I went this morning for an acai bowl for breakfast, as Avocado Oh was closed for some reason. The place was empty and dark and I went to the counter and a lady seated behind it looked up and kept on doing what she was doing. I found a menu and she said "is someone helping you?" which was bizarre because clearly it was just me and her, and I had just walked in. I requested the bowl I wanted and she said "sold out." I wasn't sure I heard her, and asked her what she just said. Sold out. Ok, do you have any bowls available? No. Then she checks the refrigerator and says "oh we do, it will take 15 minutes" which I heard as more as threat than actual information. It was such a weird vibe I decided to leave because my expectations were at zero at that point. Not sure I would go back because I wasn't quite sure what was going on in there. read more

I was so excited to find an organic vegetarian cafe right by the station! It's not strictly vegetarian: they have lots of fish here. But there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices (as well as gluten free etc etc). I ordered the spinach mushroom quiche, which was oddly soggy and lukewarm, as if it had been reheated in a microwave. It still tasted great, but I think they could do better. Also, there was no spinach in the quiche. It did, however, come with a side salad. Maybe that's what they meant? The other reviews are accurate that service here is really slow, they seem to have one person out front and one in the back. Luckily there's free WiFi (just ask for the password). I've been to this restaurant a few times, but today was finally the time for my review. I always like the food and desserts. I especially like that it's healthy and organic. What I find extremely spotty is the service. There's never enough help, so it's slow and if you need water or anything extra, patience is the word. What irked me today is the fact that I wanted caffeine free tea and the young man working as a cashier , bus boy and a server gives me the tea box, but none were what I wanted. Some of my favorites are the white bean and kale soup, the veggie burger, and the ratatouille. I have been coming here on occasion for about 2 years now and LOVED it in the beginning... it was my new spot whenever I had enough $ to splurge on a green smoothie with their delicious cold oatmeal. loved it. WHAT HAPPENED?! the past 3 times I went I was unsatisfied by the customer service and the food. but I thought maybe it was an off day.. Still my favorite place to go with its beautiful décor... so I invited two close friends out to eat and the infamous bee organic I tell them about! They are both health nut vegetarians so I thought itd be a great match. The owner was very rude and unpleasant. I inquired what the specials of the day were, (as I have know them to have great specials) and the owner snatched the menu from me and as she walked away she told me that theyre all there (referring to a specials little chaukboard that i couldn't read due to its tiny size. REALLY?!??! I work with customers all day and I would never treat a customer like that... especially since I am generally very smiley and kind I don't understand how I could get such a rude response back. Sadly, i will not be returning due to the lack of respect the owner has for her customers. HOW is this place still open? I tried to pay for my smoothie with a $10 bill, in which I was met with the reply "we don't have change." I took that for not having exact change. No. They didn't have enough single dollar bills... which would be what? 4 of them? The woman at the counter then asked her teenage daughter if she had money, as her husband tried to teach her daughter how to steam milk. Great. To make matters worse, the green smoothie I ordered was crunchy with tons of pulp. My blender from the dollar store that I use to make my morning smoothies can do a better job. Not a business. After a 4 miles run in the neighborhood I desperately needed to refuel myself. Was craving for a good salad and came to this little cafe after a quick glance on yelp. It was around 7pm and was indeed very quiet on a Saturday night. Atmosphere was peaceful and it was charmingly cozy. I ordered an arugula and goat cheese salad and it was very refreshing and tasted really good. Goat cheese was very fresh and creamy it literally melts in your mouth. However, service was extremely slow considered I was the only customer. My waitress was lovely and polite though, unlike how some people experienced it according to other reviews. A bottle of water was brought to me after seated. So far food is good but service is slow. Would have been more successful if they improve their services. Price a bit high but I guess it's normal if you want organic food in Great Neck. read more

