Came here with a friend for lunch on. Sunday - stayed pretty empty throughout the duration of our meal - maybe it gets busier in the evening? Simple and clean shop with an open kitchen/prep area. Not noisy at all and they played some good Indian music. Started with some chai - quite muted in flavor but fortunately not too sweet either. My friend got the lamb vindaloo, garlic nan and rice. I had the chicken biryani which I enjoyed. Nice and flavorful. I wish there was a bit more chicken in the dish. My friend enjoyed her meal and the garlic nan smelled amazing. I'm just starting to get very familiar with traditional Indian cuisine, outside of samosas, butter chicken, and tikka masala. Today, I ordered the Chicken Biryani. This dish reminds me of a traditional Trinidadian dish called Pelou, which is chicken and rice cooked to perfection with vegetables in one pot. The Biryani was so flavorful and delicious, with chunks of juicy chicken breast in every bite. The dish had a slight kick, with tons of flavor that will dance on your palette. The name of the restaurant does not sound like it's Indian but this is THE BEST North Indian restaurant in the area! I was blown away with the authentic tasting dishes. Starting off with the restaurant itself, there's only a few tables with a huge open space. I'm not sure how busy it gets here, but when I came for dinner on Sunday night it was not busy so seats weren't a problem. The seats... the booths are nice but the seat/bench itself is short. There were times when I felt like I was going to fall/slide off the chair. Once you sit in them you'll understand lol. Other than that the restaurant was nice and very clean! The food. I reaaally liked the food and service. We ordered our usual; chicken biryani, butter chicken, and garlic naan. The chicken biryani was a 10/10 especially because it came pretty much with another whole naan (plain) on top! Our waitress cut it open in front of us, revealing the biryani which was nice. Good portion as well. Garlic naan was fiirreeee and the pieces were big. The butter chicken.... SO good, but the sizing in my opinion was small. I would recommend getting your own butter chicken and not sharing especially if you're hungry.. haha. Overall, I really like this place and I would come back! It's convenient, fast/nice service, and clean. I would probably take the food home though because it was soooo cold inside, especially when the door would open constantly. Whether they over charged a dollar or $10, it's about the principle of it all Definitely not coming back to an establishment that lies, cheats, or steals from their customers. We have been traveling in the area and dropped into Bel King with modest expectations. We were immediately blown away! The smell hit us right away -- the taste soon after. Rich, melt-in-your mouth assortment of spice-inducing palate pleasers. Our hometown is no stranger to great Indian cuisine so we were both taken by surprise. Both my husband and I agree this was the best tasting samosas and butter chicken we have had in our foodie experience. The mango lassi, garlic naan and malai kofta were also very good. I really like Indian food so when visiting family we came here. We ate fairly early (5:30 pm) and were the only people at the place. It is clean and light but very basic interior design. I must say the Chana Masala was delicious! Really good flavor and perfect spice taste! My sister had chicken Vindaloo and I had chicken Korma. The Vindaloo was tasty but a lot of sauce (would have liked a bit more chicken). The Korma smelled wonderful and had lots of chicken but was very bland and could have used some spice for more flavor. Finally went into this restaurant & the food was amazing! The restaurant has several seating areas some close to the wall & some near the entrance. The service was wonderful, each table as signs notifying that the tables have been sanitized. The food that I tried was the mild Paneer Tikka Masala & their garlic naan bread. Restaurant was initially empty, but was bright and inviting with tasteful Indian wall art. We were greeted warmly by the chatty owner who cracked some jokes as we ordered. Vegan -Chana Masala -Tandoori Roti -Allo gobhi -Veggie biryani (made vegan with no raita) Non-vegan -Bel King Mixed grill -Chicken Tikka Masala -Garlic Naan -Samosa Chaat Most of the food was flavorful and delicious, but a bit pricey. Garlic naan was $5 per piece! Also the tikka masala didn't wow me- it lacked depth. The owner gave us some freebies, which was nice and we took some leftovers home. I've had Indian food in many places and Bel King is without a doubt the best I've had anywhere. We came through the area on a road trip and were looking for something for dinner. We tried Bel King and were not disappointed. The lentil soup had my entire family saying this was the best soup they ever had. The chicken vindaloo and our other entrees were absolutely delicious. Our server was also so attentive and kind. The food took about 10 minutes to be prepared and she assured us each dish was prepared fresh and required some time to make. Went here for dinner with my fiancé and had a nice time. We ordered two vegetarian dishes- Malai kofta and Navratan korma medium spice with brown rice and plain naan as sides, which were additional. The malai kofta is a dish with a creamy gravy sauce and four fried vegetable oval balls. My critique is the fried vegetable balls were salty. It balanced a bit with the subtle sauce, but was still salty. I told the waiter when he checked in on us for feedback and he thanked me, which was nice. The navratan korma is a curry dish with nine vegetables and I enjoyed this one more. It was more flavorful but balanced and I enjoyed the different textures of the vegetables. I compare all Indian restaurants to Swagat Indian Cuisine in Concord and Vaishnu Express Cafe in Vallejo. I ordered Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, Saag Paneer, and Garlic Naan. I found all the sauces too watery. The chicken was bland. It appears they use chicken breast and added it after the fact, so it lacked depth of it being stewed in the sauce. Swagat uses bone in chicken thighs and you can taste the difference. The lamb was tough. The Samosa Chana Chaat was good. I also ordered regular Samosas; It was comparable in taste to Vaishnu's at double the price. We enjoyed the Garlic Naan and the Fish Pakora. read more

Wanted to find somewhere to eat before we check in to our hotel. We found this little gem and very glad we did. The place is very clean and very nice. We ordered goat curry, which was the special of the day. Meat was very tender and does not taste gamey. We also ordered the channa masala and was also very tasty. Garlic naan was different from what I am used to getting from other restaurants but it still worth ordering. Bonus is, the owner was very attentive. I only had take out from this spot once, but damn was it fantastic! I ordered a samosa and chicken curry to go. I walked in, there were three gentlemen standing behind the counter eager to get my order. Once I ordered, it was less than 10 minutes until they had it packaged up and ready for me. I got it back to my hotel room and was amazed by how amazing the smell was. The samosa was a big fattie stuffed with potato, veggies, and delicious spices! The sauce didn't taste that great at first by itself, but once I put it on the fattie samosa, it transformed into a delicious duo. The chicken curry was legit. Big chunks of chicken with a super delicious sauce with a great side of long grain rice that had a hint of spice in it. I wanted to eat more of the curry, but the two samosas filled me up pretty well. I recommended this place to my local colleagues to check out. So freaking good! read more
