i have stopped by here several times. always had a great roast beef sandwich or french dip! very good wait staff that works together and are quick with your order. sandwich portions are huge and very tasty! now the bad part! beer prices are a bit on the high side. i had a 16 oz. sam's seasonal and it was 9 dollars. i suggest if you want a drink that is fine! ask for the cost of the drink first! otherwise, i would still stongly recommend this little cosy place for lunch or dinner! read more

Driving through NH on our way to Portland, Maine, I saw this spot on Yelp with high ratings. I ordered the Black Russian sandwich which is a turkey and beef sandwich with Swiss and thousand island dressing on pumpernickel bread. The portions here are generous. My sandwich was really good. The bread was grilled just right. I will have to say that the flavor came more from the turkey, bread and dressing than the roast beef. I tried that separately and it was kind of bland. My husband got the French dip and he said that his meat was kinda bland too but with some salt and pepper and dipped in the au jus sauce he said it was good. The service is quick and friendly. Visited for dinner on 7/22/22. While searching for a quick bite on Yelp, I stumbled upon this place......and I sure am glad I did. Great roast beef sandwiches, wings and salads. We tried the "White Russian" which had sliced turkey and roast beef with cole slaw on pumpernickel bread. It was awesome! Also tried a lobster roll and seafood clam chowder which were both very good. Got an order of chicken wings for the table (plain with teriyaki sauce on the side)......which were meaty, juicy and cooked perfectly. If anyone has visited the N.Y. area (specifically Brooklyn), there are 2 very popular roast beef spots...... Brennan & Carr and Roll N' Roaster. This place has a vibe of both of them combined. This was a great find! Just driving around to cool off from the hot summer heat and decided to get something to eat. I have a large family and there is barely ever a time where everyone loves their order. This was not one of those times! Every single person LOVED what they got. Ordered a Prime Rib sandwich which came with fried potato slices and a cup of au jus. Also got some onion rings and fried mushrooms. Everything was just OK with the exception of the sandwich. Did the take out thing tonight. Son has the BBQ beef dinner. Right off the bat he was pulling fat chunks out of his mouth. Then another. Then another. Nite after bite. He finally put the fork down and went through the beef by hand and pulled out an amount of too fatty to eat meat, amounted to a very small sandwich, which I feel to too much to begin with. This was his second time trying this dish in hopes it would be better. It was not. He said the beef itself was not tender like it should be. Perhaps it was rushed. Not sure. But that did it for him. This place was recommended by some co-workers since I was in town for work. I called in a to-go order, the place was easy to find and had a good amount of parking. Each item was bagged individually so it was easy to account for the order. I wanted to try it all and really could only eat half of what I ordered but it was worth every bite! Faintail shrimp basket - shrimp were HUGE and cooked to perfection. The fries were soggy by the time I got to eat it (8 minute drive to hotel) .. lose the foil to prevent steam, use only the brown bag. Lobster Bisque - HUGE pieces of lobster, entire claw! The bisque was a little sweet for me but I ate the large pieces of lobster. Fried Mushrooms - the small order was more than enough for one. Was sliced really thin which I love, and there was a lot of it. Au jus was a little watery and not very flavorful, but sandwich was great without it so not a big deal. Also got the lobster roll which was good. Nothing to complain about but nothing standout. Same for the fries. Did have a very generous amount of lobster. The onion rings were really great. Again, generous portion (seems to be a theme here!) and really loved that they were sliced much thinner than most onion rings at restaurants which made them easier to eat and the onions didn't come out of the fried batter. First off, get the giant; the medium just doesn't pass muster. Sandwich tastes the same as a decade ago so I only have my faulty memory to blame re: downsizing. In my defense, i was trying to eat light - got the diet coke, and even eschewed fries (would have been a lot, considering the croissant and a half i'd scarfed down seconds pre-arrival). But forgoing the amplest serving of beefsides roast beef, renowned forestwide as the pride & joy of the lower Merrimack, was a step too far. Each mouthful was missing meat; mea(t) culpa for sure. This is another one of those charming local haunts that I would never have found if it wasn't for yelp. Nothing pretentious, nothing fancy, just good cooking. The roast beef was lean and sliced thin. The seafood chowder had more seafood than chowder, and was complemented by oyster crackers. We had a medium onion rings for 3 of us to share, and it was huge. We went to Beefside as we passed through Concord. We