This Salon, in my opinion, has zero customer service. I have seen the same Barber/Stylist who is also an owner, for years and years. I have followed him through 3 location changes. I made all of my 2026 appts in January 2026 so I had the appts I needed for the year. I go in approximately every 6 weeks. In March I made it for my Birthday so I would have my hair done for celebrating. The receptionist calls to cancel my appointment because my stylist is going on an unplanned vacation (one of their kids gave them the trip as a gift for Christmas so why did they even schedule my appt in March if they knew in December they would be gone) and doesn't even try to fit me in, just says I can schedule with another stylist. Let me add to this that I have extremely difficult hair to cut and style. Not just "anyone" can do it. So I'm left high and dry for my Birthday. Now I have a June 1st appt scheduled and I find out today, May 26, that another vacation has taken priority over my appt and again they cannot fit me in before he leaves. When someone charges $108 for a haircut you expect some professionalism and customer service. Could the stylist call and try to fit me in? Nope. Makes the receptionist do his dirty work. Maybe he should just retire and vacation all he wants rather than make appts he doesn't keep. He never used to do until this last year. I am finding there are much friendlier, very talented and more customer service oriented salons in White Bear than this one and they aren't as expensive. Would not recommend based on the non existent concern about their clients schedules/needs. Overpriced for what you don't get in my opinion. read more

I've been going here for almost 5 years now. The salon is always warm and welcoming. Very aesthetic. Everyone is helpful and nice. Rarely ever waiting for my appointment. Mostly have been getting blonde full foils but had my fair share of getting color on my hair as well! Highly recommend! They also do extensions here - very experienced! Booked my hair and makeup at Salon Cheveux for my cousin's wedding tonight three months ago. I made a hair appointment for my twin sister last minute- a week or two ago. The receptionist told me we had the same hair stylist, but the stylist wouldn't have enough time to do a formal updo for my sister. My sister called and spoke with the receptionist stating that she could wash and blow dry her hair in the hotel before the appointment in order to get an updo. The receptionist stated that would be fine. The hair stylist did Bri's hair in 20-30 minutes and told her she didn't have time for an updo. Taking one look at my sister's hair filled me with trepidation. Her hair is naturally curly and very thick. The stylist curled her hair with a straightening iron and produced boxy, misshapen curls. She ended up going back to the hotel and taking an hour to fix it. Wasted $45. My turn. I was told by the hair stylist she had a little time, so I had a partial updo which turned out ok. She finished my 1.5 hour appointment in 30 minutes. So while she could've fit my twin in to finish the hair, she didn't. In terms of hair talent, we both witnessed many impressive hair styles for wedding party ladies while we were sitting there. I then had my make-up session. My makeup artist was nice and personable. An hour flew by with good conversation. "I'm almost done! Would you like to see?" She handed me a mirror.... and Cinderella's ugly step-sister stared back. Somehow the makeup brought out every wrinkle and blemish. I burst into tears. I asked for wipes to take off the makeup with the intention of leaving. Another makeup artist, the wonderful Renate, somehow managed to takeover wiping the layers of powder caked on my face and transformed my face into something pleasant in about 40 minutes. She is 5-stars. After my makeup, I went to pay for everything. My final disappointment was hearing the initial makeup artist telling the receptionist to charge an additional $25 for the airbrush makeup on top of $50 for makeup. This situation required the additional expertise of Renate, who was in the middle of processing a client's hair but jumped in to save the day like a superhero. I do feel Renate's skills are absolutely worth that amount of money, however out of professional courtesy given the extra time and massive disappointment don't think it's right to be charged it. Should it have been my business, I would've made it right with the customer in an attempt to capture future business. While all staff members were friendly, the establishment itself a beautiful, chic, clean salon, I won't come back because of the overall experience. read more

