I really really wanted this place to be good, however I have tried it twice and will not be back. Both times have been during the week when only a few people are there. Service is slow and poor. First, I have sat for a long time (outside) before someone came to get my drink order. Menus had to be asked for. Napkins and silverware had to be asked for. No one came to refill our drinks. We gave up and went inside to the bar to ask for refills. Second, my husband and brother both ordered the same kind of beer. When it came, the two beers were different colors. Immediately my brother noticed they were not the correct order. The waitress said she watched it being poured and was sure they both were the same. I told her to take it back and bring the correct beer as it was obvious they were not right (one was orange and one was brown and flat!). She said "ok but it will just be the same thing..." why argue about this?! She came back later with the correct beer and did not say anything... Third, the waiter could not answer simple questions about the menu. What do the nachos have on them? Nor did she indicate she would find out and come back. She just stood there. Now the food...my family loves brats. We each ordered a different kind - beer, polish, Italian, habanero, etc. the food came pretty quickly. However, the brats were a bit tough and chewy - cooked too long perhaps? I gave it 1 star because the French fries were good. I don't recommend this place. I won't be going back. read more

Ordered a Hawaiian Brat, was given a plain one (noticed after taking a bite). When I notified the waitress she offered to bring me the correct one. She then returned saying the kitchen was too backed up to give me what I ordered. I ate the rest of my fries disappointed but then became really annoyed when she tried to charge us for the brat that was never brought out. Uber ride to the place was easy, but even 20 year local uber driver didn't know about this place. It is in the middle of no where which became even more evident when we had zero cell service and weren't able to get uber ride back. LOL #almostdiedinmidland On a wednesday night the place was totally dead but luckily we got there 20mins before kitchen closed. We were able to order a few brats and some fries. The brats were really good flavor but kind of dried out. It was end of day so they were probably precooked earlier? Decent beer selection. The bartender was cool to chat with and said thursdays they have a DJ so probably a better day to go. There was a couple at the end of the bar that was also super friendly, offering to even give us a ride back to hotel after hearing us struggle to get uber. Not sure about all the good reviews as our experience was terrible. We are relatively new to the area so we were eager to find some decent local places to eat out. Each in our party of three ordered a different brat. They mixed up the brats between all three of us - we didn't know until we each took a bite. We informed the server and her only response was "sorry" - no offer to replace them. We were them left to swap the partially eaten brats amongst ourselves. The brats were either such bad quality, overcooked, or most likely both because they were dry as a bone. With a name like Beer & Brats, I was expecting something much better quality. They were also served on dollar store hot dog buns. I would have preferred a Ball Park over the awful brats we were served. The side of baked beans included were refrigerator cold. Seriously?! Who expects cold baked beans? Two of us also ordered a draft Bell's Two Hearted Ale. It definitely was not a Two Hearted Ale. It tasted closer to a 50/50 mix of Two Hearted and a PBR. We wanted something different after the beach...found this hidden gem. Friendly staff, we were greeted a few times when we walked in. They had wings for .50. You had to order at least 8. Staying in downtown Midland for work and was recommended this place by another guest at the hotel. All of the 16 brat choices are homemade. I had the habanero & pepper jack brat and it had a perfect spice level and was delicious. They have a toppings bar to put your "fixins" on your brats and burgers too. Some of these one and two-star reviews on here are pretty lame. Beer & Brats is north Midland and almost in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. Are people expecting the best food ever? This is a chill place that you need to hear about to know about. It's fairly busy at all times on the weekends and probably busier in the warmer months when their patio is open with games. The best thing they have is the Smoked Bone-In Wings. If you come here, I'd definitely throw them in for any order. The rest of the food is fine. Brats taste like brats. Burgers like burgers. I'm not high on their pulled pork options, but that's just me. They have a condiment section, which some people have complained about on here and that's ridiculous. Finally something different in Midland. For some reason Midland has been stuck on a trend of getting only chain restaurants, but hopefully Beer and Brats will start a new trend here. We have eaten here twice and both times the service has been great. The food is some of the best I've had. The pork sandwich is to die for. The smoked wings are so good that, you don't want them dipped. All the brats I've tried are amazing. The Rays special is the the best IMO. The baked beans and coleslaw are fresh and at just enough to the main dishes. Love the Michigan sourced products. The owners were out walking around and talking to the guest and seem to be truly excited about how you feel about your meal. The only suggestion I would have is for them to have a appetizer sampler of their brats. That way you could try them all and find which one you like the best. Our takeout sat on the table for 15 minutes getting cold while I was ignored at the bar. Ordered a kids chicken tenders and ended up with 4 tiny chicken nuggets. