I waved at them finally). I do not live in Great Neck, but every time I come there for business I make sure to grab a bite to eat and a smothy at Bee Organic. It is not easy to find all organic food in restaurants even in Manhattan and when you do find it, very often it doesn't taste so good. This place manages to make it taste very good. The atmosphere is casual and cosy, and service is friendly. If you like to eat fresh organic food, give it a try.. you will not be disappointed. read more

I thought the veggie burger was very tasty and nicely presented, but that's about where the compliments end. While the hostess (owner?) was very social and friendly to customers that she already knew, we found her to be very inattentive to our table and requests. When we asked about the vegan options on one of the items, she wasn't very helpful. Which was weird because we picked this place because of some vegan options on the menu. The service was very slow and we had to try to flag down someone anytime we needed more water or a cup of tea.
