The amount and types of beer on tap is mind boggling. Then you have all of the variety of bottles of beer. For someone who likes good craft beer, or sampling different kinds available nowhere else, this is the place for you. There's some wine available, as well. The have some large screen tv's as well, so it seems one can watch games here. The don't have their own kitchen, but they cleverly coolant collab with other restaurants in white center to allow deliveries, so you can eat from a variety of options. Great new addition to the White Center neighborhood. Stopped in yesterday to fill up a growler and got to taste two beers before deciding on what to fill and then asked for a 3rd sample after I'd made my pick and they were kind enough to allow me to try another one. I know it's generally standard practice to allow multiple tastings most places, but it's still a nice gesture. I think there were 12 cooler doors stocked with bottles and cans (didn't have time to browse them all on this first visit), and then 45 different options on draft! Mostly beers, but a couple of wines and n/a options, then a smaller list of half a dozen or so ciders as well. Great open space with some outside seating on a back deck and a play area of sorts for those trucking little ones around, but as another person mentioned here, the play area is far enough away from most of the rest of the seating that you don't feel like you're in a daycare if you don't want to be. :) Only thing I'd like to see more of is food/snack options, but you are able to bring in any outside food as well. read more

I moved to West Seattle a year and a half ago and have gone to Beer Star a handful of times and have always really enjoyed it. They are connected to an area that houses two restaurant counters Southside Pizza and Lil' Woodys Burgers. I have only tried the burger place but it's good food, greasy burger and fries - not healthy at all if that's what you're going for. But none the less, delicious! Beer Star has a fair amount of ready made snacks available for purchase as well. I've curated my own charcuterie board with crackers, cheese and cured meats to munch on. Over 30 beers on tap of a wide variety including ciders, sours, saisons and IPAs. Definitely a great spot, fun atmosphere. Kid and dog friendly. I never do this, but at this time, I feel it is important to stand up for bartenders and servers when they are harassed and threatened with "one-star reviews" by rude and entitled customers. I would not trust "Lizzy G's" one-star review; I was there while her entire group of rowdy Elementary School teachers (what a weird thing to type) were screaming, chanting, and being generally obnoxious throughout the hour and a half that I was there. They acted more like a group of tipsy college kids emboldened by their large numbers than they did a group of educators celebrating the end of the year. It is true that sometimes bartenders come off a bit curt but if you are an adult and have been out to any bar before you would learn not to take it personal and realize that they serve hundreds of people every day. They were busy at this time and do not have time to hold every oblivious customer's hand throughout the process of finding a beer (also, they happily give samples so you should have no problem getting what you want). Lizzy's group was loud, rude, and generally obnoxious to the point that every other customer around them was visibly annoyed so the bartender did his job by enforcing the rules. Just to be pedantic, it says on the signs at every table that screaming by children or adults is not allowed (both of which would have applied to this group). Furthermore, I go to Beer Star all the time and have never seen a person who thought it was okay to go to the other side of the bar so they can talk with a friend. It is not this bartender's fault that this group was so oblivious and entitled that they felt they could act without impunity. I was, frankly, disgusted by the actions of this group of teachers and embarrassed for them. They acted in ways that any establishment on a Wednesday afternoon would not tolerate and it is no fault of this bartender's for it. Lizzy deserves no explanation from Beer Star for why she was asked to quiet down and move to the seating area and if she can't understand that then she probably should just stay home next time. One last thing, they absolutely have dishwashers which are constantly in use. It only goes to how completely oblivious Lizzy and her group were and how she is only grasping at straws in an attempt to excuse their horrible behavior. I love Beer Star. It's a cool building in a fun neighborhood with a great selection of rotating tap and I've never had anything but fantastic service. read more

