Many companies today will take advantage of a situation when they believe a non- life threatening emergency exists and there is a profit to be made. I recently had a situation that was not life threatening and also not an emergency however it could have been perceived as one. I recently bought a Toyota Tundra and received only 1 key. I decided to not go to the dealership to get some new keys programmed and cut but instead bought two blank keys on ebay and programmed them myself. After getting them programmed I needed to get them cut. I reached out to a the usual suspects of home depot and Lowes but they said no they would only cut keys bought from them so I decided to reach out to some locksmiths in the dfw area. I contacted at least 20 places. I informed them that I needed to get 2 blanks cut to fit my Totota Tundra and that I had an original working key already. Almost all of the ones I reached out to gave me an estimate between $50-$195. I was shocked because this was as easy as cutting a house key. All they had to do was take the original place it in their machine attach the blank slide it back and forth and then do the second. I confirmed again with them that they understood these keys were already programmed. Every single one of them said yes they understood but they said these keys are special because there is a chip so they cost more to cut. Some even said I shouldn't wait too long to get the keys cut because it will cost more if I don't have a backup and need a locksmith at that point. I was baffled one place even said they would have to reprogram it after they cut because cutting the key will make it lose it's programming. Sharks smelling blood in the water was how I saw it. It was disheartening to hear how many locksmiths were willing to rip us off for a simple key cut just because the opportunity was there. I then got the first honest response of all the locksmiths from Bee's keys. They said at most $2 a key if the keys were already pre-programmed. I drove to the store front handed them the key and told them what I was being told. The locksmith told me that's ridiculous. He then took the keys and cut them in less than 2 minutes and then told me "don't worry about it it's on me". Walked out to my truck put the keys in and the truck started up no problem at all! If you want an honest locksmith I highly recommend Bee's keys. I will be recommending only them in the DFW area for all lock and keys moving forward. Be careful with the others around town. Horrible service!! Dropped off 3 locks to get keys made from an old Safe. Was assurred by staff at Bees Keys that they could make the keys. After a month and a half no keys were made, so I took the locks back and in one week had another locksmith cut me new keys. NEVER doing business with these folks. read more

After getting hit on by the keymaker, I come home to test my new keys and one gets stuck in the lock overnight. I tried ice, WD40, and a variety of other online suggestions with no actual solution. It's fine if you want to make friends with customers, but don't get so distracted that you can't make the keys correctly. They never returned my calls to their emergency line, regular voicemails, or emails. I had to call back the next day after patiently waiting for them to call and apologize. I've never had issues with keys from Home Depot or Lowe's. Shameful. Very disappointed in my first and last time using this company. read more

I don't know why anyone would give them a good review. I was told they would come between 11 and 1. When no one appeared, I called and was told I said for them to come between 4 and 6 when their locksmith called. He never called me. Later they called and said no one would be coming because I chewed their locksmith out. I never spoke to him! Some way to run a business--- into the ground. read more

Warning! They close at 5 and don't bother leaving a message. I left two messages on two different days with no call back. I finally reached them and they could not work around my schedule. It is essential for everyone in Dallas to know about Bee's Keys. These friendly folks should be the first number in your speed dial as they will definitely get you out of a jam at some point in your life. Anytime I get a new key, they are my first stop to get copies. While there are many places to go for keys, most aren't machined well or are made with substandard metal, leaving slivers on the key that can get caught in your lock. They also do all the standard lock installation and repair work at their office and on-site. Most importantly though, they can get your car/office/home unlocked if you lock yourself out in about 20 minutes anywhere in Dallas during business hours. There is no after hours service available, so make sure you take your keys with you before that late night Pluckers run! read more

Had a 2 hour window for an appointment. I called an hour into the window and got assurance that they would be there in the next hour. It is now well outside that range and I am still waiting for a service person to arrive... I am guessing they do good work but it is hard to tell when they don't show up. read more

Very easy, very fast. I needed some duplicates for our house key, that has been difficult to duplicate in the past. I read the reviews here on Yelp and figured it was worth the trip to Bee's Keys, and it was. They made me three copies in about a minute. Each cost a dollar more than trying to use one of those kiosks, and these worked perfectly when I got home. I like local businesses, and this one fits perfectly. read more

My car key broke off in my door. My only spare was too wide for my ignition but fit my door. (Same key though) I first called a different company and gave them my year make and model. 130 starting price because it needs a computer chip and they have to come to me. I posted my dismay on Facebook and a friend told me about Bee's Keys and got a ride up there with my oversized spare. The guy told me it does NOT have a chip and cut me a better one. "Try this and of it works come back and I'll get the piece from your door." Since it was a risk he didn't charge me and it worked! I'm going back to get the part removed and three copies made! I have an old car... and a little piece of the cover (no idea why its plastic) that covers the key-cylinder broke off and fell into the lock... which meant I couldn't get the key in and would have to lock/open the door by going through the passenger's side. I brought my car to Bee's Keys... one of the polite employees brought a couple of tools out with him, twiddled away at it... and in a few minutes was able to get the key working again. It had to happen sooner or later in life. I locked myself out of my car yesterday. Bee's was the nearest so I called and they had a fellow there in a few minutes who got me back in. All great. An hour later I did it again! Locked myself out of the car! He came again, We both laughed about the odds, I paid my fee for stupidity and went to lunch. Guess what.....again....yup. Three times within as many hours. This time I decided to call someone else because I was too embarrased to call Bee's again. But, nobody else could get to me for several hours. So, I called Bee's again. I could sense the skepticism over the phone and when the key guy finally showed up again, it took a half hour this time (understandably), he looked at me like I might be a little off my rocker, perhaos even dangerous. It wasn't so easy laughing about it this time because it was just too weird. So...I wanted to say to anyone looking for key work, these folks hung in there even when it got weird. I went in to get a copy of my 1998 Toyota 4Runner ignition key (my ignition and locks are two separate keys) Walmart and Home Depot were unable to help with this. The center console lock in my British Exotic required keys be made. When I took the lock apart to remove the cylinder I was unable to put it back together. The group at the store took the time to determine how to reassemble the unit and produce a master and two spare keys. When I returned to the shop to reassemble the unit, once again it came apart this time loosing a key brass pin. Back to Bee's Keys with the unit. The complete unit was assembled and presented for installation in the vehicle. No hasstle just a professional approach to the issue. Price was quite adequate for the time and effort required. I didn't think I would write a review for a locksmith, but these guys deserve a great review. I'm so glad fellow Yelpers pointed me in their direction. The one and only key to the safe (with my passport) was in California, while I was in Dallas. They had it opened within a minute without damaging the safe and even made new keys. They were also honest and asked to see identification in the safe that matched my identification to ensure I was the rightful owner. They were fast and very respectful of my time.