they DESERVE 0 stars. I recently went to salon Cheveux this wasn't my first time doing.. I got there at 5pm and had a regular appt with my regular person like normal and everyone was in such a rush. i went to get an eyebrow wax and tint from someone in the salon and she was very rushed and care free. ripping off the wax and even ripping it off the wrong way. I honestly don't recommend at all it was very overpriced and I tipped 25% of the total just for her to screw up my entire face I now am left with having permanent scaring from roping the wax, it peeled off all my skin and left big red lines around ever part she waxed and ruined my eyebrows I expect my money back for her chemically burning and ripping my skin off. Whatever you do, don't go here if you want high light low light. you get beige. I walked out with dark roots over my gray which will make me a skunk in no time and the bleached hair got muddied with the dark and after one wash I'm now just an ashy beige. it's horrible. The problem with moving is finding those people you can't live without. Things like doctors, dentists, and a good haircut; you know the basic essentials. I tried a couple of places before settling on Salon Cheveux. The place I went to back in California pampered me beyond belief. They had free beer/wine/mimosas and the haircuts took at least 45-1 hour. Being a guy, an hour long haircut is pretty long, but it is well worth it at the end. The two places I tried before Salon Cheveux did decent jobs, but the big issue for me was that they seemed to do a rush job. They would pull out the clippers and just clipper my hair. Never looked super great. My husband came here and had a haircut by Kirsten. I thought it looked great so I decided to give her a try. Right away I liked her and this place. Clean, bright, and a good smack of luxury when you walk in the door. No free mimosas, but I can live with that. Kirsten does an awesome job. She never used the clippers on my hair and she really takes her time to make sure it is done right. Sometimes there can be a wait to see your stylist, but what salon doesn't? It isn't a terrible place to wait and you should know by now to factor that into your appointment. The only gripe I have with them is not being able to tip with a card. I don't regularly carry cash or pay for anything with cash. It adds extra steps to the haircut process when you have to remember to have just enough cash to tip. I won't dock them a star because that is management's issue and nothing to do with the quality of work or the store. 82/100 read more

If I get my hair colored or higlights, this is where I go. They are very, very good. It's expensive but worth it. I've also had make-up tutorials here and special occasion styling. Both were very good as well. They do push product though, so they loose a star for that. read more

I'm giving this salon 5 stars soley because of the amazing work Sammi does. Not only is Sammi extremely talented with color and cuts, but she's also so sweet and a joy to talk to. I've been going to her for around 3 years now and it's like going to visit a friend. She asks how school is going or what I'm doing now, about my boyfriend, about my family; she makes sure to really engage with her clients and make them feel special. She takes time to talk about what I'm looking for in a new haircut or color, then, after we discuss and I show her photos of what I want, she goes through what she's going to do with my hair step by step to make sure we're on the same page. Since I get full balayages, it takes a long time but Sammi doesn't make me feel like she's on a time-crunch or that I'm slowing her down. She always makes sure I'm comfortable and well taken care of no matter how long it takes. I definitely recommend her and the salon. The salon is very clean and comfortable. I have been to Salon Cheveux on a number of occasions. Once for a 1/2 day spa treatment (for a christmas gift) and many other times to treat myself to a shampoo and style. The people are always super friendly, the place is beautiful and well kept and their prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this place! The women there do an excellent job with cuts, styling, AMAZING facials and massages. If you want to treat yourself to a little something special or need to find youreslf a new spot to get your hair done I would highly recommend Salon Cheveux :) read more

My mom has been going to Salon Cheveux since it was in a rinky dink strip mall in Roseville. And 15 years later, it is in this beautiful space in Maplewood. I have used the salon off and on since I was in my teens (now I'm in my 30's, eeek!) and I have usually used Renate. She is super sweet, and can either talk your ear off or not (I prefer the latter). Her cuts are great, she is very quick and experienced. The head massage is the best, seriously, I will always do a $40 haircut over Great Clips simply for those little extra touches. I've never had product pushed on me, but when I get facials there, they do talk you through what products they used. I like that, though. Their pedicures are so/so, but I feel that way about any spa pedi...the nail places just do a better job for a better price. The other downside is that you can only tip in cash...I really don't like this practice, it makes things very awkward. So in conclusion, Salon Cheveux is a place full of pros that know their stuff. So I'm dealing with a cross-country move (i.e. no stylist here) and trying to grow my hair out for my upcoming nuptials but I still want it to look good. This place is semi-close to my place and I used to go to an Aveda salon before the move so I know I like their stuff and most of their stylists go through that training, right? So I bit the bullet and went. Kaitlyn was nice enough to deal with me, told her I just wanted an all over color and then a trim. She asked me a lot of questions but didn't talk about herself much. I like a back-and forth, you know? But she was really nice and I like my hair so how important is it really. My only real complaint is that I have one section of hair that is super thick and likes to fight my hair straightener at every turn so I always have it thinned out. I seriously told her to "go to town" on it. It's still unruly but it's partially my fault for not telling her to cut more. Next time I'll tell her to take off as much as she likes, and then do some more. No products pushed, which was nice. The salon was nice. Didn't get to leave a tip since I didn't have cash and didn't know. Had to stop back another day which was embarrassing. All in all, I'll go back. This time with cash. read more