Definitely Chuck's Hop Shop vibe. Pets are allowed, lots of seating as well. ORDERING: Gotta order at the counter. Lines gets long as tastings happens at the counter as well. It was confusing at first because the bar area was pretty vast and there were 2/3 bartenders at the bar. SERVICE: An interesting situation happened while our group of 4 were there. There was a U-shaped long table and my friend stood on the inside of it for ease of conversation, he wasn't aware that it was a working area seeing that all oredering happens at the counter anyways. A bartender came over and asked him to move, my friend complied right away but the bartender continued to be touchy. My friend casually told the bartender that he was being a little touchy but it wasn't well received. The bartender then told my friend to leave but said the rest of us are welcome to stay if we chose to. I felt like the situation was blown WAY out of proportion. Seattle's service industry is definitely interesting in a terrible way. DRINKS: Definitely something for everyone from sours, ipa, saison etc....They have wine on tap as well. Although the beers and cider selection was great and had nice flavor, the customer service was atrocious. I had just finished work and met a ton of co workers here. We had reserved the area in the back since we knew we would be a big party. One of the servers and bar tenders, Evan, was extremely disrespectful with multiple lash outs at us. 1. When I was sitting next to my friend, I didn't know the area I placed the chair had to be made spacious so that he could get through. Instead of asking nicely, he yelled and snapped at me to move because I can't be sitting there and need to get through. 2. He barked at our staff for laughing a little too loud and said that we couldn't talk loud and we aren't allowed to "yell" and "laugh that loud". It's a pub and bar, people are going to get a little noisy and there's a nicer way of asking for people to keep their voices down. 3. My friend was in the u shape inside area of the bar tables. There was no chain to block off the area or sign that said people couldn't stand on that side to mingle. He came over and demanded my friend move and before she could even take 1 minute to move, he came back and bitched at her more about how she's not listening and that he can kick her out for not moving. Atleast give the person a few minutes to grab their food and move. We felt so disrespected and asked to speak to the manager and he basically told us the same thing. Then called us disrespectful. When in reality was we were trying to follow their rules but how are we supposed to know when it's our first time here and there isn't any sign signifying these things. I'm not one to normally be outspoken about this but I'd like to think I'm a pretty respectful person and the group of friends I was with are too. We tried to be respectful to them and talk in nice manners back but no customer should be treated as though the people who run it are on a damn high horse. read more

Perception is not reality...if you offer a kids area than be prepared to welcome families and have kids running around in your "kids area". Unimpressed with how they cater to this perception and I would highly recommend Ounces over Beer Star. When there are so many bars and restaurants that aren't family friendly it is disappointing to have a place like this pretend to offer "family friendly", but not welcome it once in person. They do lettuce wraps if you're on a health kick which is cool. Beer Star has an amazing patio and it's just great for meeting chill folks and their dogs. Cool bar\restaurant in Seattle that serves different types of beers. Food here is OK (wings, fries, pizza) but I don't think people are coming here for that. They have TVs everywhere and had several College football games showing at the same time. Only negative thing I can say (this might be a Seattle thing) was that they allowed dogs, some quite large to just hang out indoors. I don't think its sanitary to do that and I found it weird to have dogs sniffing my feet as I'm trying to eat my wings and watch the game. There was a dog that must have weighed close to 150 pounds about 5 feet from us. I'll probably come back here but maybe sit near the center of the restaurant to avoid the dogs. read more

So this is a really really weird dysfunctional bar. It's the only place I've ever heard of that will sell you a bottle of beer, but then charge you a "corkage" fee to open the beer. I am not kidding. To bottle open a beer that they sold you: "corkage fee." It's also the only bar I've ever heard of where if you're not sitting at the bar but you're sitting at one of the bar tables which are 3 feet from the bar, they will insist that you not get your beer from the bar but go up and wait in line at the "front desk" for some process of weirdness that takes ten minutes at least for service. It's the most rules based, weird bizarro beer joint I've ever been to. There are rules and obligations at this place that don't exist anywhere else in the beer or bar universe. So if you go there, just understand you are entering a difficult world of rules and regulations. read more

