A lovely cortado at the new Beehive Espresso Bar
    Greg F.

Huntington has needed a bigger array of coffee spots for a long time, so I am glad that this place opened recently. On a cold rainy day, I ventured in to the warmly decorated, clean, spacious Beehive and was served a lovely cortado. This spot is particularly good if you want to work on a laptop or read a book, as it's not small and crowded as the others in town.

I have been waiting for this spot to open since I saw the sign and found out we would have a new coffee place in town. The space is absolutely beautiful and has a lot of room for people to gather with friends/family. We ordered a mocha and cortado. I am a huge espresso fan and I have to say this is some of the best espresso I have had in a while. The mocha has a great espresso flavor with the chocolate blending in nicely. It isn't too sweet and is the perfect balance. The cortado is equally as balanced. It can be hard to find espresso drinks that don't have too much milk to espresso ratio and this one certainly did not disappoint. It didn't take long to get our drinks and on top of that they didn't burn our mouths like other places have. They were ready to be enjoyed, no need to sit back and wait for it to cool. I will absolutely be coming back to try their other espresso drinks. They also have a gelato bar, so i'll have to come back for that as well. It appears they will have some sort of marketplace in the back, so I am excited to see what that brings in.

    Dessert

I went in for the first time this morning. The dirty maple chai latte is amazing as are the desserts. The owner and barista were so friendly. I will definitely be back.

    Vanilla latte!

Pricing is reasonable, shop has an upstate or even Vermont feeling. Staff is kind and patient. Polite. Lemme talk about the food for a second. Got the Feeling Tot burrito. Subbed cheddar for smoke Gouda and added bacon. HOLY HELL. This burrito brought up emotions I haven't felt for a breakfast in centuries. Warm and melty, it wasn't like any of these greasy, wet, fat covered offerings from other delis or breakfast shops around the island. Or that I've had in NY in general. They chopped the bacon, which let's be serious here, is the only way to do it. Eggs were fluffy, light. Cheese was nothing short of smoked magnificence. But the pièce de résistance, the glue that brings your taste buds to their knees, the tots. If you don't like tots, you're wrong. And these tots were somehow crispy and soft. No oil, no sog. The chipotle sauce brings it all home and then they grill the whole damn thing and serve it to you on a platter of gold and diamonds. At least that's how it felt. Do I recommend this? Uh duhhhhhh. 5 stars. All day.

This is definitely not the case at the Main Street Board Game Cafe! The $15 entrance fee makes perfect sense to me... as they have a great variety of games in surprisingly immaculate condition, and very knowledgeable staff that are happy to explain how all of the games are played. The staff are really what set this cafe apart from others like it. Learning the rules from an expert is what makes complicated strategy based games less scary and more fun!! Everything is also very clean and well maintained, and the food is tasty. Definitely not the fanciest or most complex stuff on the menu, but who's coming here for the food anyway? They make a yummy grilled cheese, and some really good strong espresso based drinks. They have a great selection of teas from the clipper ship tea company as well.

Italian cheesecake for my birthday yesterday! OMG- incredible!!!…read moreI see now that my mom bought a cake here in the past- makes sense- repeat customer because delicious!

As an avid baker, and sweets connoisseur, I'm always looking to find new bakeries or home bakers…read morethat elevate what I can do myself **I'm looking at you The Egg Suite, The Crumb Picker, and Elisa's Niece's Cafe**and I was really looking forward to trying this bakery. Well let me just say that this was an atrocious experience from start to finish. I will NEVER return to this bakery. The girl helping me didn't know if the tiramisu was made with mascarpone or whipped cream or if the Napoleon had pastry cream, custard, or whipped cream. Usually you can tell by looking and that should've been my first sign that something was off. I just assumed that she was new and she was super sweet and apologetic so I forged on. I ordered an Italian cheesecake, cannoli, a single serve tiramisu, and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was soft and a little chewy and the quality of the chocolate was on point. When I opened the box that the cheesecake was in, it was filled with a viscous brown fluid that in my 5 minute drive home had actually accumulated enough to soak through the cardboard bakery box. I immediately knew that either there was too much butter in the crust, there was a water bath issue, meaning the crust was not properly sealed against the water bath or the water level was too high, OR, the cake was old and prolonged refrigeration was the culprit. I brought the cake right back and quietly showed the counter employee the issue...there were customers in the store and I was not looking to draw attention to this issue. The worker was appropriately apologetic and brought it to the back...and that's where everything quickly deteriorated. The owner came out accusing me of dropping the cake, which didn't happen and also had nothing to do with all the oozing brown goo, and then proceeded to insult and demean me in front of the other customers. He said I "obviously wasn't Italian" and therefore "didn't know anything about Italian cheesecakes." When I shared that I was actually born in Italy he quickly shifted to degrading the region my family and I are from. He then said "oh do you make cheesecake every day like we do because if you don't, you don't get to have an opinion." He went on and on while I just continued to request a refund for the defective item. To be fair and transparent, I would've probably overlooked the dripping crust if the cheesecake tasted amazing but it tasted like it had spent a few days too long in the fridge. These days spending close to $40 for a small cake is somewhat of a luxury. I appreciate all of the bakeries and home bakers who are persevering in this difficult economy and continuing to produce quality products. I absolutely understand that nothing is perfect and mistakes happen and when I'm at fault, I take responsibly and hold myself accountable. I do not yell, demean, and insult customers like this owner did. There are too many wonderful bakeries and home bakers that stand behind their goods and deserve your patronage and hard earned money. This establishment is NOT one of the them. As multiple other reviews have stated, it seems that when things are good they're good but when they are bad, this owner is rude and takes no accountability. I do wonder if he would've spoken to my husband in the same manner that he spoke to me but we'll never know because no one I know will ever step foot in this establishment again. Also, the cannoli shells were totally soggy on the bottom. A true Italian bakery would fill individually per order.
