Hipster coffee by the PNE area. So I finally figured out why I had never been here despite passing by so many times over the years. This place is only open during office business hours. Parking is available on Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside is cozy and has that vintage feel. They sell coffee grounds in bags as well from the dispensers. Wonder if the old school rotary phone on the wall works. Would be cool if it did. There is also a nice large outdoor patio on the E side of the building, with limited shade. Staff were friendly and talkative. The coffee is pretty good here. Mind you I think most coffees taste good.

Tasty cinnamon bun and iced coffee! Solid coffee shop on Hastings St. Be sure to get the cinnamon bun warmed up!

I live by the motto that we are predestined so knowing that is why Waze took me out of my way knowing I will see the sign that says Cinnamon buns! My rental car screeched over to this place to find the buns advertised on their banner. This is one of those moments that you say I wish I lived here so I could come here every day. Once inside I don't see them until final I see a glass tray with the ginormous buns. One to go please yes that's right back into traffic with a nice warm sticky bun on my lap. It was my lucky day good to the last gooey drop and no evidence on my clothing! This is a must stop while in Vancouver. Yum.

Cute little coffee shop with quality coffee, delicious large gluten free cookies, friendly staff, good seating, free WiFi, bathroom, and much more (that we didn't have the opportunity to try yet)

IKEA-quality Cinnamon Bun with a Gourmet price tag.

Cinnamon Bun Review Never been a fan of the coffee (nor the ambiance) of this establishment but I was craving for a warm and gooey traditional cinnamon bun and this place claims they make some of the best so I stopped by and picked one up to go. Frosted Cinnamon Bun: $4.50 (Pic Uploaded) Cinnamon Bun was warmed for 30 secs in the microwave to melt the frosting and the innards. My observations are as follow: - Skimpy with the frosting - Dry and doughy (not soft and gooey) - Lacked sweetness (not enough sugar syrup) Cinnamon Bun was more in line with IKEA quality cinnamon buns with the price tag of a high end gourmet bun. It will be my final visit.

Oct.17 I cannot drink coffee, but I stopped by here on a rainy morning while I waited for someone. There is this old bicycle out front cemented in to the ground. IDK what the story behind that is, but I am sure someone does. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee made me want one BAD! But, I just stuck to a Rice Krispie. It was ok. I like their signs though, they made me LAUGH!

I just moved into the neighborhood and my coffee machine was still wrapped up so when I asked Yelp for suggestions, I was pointed to the laughing bean. I walked in and the gentleman working there (owner maybe?) greeted me, was patient with my slow ordering style and remembered my name until I walked out the door. I got the blueberry scone: stayed soft until afternoon (felt like it just melted in my mouth) and didn't leave any gritty feels like other ones in this city. The sweet aspect is perfect, don't need to add jam and I didn't feel sugar sick after. I also got the blueberry cream cheese muffin and shared it with my nephew the next day. We both loved it! It was still so moist, the boy shoved an adult sized bite in his tiny mouth and didn't choke he ate the crumbs off the table which I had to post a photo of because this picky eater NEVER eats crumbs off the table. I'm not a muffin person at all, not sure why I even bought it but I will go back for that muffin.

Neighbour-hoody goodness. The Bean has a reputation in the area for being very much a community and family oriented business with friendly counter attendants. Plenty of seating, good wireless and an outdoor area for strollers, bikes and the fur family too. It's not a roaster, so don't expect a pour over of El Salvador or a french press of your current favourite, but they use a JJbean house blend. Recommend you have a Cappuccino as the house coffee leaves a little to be desired. I mean this in no offensive manner, but I gotta be honest.

Came in out of the rain.. This is a very nice neighborhood coffee place. Free Wifi and nicely layout. The chai latte was very tasty but I am not sure why they throw in so much cinnamon on top. I was expecting some sort of latte art but all I got was cinnamon abstract and maybe a little heart. They are tables with plugs at the back for those that want to camp out here. Nice round tables up front for those coffee cliques to gather and chitchat. I have been to some poetry slams here years ago and there is space to accommodate about 30+ people comfortably.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Have seen Gary's fresh mango cakes all over IG and with my Dad's recent birthday I convinced my…read moresister to order one, instead of our usual mango cake from Saint Germaine bakery. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy.