Fun place to hang out and drink beer. It's so cool that you can bring outside food (as long as you order a beverage from Beer Star) and your dog here! I've only been here twice and brought Li'l Woody's here (separate review for that). They have plenty of beers on tap and in their fridge for purchase. I usually get a cider here and it's so good! They also have plenty of games you can bring to your table. It gets pretty busy on the weekends but my friend and I were lucky to find a table right away. There's even a separate play area for children. I heard they open their patio when it's nice outside, can't wait for that! I'm actually not a beer drinker and so I was very excited to see they had more than one cider option (so many other places just have one cider on tap, whats up with that?) So happy to have found this place! It's a genius setup. Shared space with the pizza and hamburger places next door allows you to enjoy your beer in a friendly family and dog family location, and still enjoy food. Many places don't allow dogs in places that serve food or kids in places that serve only alcohol. So this combo is a win win win. Tap list is long and plentiful. They have a great app which allows you to see what's on tap and literally how much beer is left in each tank. Beers are rotated once a week. Decent pours and prices. If I was a beer fanatic, I would be here every other day to get my quick fix. With over 40 beers on tap and plenty more in bottle/can form, this place is a great place to hang out. What I like about this place is that they allow not only adults, but kids, dogs and pretty much any living thing enter. They still have a section where it's 21+ only but nonetheless, great to see that they allow more than just the adults in. And any place that allows you to bring in food from outside to eat is an A-Ok in my book. They have a chinese restaurant connected to their establishment as well as another burger spot. Thank you to a couple of visionaries that brought us Poquitos, Rhein Haus(I love bocce) and Bastille. White Center's gritty ambiance has been inescapable for my 12 years in residence and I feel like a traitor in my support of new upscale (in comparison) establishments, but Beer Star is awesome. The industrial design of open space, wood, steel and beer is perfect for small groups, large groups or recreational socializing. Love the west facing back deck too. When Li'l Woody's and the Chinese takeout open, this will be a destination resort. 48 taps running during my visit. Light ales, darks lagers and everything in between. Some ciders too. I am really looking forward to White Center renewal. Beer Star will certainly play a big part. read more

Went in to check the place out while getting my oil changed. Large, spacious bar. Nice big dog lounging nearby. Bought a Belgian saison. Enjoyed it. Got my tab. $19 for one (1) beer!!! I double checked the price and it was correct. I questioned the amount and they dropped it to only $10. Still the most expensive schooner ever-but better than $19! Loved this place! It's big and rustic but upscale! The awesome staff was attentive and helpful on a busy night! They let us try anything and were knowledgeable and had recommendations. Felt comfortable but not at all divey in the heart of white center. Walked to get food and bring it back from bok a bok which was awesome but also close by is drunkies BBQ, proletariat pizza, and a legit taco truck and corn shack! 4 TV's to watch sports, kids area for those that have them (but far enough away from people that don't want to rub elbows with them), and dogs allowed too! I've tried this place on and off since they opened about a year and a half ago. I have to say, it has only improved in that time. Great tap selection of more than just IPAs. A year ago I would have given them 2-3 stars based on their formerly outrageous tap pricing. Went in opening weekend and spent 18 for two beers and tip for local beers we consistently drink in the same area for about 13. They got that memo and dropped their prices to normal levels in line with everyone else. Great to have a Chuck's replacement on the south side! read more

I went here with some friends on a Tuesday night to try it out. The place was packed! Goodness, this is exactly what White Center needed. A great place to go with friends, go on a date or even being the family. They have two restaurants inside (Lil Woody's and CTO) and you can order from the restaurant and they give you a beeper and it goes off when your food is ready. They also have a great deck that has plenty of seating. So excited for this place to spruce up White Center. read more

Went there twice during their opening weekend. Loved the atmosphere and the selection of beers. Don't fret you wine drinkers because they have an assortment of full bottles. The deck is a great add especially on a sunny day. Suggest you get a growler from the get go if you plan to have a few beers. It's a great deal that way. They currently do not serve hot food but the owner told us that they will have a kitchen up and running soon. They just opened on Memorial weekend so they are still getting things settled.
