Big beef sandwich with a bite so good
    Matt M.

I got a late lunch to go on a Friday. The restaurant wasn't too busy. The beef a roo is famous in the Rockford area. I ordered a big beef sandwich, roast beef and cheese (cheddar), a small fry, and medium chocolate shake! I spent a little over 20 bucks for everything. The roast beef is so good! Beef is moist and flavorful! The beef comes on a quality sesame bun. It is similar but better than arbys. My wife loved the beef and cheddar. The shake was good and chocolatey. The downfall of my order was the fries! Frozen and slender fries that lacked flavor! They are similar in size to mcds but they are just not good. I would come back to try other items and the roast beef again! The shakes are good too!

Grill cheese- no, not off the kids menu!! Grilled Cheese Sandwich

THIS WAS NOT OFF THE KIDS MENU!! These Beef-A-Roos are all over Rockford. For the life of me I cant imagine why? Desperate to eat something before I went grocery shopping, I ordered a grill cheese with bacon and tomato. This is literally what I got- a HALF sandwich. Add to that the grease just dripped off it. Take a hard pass..

I recently tried the other beef-a-roo on alpine and I would say this location has better fries. Theirs has the right amount of seasoned salt and the fries have some definition to them. Almost like the outer edges (not tips) are hard and the inner is soft. It's almost as if they use different cooking oil! Alpine's beef-a-roo may have better decor, but their fries taste soft, soggy and no where near the same amount of seasoned salt. I would definitely recommend this location over Alpine.

This is the "Train Depot" location. While I like their others a little bit better, this place is still top notch. Fine fast food.

Came to this pub in Roscoe and had a pretty uneven experience. It looks pretty cool inside, with a…read moreton of TVs, and it's got plenty of room. Louie's Tap House is one of the few good hangouts in town. Has tons of local beers. The food menu has burgers and stuff at pretty good prices. A lot of people really come here just to get drunk. It's no wonder because there's a massive beer list. This is shown on a TV and goes through a few screens. A lot of local beers. It's about $8 for some of these. Among these is the Generations Pretzel City. There's tons of food though. It's $12 for the Louie Burger. Make it with a Beyond Burger patty for a couple bucks more. The food isn't really as bad as some people say. One thing sucks to be honest. The service. It was slow getting a small order of a Beyond Burger. This isn't even like it's a real one that gets cooked much. After that it was slow to get the check. The waiting was too long so we left money, though we didn't have enough for a tip. Good food, but it can take a long time, so keep it basic. It has tons of beers, which go great with burgers, or something. There's even burger options for vegans and vegetarians.

It's a shame the service is so poor at Loui's because the food is actually pretty good, but because…read morethey don't have enough staff or because there is poor communication the experience at Louie's is not good. We called ahead to let them know that 5 adults and two children were coming in for a birthday. We asked to be placed in the back room. They said they didn't take reservations, but the bar tender would be told we were coming and they could accommodate us. We arrived at 11:30 and were told we could seat ourselves in the back room and from that point on we were basically on our own. The bar tender appeared to be the only wait staff. So we went to the bar to order our drinks and then we went back to the bar with our food order. I am in no way blaming the bartender. She was on her own. There were people at the bar that she needed to take care of. However, we ended up getting our own silverware, straws...etc. once the food showed up. But a short time later people started coming into the back room and setting up for a party. And shortly after that we were asked to leave the back area. Our 8 year old birthday boy had not opened his gifts so we hauled the gifts to the bar area where he opened them. This "event" which we'd hoped to make special, was a bit of a disaster. Had I been the person writing our bill I would have deducted 25% and apologized. That did not occur. Full bill. No apology. We won't be returning.

I had all the options! We ordered the Death Grip IPA and Briéekraut Oktoberfest, which we both loved. We started our meal with an order of nachos to start, and they were covered in a delicious nacho "cheese" and a a chili. My meal was the loaded Mac n Cheezy Bowl - which was so incredible (especially when you don't need to worry about the amount of dairy in it!!). My husband got the Grilled Cheeze Steak Tacos and really enjoyed them! The taco is made with a mini quesadilla as the shell with a delicious filling. Our server was extremely friendly, welcoming, and ensured a great experience. The restaurant definitely feels like a classic brewery with fun decorations and exposed brewing equipment, which is always awesome to see. Added plus is they have free Tesla charging for customers! (Possibly other electric car charging, but I didn't check) We will definitely be back!