had read reviews on Yelp of their Roast Beef sandwiches so wanted to try them out. The restaurant was VERY COZY, and it seemed like everyone knew each other. Unfortunately, since we were visiting from Alaska no one knew us, and while the service wasn't terrible, we just felt like the locals got preferential service. It took a while for us to get our order in and the food to arrive. We started with a small order of the onion rings and fried mushrooms, which were both delicious. The onion rings were nice and thin, and the batter was crispy and flaky. The roast beef sandwiches come in a few different sizes, and we got the Giant size. There was also the option to "super it," which included a few extra toppings/condiments, which we both did. We thought the sandwiches were delicious, but the beef was a little plain; wish it had a bit more seasoning. They are called Beefside but have dog memorabilia everywhere. States that roast beef is their top menu item, but when you enters it's all dogs everywhere. But anyway. On to the food. My co-workers ordered chicken tenders, the teriyaki chicken sandwich and I ordered the Giant Roast Beef sandwich; SUPER IT-cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo. I also got the strawberry shortcake for treat. We ordered our meals to go, which came in paper bags, wrapped in aluminum foil and on paper plates. I loved the concept of low key to go containers. My coworker who got the chicken tenders says "some of the best tenders I've ever had." My other coworkers who got the chicken teriyaki sandwich says "it was fine. It was a bit dry." In the sandwich defense. She didn't get mayo on her sandwich. My roast beef sandwich was delicious They can wave their Roast beef flag, because it was a great sandwich. Driving through the area on our way to a ski resort we were looking for a place to eat. This popped up and sounded wonderful. We saw the sign easily from the road and ample parking. It was a super busy time of day so the lobby was packed when we arrived and as we exited later. They jotted down our name and after a short wait we were led to a table in the back corner. It was a tad awkward because it was under a TV so everyone looking at the TV seemed to be looking at us. The whole place is a bit overwhelming and almost clasuterphonic. It feels like your grandparents farmhouse - complete with huge fireplace and knick knacks and photos and signs and everything else you imagine in your grandparents farmhouse. The menu had a lot of hometown diner type items but the brisket is always my first choice anywhere. The wife always chooses pulled pork but was tempted by the ribs. She opted for the rib / pulled pork combo platter with French fries, coleslaw and cornbread. I went for all brisket, French fries, coleslaw and cornbread. The waitress was extremely friendly and had a great personality. She seemed to know everyone in the place (as I expected at a smaller town restaurant) but those she didn't know seemed to be treated to the same friends, good natured service. Our meals came out a short time later and the portion size was HUGE for the price. I dug into the fries - cooked perfectly. I dug into the coleslaw - pretty good but not the best i've ever had. Then the brisket... which was a let down. It was far thinner slices than I had pictured in my mind. I immediately felt they would have been better suited for a brisket sandwich. That may have been a better idea like French dip style to add some au jus. It needed a bit more to it. I wouldn't say it was exceptionally dry, but it needed the BBQ sauce that was provided. I also would prefer the slices to be thicker - more like chunks than slices. As I saw sandwiches come out to other tables I immediately knew that would have been a better idea. The one thing you don't get with those orders however - THE BEST CORNBREAD!! Oh. My. God. I should have ordered a plate of cornbread. I like cornbread with butter but not when it needs to butter because it is dry. This was the right amount of sweet and cooked to perfection so it wasn't dried out. You could tell this had the feeling and taste of an old family recipe. Now if they could channel the love that the cornbread gets into a dry rub or something on the brisket this place would be unstoppable. read more

WOW!!! Talk about a great restaurant!!! From the outside you might question the quality of the food, but you will be SO mistaken!! First, the staff is about the friendlies staff I have ever met. Heather made us feel right at home and you can tell she is VERY passionate about her job and the quality of the food that this establishment produces. I had the Fish & Chips and a cup of Lobster bisque. i didn't want anything heavy. They had two different styles and i chose the one with the light batter. WOW.. the haddock was nice and flakey, full of flavor for which the batter didn't overwhelm... and you have GOT to try their sauce, for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. The lobster bisque was spot on and full of chunks of lobster!!! I watched my co-workers devour what they could of their meals. Both of which had nothing but great comments.