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and ended up with a burger with only bacon. Decided to try Beer and Brats for dinner on a whim since it's a new place. It's a bit divey, but that was expected. Service was good-our waitress was prompt and knowledgable about the menu. I had the pulled pork sandwich-it was huge! The meat was tender and sauce was good. My dad tried the Italian brat which he said was not as juicy as he expected-almost a salami texture. My mom had a burger-nothing good or bad to say about it. We didn't like how you had to get up to get your own toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc). The baked beans that come with the meal would have been exponentially better had they been served warm. All in all, I would try again just to see if it was an off night. This is not your average everyday burger, brats and sandwich joint. If the menu isn't enough to keep you coming back, then the specials will. With a great selection of beer on tap, full liquor and a booming kitchen, this is a gem in Northern Midland County. They have done a lot to make this an establishment the whole family can enjoy. The Mills Mountain burger gets the praises of the locals -at least everyone at the table next to mine. Or try the Backyard burger for something a little different. The service was so incredibly horrible that my party ended up walking out before our meal was served an hour after we ordered. Drinks came in shifts - one beer at a time. Distinct flavor and texture profiles to all the brats. Had several different beers each with its own individual notes. Speciality drinks are unique and flavorful as well. Had the worst service and experience of my life. Owners daughter felt entitled that she could treat her customers like crap. First time going we brought 16 new customers, she seemed unhappy we brought too many people and told us many times we needed reservations, and that is why we had bad service. READ THIS REVIEW Every Friday night my boyfriend and I meet my parents for dinner and drinks. Normally we have a routine location but some of our other family members wanted us to try something different. We were late to the party, but after a long work week anxious for dinner and drinks Friday night celebration with our family and best friends. When my boyfriend and I arrived we were told that the waitress waiting on our table was having a " bad day" but I think it was more than that, she presented herself to be very miserable. She never did greet us but quickly blurted out to me in a walk by that we could go up to the bar to get our drinks, I said " ok thanks" what else could I say? The rest of the group had ordered their food but I could tell that she was not going to offer that option to us. I ate some chips from my parents burger basket. She never waited on us at all. Oh well, I can deal with all that. What I cannot deal to well with is that she came to the center of our group and started disrespecting my young niece this waitress was telling all of us how awfully behaved and terrible she was , my niece is very young and innocent, the sweetest little girl I love and know, with a big heart that loves animals and wouldn't hurt a bug. At this point I was overwhelmed with frustration. Being a waitress is more of a challenge than most people think. I have respect for waitress, I was one for several years myself and have worked in customer service for 25 yrs. Its not a job for everyone and clearly being the owners daughter she got the privilege to attempt this job. Last night she could not handle this job, she was very unprofessional . I would suggest to the owner to take a look at his employees - daughter and reevaluate. The place make look nice but if the service isn't there the business won't last. If other people have even close to as negative experience as we did, I cant imagine business being open much more the a year or two and what a shame with the time and money he has put into it for that to happen. Waited an hour and a half for our food, owner came over and said we could have half off our bill which seemed reasonable to us, when we finally got our food 30 minutes later some of it was cold, and we had to get our own condiments and beer that we asked for multiple times. Owner didn't seem to care and somehow didn't understand why we were upset. Then he was going to make the waitress pay for half our bill, I told him he should pay half our bill not the underpaid waitress. He didn't seem to like that and told me "Don't tell me how to run my business" and then proceeded to yell at us, at which point we got up and left. He got one of his biker friends to try and intimidate us but then thought better of it when he realized they couldn't push us around. So instead he just swore at me in front of my children, if I were a small guy who knows what they would have done.