I received the worst haircut of my life at Salon Cheveaux. I love Aveda salons and expected a stylist who charges $65 a haircut to take some time and discuss a haircut and really understand a new client. Instead I was left waiting over 20 minutes past my appointment ( with no word from anyone ) and then felt very rushed by my stylist. When I mentioned it seemed she was cutting a lot off,she laughed and insisted it was only and inch and a half. She cut up to 4 inch layers throughout my hair ( i had no layers when i walked in except a couple in the front) and basically gave me the Rachel haircut from 1994! It will take a year for me to grow it out. Extremely disappointed, i would have been better off going to Great Clips or having my husband cut it. read more

Every time I travel to MN from AZ I ask my mother to call in and make an appointment for me. I don't always get the same stylist, but I am never disappointed. Sonny Purdy was recommended to me for micro-blading of my eyebrows. Although it required a 6 hour drive and an overnight stay, it was well worth it! I had two micro-blading sessions with Sonny Purdy over a six week period. Sonny is totally professional and extremely skilled! She explained the process and helped to relieve my anxiety (I had seen botched jobs on the internet). Never any pain! She was meticulous in measuring and balancing both brows and always checked with me before proceeding. I am so very pleased with my "new brows" ! I plan to return for a retouch in a year! Im writing this review months later because I still cant get over the fact that my hair is ruined and keeps breaking off. Around January I had my hair balayaged here and I saw no major results so I asked for a refund. I was told I couldn't get a refund but I could get my hair fixed... I went back 3 days later to have my hair bleached again. I even told the stylist I was worried it would damage my hair bleaching it again so soon, she told me my hair would be fine and that it seemed healthy. I left the salon with very much lighter hair that day and it felt soft and smooth. As weeks went on it started to feel so dead and tangled. Ever since then I have been using hair masks weekly, buying expensive products to revive my hair and yet it still has major breakage and has chunks of hair that are way shorter than the rest. I know my stylist was newer at the time and im not mad at her, im mad at myself for going back to get it "fixed" I hope no one else has to go through this, my hair is my life and now I have to get a major haircut to create one even length.:( read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I honestly don't leave reviews, but I feel like I need to in this instance. I went to see one of their more "experienced" stylists and was not happy with the color at all. I was told that if someone else fixed it, then I would have to pay for it, per their policy. Then they proceeded to put me with a novice stylist, hoping she could fix my color. I also had chemical burns from the color. For seeing their "top stylist" I wouldn't expect this. The owner was rude to me and very unapologetic. She also said $155 wasn't a lot of money for a partial foil...I beg to differ. I do not recommend this place at all. Please beware! read more

I had my hair cut and colored by Sammi. It was my first time being at this salon- although in the past I have used several other Aveda Salons. I had an amazing experience! Everyone was so delightful, and Sammi was so easy to talk to and really knew what she was doing! I got exactly what I asked for..the perfect color and a nice/flattering haircut. The price was affordable, and products were not pushed on me-which I appreciated. All in all I felt very relaxed and happy upon leaving the store. I will definitely be returning to see Sammi again! I read all the reviews and it sounded like an excellent place. Being an Aveda salon, I expected really good things. I have had a hard time finding a good color stylist. I went in with a picture depicting the exact color I wanted my hair (it needed "fixing" from the last place I went, and after being referred by a friend and reading all reviews, I thought Salon Cheveux would be the place that would help get my hair color back on track). When I left, my hair looked absolutely nothing like I wanted it. In the salon, when they show you when they're done, it's hard to tell, as the lighting in there is somewhat dim. However, when I got to my car and looked in the outside light/mirror, I was very disappointed. The top and the bottom of my hair didn't even match colors. The bottom of my hair was pretty much an ashy grayish color and I was going for a medium-dark dimensional blonde. It looked even worse than when I initally came in. I won't name the stylist, as I don't want to point fingers (maybe she was new??), but let's just say I was so disappointed with my ugly new hair color that two days later I ran out to get it fixed (again, ugh!) at Fantastic Sams and it actually looks MUCH better now(surprisingly, since Fantastic Sams is no Aveda salon!) read more