I'd give zero stars if i could. I experienced discrimination here and it was very awkward and uncomfortable and made me lose my appetite. First time i came here the person working there overcharged me and yelled at me for asking why i was complaining about how i was charged for multiple drinks when i only ordered one. Um, really? Some nerve. You aren't a charity. U just put on this healthy vibes atmosphere to justify ripping people off. I should be charged one drink and not multiple. I made the mistake of coming here again because i wanted a drink to order and thought maybe things would change. I was first in line and then they decided in the middle of my order to take someone else's order. That was beyond rude and weird. But I thought nothing of until the moment when i had to wait even longer. Then things got weird. Some random guy came in and handed the guy working there (maybe the boss or manager?) wads of cash like some weird drug or black market transaction and told the employee "he understands why I'm giving this to him. Hand it to him right now. I have no time. I'm waiting." All the while i am waiting there for my one drink order and completely ignored after they took my money for the order. I tell them that I've waited a really long time and the girl ignores me and looks angry and makes my drink and slams it on the table. It was rhe wrong drink. The guy with that odd amount of cash starts laughing at me and mimicking some foreign language and the two of them both laugh at me. I actually ironically had no idea what language they were speaking. But it was really disturbing. Id advise people not to support this business, or for this business to be reported because this kind of behavior is not appropriate and really makes certain groups of people feel unwelcome in the great neck small business community. Discrimination and any kind of ridiculous behavior towards customers or anyone should not be tolerated. What confuses me is how people think it's ok or business-smart to make your customers feel discriminated against and uncomfortable. I won't be back here. read more

This is probably the healthiest option in all of great neck. And I'm not talking about boring healthy - the food is definitely delicious, although I've only tried soups and a veggie burgers. They seem to use quality ingredients and spices. I'd call ahead for a takeout order. read more

Bee Organic is small, with only 3-4 tables, but is super cozy, contains tons of really interesting organic gifts (jewelry, pottery, homemade jams and jellies, etc.) and just reading the vegetarian menu (which is spot on for brunch/lunch) can seriously make your mouth water. My friend and I had decided to stop by for a quick smoothie break in between studying for exams and ordered two "create your own" smoothies which were absolutely YUM, but pretty overpriced. (12 oz for $5.00 - ughh) But if you're willing to put up the bucks then I highly recommend the mango, strawberry, raspberry! It was really really good! There were a bunch of awesome tropical smoothies to choose from so if that isn't really your type, I'm positive theres something there for everyone. Further examination of the menu showed numerous salads, sandwiches, and brunch options and although I didn't get the chance to try any of them, (due to the limited amount of time we had allotted to our study break) if I was to summarize the menu, I would say it is a traditional brunch menu... with a kick (and without the meat). For example, the veggie burger was just what you'd imagine but with hummas and chipotle dressing included. Based on the interesting options provided, (I'm a vegetarian so i had NO problem with this) my friend, who is a die hard carnivore admitted that she definitely did not think she would miss meat what so ever! My only cons about this place in the few minutes that i was there include: a) A few minutes after entering the cafe, I was alarmed to hear a family (the only family that was there) complain about how they'd been waiting for a whole 45 minutes for a few omelettes and salads. (uh oh. bad sign) and the waitress (the staff seemed extremely limited) was overwhelmed. If she was overwhelmed with one family, how was she going to handle all four tables full of people? b) The menu is definitely overpriced for the sizes and ingredients in their dishes. - 10.50 for a veggie burger seems like its a bit much.. c) The place is extremely small so be prepared for a wait when it's busy On a lazy afternoon when I have plenty of time to kill, I would definitely like to come back to Bee Organic to try some of their interesting meals.. I work in the area and always pass this place by.. it wasn't until my coworkers brought it my attention that I realized how cute this spot is! It's a quaint intimate restaurant where you can take food to go or sit down to enjoy your meal. The waiters are sweet, could use a little training and a more unified look as far as uniforms would help them look a little more professional. Food is great, my favorites are the Mahi tacos and White bean soup.. their tea is pretty delicious also, many different flavors available. Everything is organic and freshly made! So it takes a lot for me to write a bad review , but iv had one too many bad encounters at Bee Organic. Truly hate that this is one of the only decent options in great neck. The only reason I give two stars is because the food has always been good until my most recent encounter with a rotten blueberry muffin ! The service is consistently very slow , there have been times where I called in my order 30 min prior just to get there and have them say nobody put the order in seriously. When I asked about the muffins the girl behind the counter said they were out for only 4 days , but it was definitely moldy on the inside . In addition the same muffins had flies in the container and when I pointed out she removed them , but never even offered me my money back for the moldy muffin .like why would somebody want to come here unless they were desperate, or had no other option . read more

