The secret to any great party is a great cake and Bee's Knees Bakery consistently delivers! So much so that I felt like I needed to update my review and add pictures. Not only do the cakes look stunning but the flavor and texture of the cakes are absolutely phenomenal. I've been using them for every special occasion and birthday party for me and my daughter for over nine years. I can honestly say I will never go anywhere else. My personal favorite and the flavor I get the most compliments on at all my parties is the vanilla cake it reminds me of angel food cake but more dense giving it the perfect cake texture and flavor. The cake isn't overly sweet so the sweetness of the icing compliments it very well making for the perfect bite every time. I also love the pink champagne cake. It's a gorgeous pink cake with an almost bubbly flavor with the tastiest fluffiest icing. I'm for real obsessed. They also do cookies and cupcakes in an assortment of flavors that you can order or find in their case each day so yummy! The hummingbird, pink champagne, the Italian and the s'mores cupcakes are our favorites and ones we always pick up for a little treat when we are in Athens. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and they are fantastic at what they do! My daughter's birthday was this past week and they made a beautiful pastel vanilla cake that we have been eating literally every chance we get. It's just so good!! I am getting ready to order my 5th birthday cake from Bee's Knees and decided to go on-line to look at what others have ordered to get ideas. I noticed that on Yelp they had less than a five star review and decided to investigate. I was surprised at what I found....2 didn't like their phone etiquette, 1 received a sample from next door "okay, one man from CT gave 1 star because they didn't serve coffee and one said something about the taste of the cake being a little dry but loved the icing! Seriously, this is why you give a 1 or 2 star review to a small business!?! First, they are really busy at lunch with their sandwiches, bakery items, preparing for catering and baking cakes and cupcakes!!! I find them to be direct and to the point when they answer the phone but not rude. It's lunch and this isn't Publix or Kroger, it is a small, independent business. Give them a little understanding. Be happy they answer the phone in these times! I'm glad to have a human and not please select a number or leave a message. To the man that gave one star for not having coffee....seriously!? Well go to Starbucks, enjoy their service and whatever you can find worth eating. Does that really qualify a one star review??? All I am saying is think before you leave one star. Give some grace....at least sometimes. Oh and one woman raved about the cupcakes but didn't like ONE of their flavors (she gave 2 stars)!!!! My experience has been wonderful. My husband absolutely LOVES their cakes as does everyone we have celebrated with. They are most accommodating in helping with a budget, short time in creating a masterpiece, helping decide on decorations, size and flavors. I'm always overjoyed with my cakes. Just wanted to write a quick review of my experience. I have not been here but I called yesterday for inquiries and received VERY short answers. I happened to call the number back today thinking it was somewhere else.... And once I said "I'm sorry, I think I called the wrong number". I was immediately hung up on. I've been going to Bee's Knees ever since their original location existed. I really enjoy them. Their cakes and cupcakes are really good, but their ooey gooey bars are the gems of their offerings. They are so moist, but cooked so that you get some awesome thick edges. I like all the flavors a lot. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality. I was given the wrong thing for the first time today, and didn't think to check til I was very far away, but we all have off days. First time in what, almost a decade that that's ever happened? There are not enough reviews here to say how spectacular this bakery is. And I should know. I live in Savannah, where bakeries are a novelty. Bees Knees is truly wonderful. I wanted to send my sweet friend a happy work anniversary gift. She'd been going through some things and wanted to send her a reminder that she is loved and to celebrate the little things. Bee's Knees was wonderful. They had all her favorites, they put it in a box, and delivered the cupcakes to her door (in person!). Plus, they added a perfect little note. My friend loved her cupcakes. gooey bars are amazing! definitely the red velvet & peanut butter. they are very moist & delicious! I got a strawberry one too but it was mediocre. I also got a red velvet cupcake which was a little dry for me. the salted caramel, recommended by the lady working there, was disgusting to me. it was not my favorite by any means but I guess everyone has different tastes. my favorite was the tall dark & yummy! OH. MY. GOSH! if you stick it in the microwave for a bit, it is amazing. it left me in a food coma but it was well worth it! like this local bakery; luckily it's a ways from me or i would be 200 pounds, not 100 lol. give this place a shot, it's worth your money! read more

The cupcakes and their work is beautiful, but when it comes to taste. I bought 2 red velvet and 1 strawberry with vanilla butrercream. The icing is really good and that is why I gave 2 stars. I lo e real cream cheese icing, as for the cupcake it was super dry. You can also taste the cocoa in the red velvet which makes it taste like chocolate. Fabulous!!!! Had specialty Gluten Free cookies made for a sorority big/little night. They were a hit!!!

I was dying for a chicken salad sandwich and since i work close to this place i thought i would give it a try.... well i should have just gone in to subway and would have felt like i had a decent sandwich. It was $10 for a can coke, and a bag of lays chips, some chicken salad between two pieces of store bought bread.... no lettuce tomato nothing i guess i should have ask for that but i assumed that when you buy a $10 sandwich it comes with these things! I feel like the negative reviews are a little unfair. Bee's Knees is a wonderful little bakery and I have never received anything less than excellent. The selection is larger than you would think- about 10-15 different flavors of cupcakes, a few varieties of gooey bars, petit fours, cake pops, and now milkshakes. The red velvet cupcakes and fruity pebble cupcakes are absolutely AMAZING and much better quality than those of chain bakeries. First off I want to thank the wonderful staff at Bee's Knees for their help with my surprise. My partner was going back to Iraq at the beginning of this year and she loves cupcakes. I live in Las Vegas and she was leaving from Athens. I contacted several bakeries in the Athens/Bogart Area and Bee's Knees was the only one that would deliver to the area I needed them to and they had the best variety of cupcakes. They arranged everything over the phone and it was effortless. The nice gentleman on the phone took the time to tell me all the flavors and make suggestions. He didn't try to rush me off the phone like some other bakeries did. My delivery was delivered on time and fresh. My partner said they were the best cupcakes she ever had. She ate two of them and packed the rest of the dozen in a container and headed to the airport. The cupcakes survived the plane ride to Iraq and were still very moist and flavorful. To this day the red velvet cupcake is all she talks about. She is ready for another trip home so she can stop by in person. Every dessert item I've ever gotten here is delicious! However, the customer service isnt necessarily always overly welcoming or friendly. If you want great sweets I highly recommend especially the red velvet cupcakes!!! They are dense yet moist very smooth flavor and cream cheese frosting is delicious! I was looking for a specialized cake for my daughter's birthday party, and found this bakery online. They had amazing custom made cakes. I thought it would be the perfect place to find what I was looking for, so I decided to call and see if they could give me an idea of what they were able to do and approximately how much it would cost. The phone was answered quickly, but I was immediately told that I would have to send pictures of what I wanted by email before they could tell me anything. After a short conversation (with a person who was rude and easily agitated with me), I was finally able to get some "base" prices. However, the person on the phone was still rude and short with me. It was seriously as if I was causing an extreme amount of trouble by trying to do business there. Needless to say, I will take my business somewhere where it is wanted and appreciated.
