I moved to Eagan in 1998. I have almost exclusively gone to Coles. From their easy to use website, to the pleasant greeter is smooth. Then your stylist comes to get you, and it's off to the haircut. They keep notes on every client, so no matter who you see, they have a place to start. In my experience, they are constantly looking for feedback to make sure you get the cut you want. Don't be conflict avoidant, they want it to be interactive. Then they drop you to the front desk, where someone else does the checkout. It's probably to keep the stylists on time. Got to make that $$. Then you walk out with a smile, because you just got a cut you like. I've met the owner a few times through the years. He is a really nice guy. He makes a point to treat his team well. I like that they suggest products, but they don't push it. All in all, you get treated very well. read more

I've been going to Cole's for years! The last haircut I got was really BAD! I could have cut it better myself with a bowl and scissors! I was SHOCKED to realize that they store your card number in their system to now START charge you 1/2 the service price of your appointment if you have to cancel! I NEVER GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO STORE MY CARD NUMBER NOR WAS I TOLD THEY WERE GOING TO STORE IT I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING ABOUT THAT AND IM SHOCKED TO KNOW THEY DID! I think this could be even illegal without my permission or knowing anything about there practices! I'm going to check with a family member who is part of the Mn attorney generals office! I'm also going to call the better business office to report this to them! What if your card they had on file you didn't want to use anymore? There's nothing posted anywhere I can see about this! With there price going way up again for lousy service that I had to go somewhere else to have them fix it, I'll NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! I'm going to start going to Dalton Hair in Eagan from now on! Not only are they more reasonable in cost, but better overall service! My prediction, they will be going out of business because of lack of service! Avoid Cole's Salon in Eagan MN @colessalon! They absolutely butchered my daughter's hair. They swore they had stylists who could cut textured hair...no, turns out they don't. She went in for a 1" trim and somehow, Alex, the stylist, cut off 8" instead...and it wasn't even, either. There are sections of hair that are 2" shorter than everything around it (so those sections got 10" hacked off). Alex didn't comb her hair out at all, neither before nor after hacking at her head (I can't call it a cut... this was a hack job). I've posted a photo of how bad it was. My daughter went from mid-back to chin length hair in 20 minutes (who spends 20 minutes on a hair cut?!?!). Worse yet, Alex swears she only cut off an inch...liar. Now, I learned she picked up a scalp infection in the salon, too. Poorly trained staff. Unsanitary conditions. Avoid this place at all costs. This place should be shut down. read more

Mikaylah was PHENOMENAL! I had decided to get a haircut on a Friday morning and called around 830am and they were able to get me an appointment for 1140am! I ended up being a few minutes late due to traffic, but they were very nice and accommodating. Because we were a little short on time, Mikaylah had to give me a dry cut but she did an AMAZING JOB! I wanted to cut off about 5-6 inches and add some layers. She described to me exactly what she was thinking and what would work for my hair texture, which was so helpful. I am THRILLED with the result! I've had decent haircuts in the past but this one by far has made me the most excited! I will definitely be going back to her soon. :) read more

I've been going to Cole's for almost a year. I go to Carlee for eyebrow waxes, Brazilians, and dermaplaning. Carlee is very thorough and professional and I recommend her to anyone looking for a great wax or a change/improvement in their skincare routine. She took time to walk me through all of their products and how they would improve my skin based on my skin type. There is no pressure to buy their products, but I've bought the Image cleanser and self-tanner and they are great quality. read more

I went to Cole's Salon in Eagan (Pilot knob) last Wednesday for balayage and I am totally disappointed with their service. My balayage was done by one of their "Senior Designer" hair stylists and I would NOT recommend them to anyone. I paid about $140 including tip but the lady that colored my hair put very little color on my hair so none of my friends even realized that I have done balayage. I called the Salon the next day and talk to them about it and requested another appointment ( and of-course I didn't want to be charged because she wasn't doing a good job on my hair) but their customer service was so annoying they wanted to charge me. Normally the other salons I have been to for any service, if I was not satisfied or I wanted to adjust something, they would do it for free. but NOT in Cole's saloon. oh btw, when the lady was bleaching/coloring my hair, she won't let me look into to mirror until the end so I wouldn't know which exact parts she was bleaching or coloring. Finally I went to the salon and talked to lady that was doing my hair balayage and she accepted to do it again without charge and put more color. After she did it my hair was looking good but ALL the colors are now gone two days after I washed my hair. At least from my experience, they don't use good materials ( the balayage colors will go away couple of days after balayage), their customer service is not responsive and their "Senior Designer" does what ever she likes and don't care what you're really looking for. DON'T just look at how fancy their salon is, you WON'T get the look that you like in Cole's Salon Pilot Knob. read more

