First I will say I've been going there for years, & never had a bad meal. But after the redo, we recently went there for dinner,& it was outright terrible.... Our chicken gyros were weak in the meat department & the pita was hard as a rock. One dish had more fries than the other and the worst part was the Greek salad which wasn't Greek! In our large Greek salad there was soft lettuce, about 6 olives, & a very small amount of feta. There was NO Peppers, red onion, grape vine leaves, no anchovies ,cucumbers, and instead of olive oil & red wine vinegar they gave me some creamy crap I didn't use. I mean where the hell was the oregano? The salad was terrible, & we only had about 5 chicken strips in the gyro. The service was average, & the place looked the same to me. I hope it gets better otherwise I'm going back to the Omega in New Hyde Park. They give you a ton of food. I left hungry & pissed. I'll go back one more time & I hope it gets better.. read more

What a fantastic diner! Huge parking lot is a big plus. The diner also has a nice bar and dessert set up. The diner exceeded my expectations in every way. We had a fried combo appetizer plate that was very good! It came with fries, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings and jalapeño cheese poppers. The soups were really good as well, as the Manhattan clam chowder was savory and delicious. I had the pastrami reuben sandwich which was not too fatty but a flavorful masterpiece, with tender, perfectly seasoned pastrami stacked high between slices of fresh rye bread and sauerkraut. The chicken parmesan was equally impressive, featuring a crispy, golden-brown coating and a savory tomato sauce that had just the right balance of herbs and spices. I am definitely a fan of this diner. We come here for our Kiwanis Dinner meetings and take advantage of their private room. It is a very easy in and out off of Glen Cove Rd. There is also a very large parking lot. This diner is big and bright and there always seems to be a lot of electricity in the air. We were a group of 25 and dined in their private room. The staff here is so attentive to the needs of the customers. As a group we had a pre-determined menu and staff took our order prior to starting our meeting. As the night progressed, they were bringing food and kept us moving along. Choices of Pork Chops, Salmon and chicken were served to everyone and were hot & Steamy. They sides were plentiful and ample. We started with a cold-crisp salad of course with a choice of about five different dressings. The food here is nothing short of terrific!!! The portions are HUGE and many people took home food. They even ended the evening with an assortment of desserts. Again, everything fresh, tasty and terrific. Stopped here with a large (25-30) group for a lunch in a Saturday afternoon. I was anticipating having enough room but the large dining area easily accommodate us even though the restaurant was still in a busy lunch mode. Additionally I had thought I might be stuck ordering a salad given my gluten allergy and plant-based preference. But there were plenty of choices among the dozens of offerings from breakfast through dinner. I chose the egg white omelette with veggies, which came with a side (I subbed mashed potatoes) for fries and was able to get GF toast. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge! The veggies were zucchini, onions, tomatoes and broccoli. The omelette was amazing and while I don't eat egg whites often it satisfied my appetite. Didn't have to ask for a lidded cup for my toddler they gave it automatically. They came around frequently for coffee refills (BIG PLUS). We walked into this diner around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It's a huge place and was of course empty as it's in between lunch and dinner. Maybe they were eight people there total. I ordered scrambled eggs and toast. Some food you can deal with cold but not eggs. And. When the food came out, the eggs were barely warm. If you look at some other reviews, you also see mention cold food so I'm not sure what's going on. I asked for them to please give me hot eggs and when the way to returned, the eggs we're still cold perhaps a drop warmer, but you could tell it was the same eggs which because they reheated them turned slightly brown. At that point I gave up. I asked the waiter if there's something wrong with your equipment that they can't get out a hot dish, especially when it's not even busy and the toast was cold. I came here with a group of friends for breakfast the day after a night of heavy drinking. The food was great and the service was fantastic. Be aware that they can't start selling alcohol until after 11 am on Sundays (lol). I got the chocolate chip pancakes, and they were typical diner pancakes. My wife and I went to Greenvale Townhouse Dinner. We have been going there for over 25 years. It was the worst experience ever. My wife ordered the Classical Gyro, she asked to have sweet potato fries, instead of regular French fried potato , the waiter got that incorrectly. He gave her regular French fried potato. When he returned the food was cold, he forgot bring the salad dressing for the Greek salad. He also forgot this Taziki sauce for the gyro, the owner had to go back and get both items. Although we've been going there for years, their service sincerely was awful. We will not be returning to that dinner soon. Also when a plate leaves the kitchen, it should no be returned. I ordered a Ruben and it came wormed not hot. The bad thing they were no that busy. Now they charge you for the coleslaw and the pickle, the coleslaw was terrible. read more

Ordered a Vanilla Coke to drink. Straight syrup and the waiter didn't even care to mix it. Didn't realize it came this way and my first sip was nothing but syrup how disgusting. After mixing it finished it quickly, and was never asked if I wanted a refill the rest of the time there. Ordered a side of cheese fries. Three slices of American cheese thrown under the broiler for a minute not even melted absolutely disgusting. Waiter never came back once to see if we need anything besides when he dropped the check. Yes they were busy but you can at least stop by once after taking our order. Had to track someone down to ask for a to go box. Horrible experience last time coming here it's just not worth it anymore. Barefoot Pedaler a couple stores over is a much better choice with some great food. read more

I want to thank the fine people here for giving us a great dinner after a long day. Our collective daughters were trying out a new gymnastics school close by and we decided on coming in for a bite. Seating on a Friday night was easier than I thought. After moving some furniture around they found room for a party of seven. Thank God that the waiter we had made sure that the children were taken care of first- ensuring a decent meal for the adults in the group. What we had: A Corn Beef Sandwich- delicious Souvlaki- Eaten until the point of explosion Mediterranean Salad- Very fresh and inviting Hot Pastrami Open Faced- Yummo! The kids were kept busy by their meals of grilled cheese, French toast, and pasta. Grab a wine, beer, or cocktail from the menu if that floats your boat- we did and it definitely helped to bring a tedious and arduous week to a close. We had made a reservation for 18 people to attend our dinner. The Greenvale staff were great. Our waiter, Billy, was attentive and got all our drink orders and appetizers correct. He served everything hot and it was delicious. We had baked calms, green salads, stuffed mushrooms , and shrimp. All were great. We chose our main entree from their menu. I had Norwegian salmon, my wife had steak and a baked potato. They gave me a large salmon and it was delicious. My wife's steak was medium and she was very pleased. We had a great selection of desserts. We ate cheese cake, chocolate pudding, different pores and pastries. When our group goes out, we always have one or two people complain about something. This time everyone was happy and kept saying this is great. We had a a big group and Billy told us they make reservations for even larger groups. We were seated in a large room, which we loved. If you are planning an event you should give Greenvale Townhouse Restaurant an opportunity. You will not be disappointed. My wife and have had Sunday breakfast and we both have enjoyed omelettes, bacon, pancakes and eggs. They have a variety of great food on their menu. Overall - very comfortably experience and very pleased with the food. Very lovely and clean diner. Bathrooms were very clean and sanitary. Not too noisy. Overall a very positive experience. Open until 2 a.m., this place was a godsend after a late flight put us home past closing time for many of the local eateries. The space is large, bright and decorated exactly like your typical LI diner.