The Yelpers have it right with this place. I've eaten here about 20 times over the past year so I have a large sample set from which to base my review. The complete truth is as follows: the food is pretty good, certainly healthy options abound, and everything is organic. They also have an extensive selection of fruit/veggie juices and smoothies. The one downside with the food (particularly the soups) is that some dishes are over salted, giving otherwise bland foods some extra taste. The overwhelming downside to Bee-Organic is the horrid customer service. The family that owns this place has a great concept but has a very, very difficult time running a business. It's very perplexing b/c we see people come in and walk out ALL the time b/c nobody is there or they are being ignored. Frankly, I don't think the owners care-- I've seen it too many times for it to be a coincidence. Even the non-family staff who work here are shocked by the service. So, if you're coming in, don't be in a rush, don't expect someone to rush over with water and a menu, and you'll probably be happily surprised. I feel like I need to give this place a little bump up. First off, the idea that there is good, healthy food in Great Neck (I grew up there) is a great plus, for me. I was in town visiting family, and getting healthy, organic food is sometimes a challenge, so it is nice to know this is there. I ordered the Sweet Potato Stew, which was very nice. Nicely flavored, full of good stuff. My dining partner had a stir fry, which she raved about. The service is a little slow, but it was quite friendly. If you're in a hurry, it's probably not the best place to go. But the woman was sweet, and helpful. The atmosphere is nice. Had a wonderful late lunch at this little spot on Bond Street, Great Neck. Nice atmosphere and very relaxed but expect to wait a bit to get served. Great place for organic and natural foods. We ordered the fish taco (made of mahi mahi) and the wild salmon burger. Both were delicious and tasty. Unfortunately by the time we got home we both had really bad diarrhea. Called the manager the next day to complaint about the bad fish and he made an excuse that it couldn't be a problem with the fish not being fresh. He said it might be the spices and that is usual. I said I wouldn't eat here if it is usual to get diarrhea eating their spices. He left it at that. I guess no responsibility for the good they serve. Best to eat elsewhere if that's the case. Also to note, the wild salmon burger is a ground salmon mixed with some sauce and not an entire piece of fish. It might have been the cause of the diarrhea. read more

Bee Organic is an unusual find, since it's entirely organic, vegetarian, and vegan. The food is very tasty and most of it is very good for you, they do sell sweets ;) which are free of gluten and refined sugars. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, the decor is simple, modern, yet homey, and they offer many unusual gifts, lotions, teas, artifacts for purchase. We have bought several things as gifts for friends and family. They are passionate about the food and drink they serve, so it does take a little longer than you would ideally like to receive your order. I feel it's worth the wait, but if you're in a rush then I would not recommend going there expecting to be in and out within 5 minutes, maybe 10 minutes. They seem to be a small operation and mostly employed by the owners and children of the owners, so it may be difficult at times for them to manage high volume. I don't think they worked in restaurants before opening this place, which probably would have helped them quite a bit with that part of the business. My advice is be patient and give them a break since they are bringing some tasty healthy food alternatives in a sea of conventional unhealthy ones. read more

The issue with this place is the same as most other reviews, the service. It is RIDICULOUSLY slow. And accept for the owner, most of the servers seem extremely uninterested. The food comes to the table haphazardly. Its odd, considering the prices that they can't get the service situation right. Especially after the negative reviews from the customers. The other complaint I had, is that they would not commit to something being nut free. I was there with a friend who has a SEVERE nut allergy. I came with a friend to get acai bowls in the morning, and while they were delicious, they were overpriced and took a while to make. This was our first time here and we were eager to try their bowls after seeing the great reviews of how delicious they are. I ordered an acai bowl with almond butter, which was $2.00 for a small dollop of it. The total for the bowl with almond butter was $14.00 which is steep considering how small the bowl is and how little of the acai I was given. My friend ordered the dragon fruit bowl and she received much more than I did. She said it's delicious, but the customer service was rude. The man who took her order was fine in the beginning, but then my friend asked about her almond butter as he didn't put it on in the regular order so my friend was just asking and not trying to rush anyone. But the young man putting her order together said I wasn't done yet and asked in a snarky tone if she wanted blueberries too. Additionally, there was no one in the cafe except for us. Overall, the bowl is very tasty, but prices should be reconsidered and customer service should be improved. read more

I ordered pick up and was told it would be 15-20 minutes, I arrived 30 minutes after that. There were 3 people ahead of me (this took another ~20 minutes). By the time I got my avocado toast it was soggy and inedible. I politely asked the cashier if it would be possible to re-make my toast and she told me that "usually when you call in a pick up you need to get there on time" and also that "it has been sitting for a while that's why it's like that." $35 dollars later (2 avocado toasts) + an hour of my life and I can honestly say with conviction that I will never be coming back to this food establishment again. I had a large organic salad with awesome carrot ginger dressing. I also tried the tahini cream dressing and had a hard time deciding between the two.