I usually go here to get my hair done. They have a decent sized space and usually busy. You will see people from all ages and gender here. They have plenty of magazines to flip through in their waiting area as you are waiting. They are pretty good at not making you wait too long. I always get my hair done with Po. The salon looked great and I'm pretty satisfied with how my hair looks, but I was confused with how my stylist treated my hair. She seemed rushed (which is fine, I understand she was probably pretty busy), but this led to a fairly aggressive experience. She ended up pulling my hair a lot (while separating it, combing it, shampooing it, etc.) which didn't feel super great. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day or something, but I left feeling confused and a little frustrated. The scalp massage that is pretty standard with most salons was very, very short and ended up just causing more pain because she pulled on the hair more. I know hair gets tangled, but I have never had an experience this painful at a salon before- I would assume people would learn how to avoid causing pain like this when they go to school for this. I'll probably still go back because everyone else was nice, the prices were fair, and I'm just going to assume that my stylist was having an off day. I went for an updo for my friends wedding. The Bobby pins fell out and the updo collapsed as soon as I got home which was like 5 mins later. I had to get it redone by another salon !!! The updo was a mess !! What a shame. Will never go back. read more

This review is for Katrina, who is an amazing hair stylist!!!! I travel a ton for work, and found myself in desperate need of a trim while in Minneapolis on business. Katrina was recommended to me by a colleague who has been seeing her religiously for years. She quickly and efficiently assessed my wishes and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. (If it's at all helpful to anyone reading this: I have tons of fine, naturally straight hair.) On top of the great haircut, Katrina used awesome Oribe and Bumble & Bumble products, and she even curled my hair into a cute style so I'd be lookin' good for the rest of the day. No one should assume she is just an out of control undisciplined child. By far the worst experience I have ever had. My hair was an awful color when I left nowhere near the color I wanted when I went in! The color basically washed out on the top part of my hair with in 2 washes! When I contacted the salon to get it fixed I was given the run around with no appointments available and they wanted me to pay more money for their mess up. After a week of having awful looking hair I went to another salon to get my hair fixed. read more

Terrible, terrible experience. I've had issues getting my haircut in the past, so I was VERY specific on exactly what I wanted. Lots of layers beginning at a certain point in my hair, cut into a V at the bottom, etc. I was assured this would all be no problem. I even paid the extra cost to have a more experienced professional work on my hair. Between the time I sat down in the seat, explained, had my hair shampooed and cut, the ENTIRE VISIT took TEN MINUTES. Ten minutes. And none of my wishes were taken into consideration. My hair is straight across at the bottom, and with these chunky, awful layers I look like I have a mullet. SIXTY DOLLARS FOR TEN MINUTES. And I told her that my hair did NOT look the way I wanted, I wanted the V, I wanted more layers to break up the awful mullet look. She ran her hands through my hair and told me to just style it differently to get the look I want. Sorry, no amount of styling is going to fix that the "layers" I have just cut my hair in half. She refused to do any further work on it, even though I was begging her to take the time and give me more layers. Awful, awful experience if they aren't willing to listen or take the time to do hair right. read more

I have had my hair done here for homecoming and prom and they always did a fantastic job. I like how clean it is and the atmosphere is nice and welcoming. I always get my brows done here but I will say that I will only go to two of the specialists because I have had some disappointing experiences with other specialists who were harsh on my skin when waxing and plucking and over did my brows twice in a row. Just went here for the first time. Called to arrange a wax and haircut a few days ago and was told they had two appointments with just a ten minute gap. The wax was fine though the aesthetician was less adept at removing the wax than many I have had before, she was very nice and professional. A nice associate helped me select some products though was not informed on prices or safety ratings of the products even though she said she was the retail manager. I then waited almost forty minutes in between my supposedly sequential appointments and ended up not having time for the haircut because I had to pick up my child at daycare. The girl who checked me out was not apologetic at all and didn't even offer to re-book me - I guess they don't want my business! I have lived in San Francisco, Boston, and New York, and have frequented a lot of salons - most of which recognized that this is a service industry. My time is valuable because the reason I can afford spa prices is that I have a demanding job. I really wanted to have a good experience because Cole's is so convenient and sells Aveda which I love, but I really am disappointed in my experience today, plus now I have no haircut for an important function tomorrow! I have no tolerance for service industry businesses that don't recognize the service component! read more
