For a South Indian living in the Indian hub San Francisco Bay Area : the food here is sooooo mediocre and bland. Honestly we had no choice but to order here for dinner as pretty much everything was closed by the time we finished all our Napa activities. The biryani is a joke. It's exactly how it would be at a non Indian neighbourhood. Basmati rice mixed with curry. Also who adds bell peppers, corn, carrot to biryani. Oh god the horror. The dal tadka was made with channa dal. Never heard of that before. I wish everyone who live in Napa get a chance to eat real Indian food. This isn't it. I'm only giving 5 stars because I can't give fifty. I became vegan eight years ago and this is one of, if not thee best dining experiences I have had, and certainly at this price point. The place is not entirely vegan, but there are tons of options and the menu is very clearly and consistently laid out so vegans can order easily (note: for a few of the options with a "v" you still have to stipulate, as per the menu item description; I just stipulated at the beginning that we wanted everything vegan). We had the samosa appetizer, gobhi manchurian, and tofu curry, and each was phenomenal. After this, and roti and two rices on the side, my fiancee and I were not able to finish. It took her, myself, and my mom to finish the next day, which was mother's day. I think it was the best mother's day gift ever. We ended up going here as part of a two-night stay. But seriosly, we live in SF and I suspect we will be driving out the hour just for a little scenery and this place. read more

6 years ago, Aroma was decent and highly recommended. There seems to have been a change in ownership or management in the last year or two and the food has completely gone down hill. It is inedible and everything is sweet. The tandoori chicken was like spicy orange chicken in taste and texture. The bread was dry and definitely not what I would call naan. The people who work there are nice enough but the food is just horrible and EXPENSIVE. Honestly, they should sell the business because this isn't Indian food. Wow! What a great find! TLDR: If you are looking for tasty, authentic Indian cuisine in the Napa area, this is it! Very courteous staff, quick service and delicious flavors await any who visit! Note: the entrees don't come with rice so there is an additional charge for it, which was more expensive than I expected. The rest of the story: We popped into this place on New Year's Eve, after a quick trip to Napa. I was a little apprehensive when I saw the outside of the building but was pleasantly surprised by its tidy and welcoming decor inside and the friendly greeting we got from the staff. It was pretty quiet inside but there were a few other couples dining. The waiter seated us quickly and gave us a few minutes to review the menu. Soon we ordered the following dishes: Lamb biriani Goat vindaloo Chicken tikka masala Butter chicken Bullet naan Pizza naan After placing our order, the food was delivered to our table in about 15 mins and served piping hot. The lamb biriani presentation really blew us away! Unlike most Indian restaurants, it is not just brought in a bowl, this was served in a large, sloped bowl with a "top" of naan covering the bowl. The kicker is the naan was baked ON TOP OF THE BOWL! With some ceremony, the bowl was placed on the table and the server cut around the top with a knife and folded the top back to reveal the delicious dish underneath. It tasted just as good as it looked! All of the dishes were really well-seasoned. The meats were tender and prepared properly. If I had to nit-pick anything, the goat pieces had more gristle than I would have preferred but otherwise, everything was marvelous. Visited Aroma on a whim. We ordered pani puri, papdi chaat, chole bhature, and soya chili chaap for our appetizers. Pani puri was good but it was filled with too much potato for my liking. Papdi chaat was okay. Soya chili chaap was very tasty and the chole bhature were delicious! I would say the chole bhature were my favorite. For the mains we ordered garlic and plain naan, mango chicken, daal makhani, karahi paneer, and raita. Garlic naan had a lot of fresh garlic. The food was pretty fresh tasting and the spice level was customizable. The server/owner was really friendly and nice. We wanted to order chai but it was going to take too long to prepare since they brew the spices for a while. Honestly a very solid Indian food option in Napa. If I'm in the area again I would come back and hopefully try the chai. read more

We went to Aroma twice with two dofferent experiences. First time was in september 2025. We prdered tandoori roti and farm fresh vegetable curry. The service was great and food was even better. We remembered the place and decided to gp back if we were ever in Napa again. When we planned to visit this Aroma our trip to Napa this weekend. We recently went to Aroma for the lunch 1 buffet. We got there at 11:45 to get ahead f the lunch crowd. The place was empty except for a table of four that had already eaten. They have moved the buffet to a smaller *ble that only held six offerings. Vegetable Pakora, rice, matter paneer, potatoes and peppers, curry chicken, and tandoori chicken. Most were not very warm and only about 1/4-1/3 full. The panoramic was cold and dried out leftovers?) There was also 3 small bowls of green sauce, sambal, and mustard pickles, each with maybe 1/2 cup each. Only one other person came in during the next 45 minutes. This place used to be busy and offered more dishes. Where is salad and the dal? The girl working told us to use tne same plate if we wanted more( we didn't). That is a big no-no for buffets,. Do yourself a favor and try their lunch buffet! It's $23 but it's all you can eat and this is high-quality Indian food! So yummy... The naan is not in the lineup because they bring it to you fresh after you sit down! And you get a choice of garlic or plain. We were just so impressed and loved our waiter Russell. I hate cooked spinach, but I love sag paneer... Go figure! We tried something we hadn't had before and it was their mango chicken... really good. We were looking for a new place to try so went in to Aroma. We ordered the shrimp biryani appetizer, the butter chicken, the lamb curry, basmati rice and garlic naan. The butter chicken was delicious, really tender chicken and flavorful sauce. The shrimp had a nice kick and there were plenty to share. Those were our two standout dishes but everything was good. We used to order from Aroma all the time. For some reason we haven't since July and just ordered tonight. What happened?!? Chicken tikka and butter chicken were so sweet they could have been our desserts. My 9 year old sugar obsessed child said he can't eat it because it's too sweet! They made Jain food for us. They were able to make kadai paneer, bhindi and tadka daal Jain. Make sure to also tell them to avoid ginger and potatoes to get proper Jain food. I ordered a glass of wine, an eggplant entre, and assorted naan. Total bill was $51. which was reasonable given the quality and quantity. Service was attentive, courteous and timely. Had to stop and try some spicy food today and indeed we found the right place. Food was so full of flavor and we did ask for the spicy option. Then again I don't think for us there is any other option. The Lamb chops were so flavorful. I usually never eat lamb but I tried this one and did not stop eating. The server was very quick to seat us and bring everything out. We really appreciated this because were super hungry. We enjoyed the playlist they were playing. Aroma Indian Cuisine is the best in the valley and we always return because they are consistently good in food and service. My husband's favorite is the Biryani (tonight we had lamb). The Biryani bowl was sealed (like a pot pie) with naan. The chef cut open the naan and peeled it back to display the rice dish. We also enjoyed the Saag Paneer and the Goat Vindaloo. All the sauces had a depth that shows they did not skimp on the steps creating complex flavors resulting in satisfied guests. Tonight, Rony our server was extra personable and guided us through the menu to get the perfect spice level & blend for each dish. He was friendly and timed our dishes out perfectly. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan from here via DoorDash. The order arrived quickly and the Chicken Tikka Masala was still hot. The naan was soggy due to it being take out and the bread steamed in the foil, causing it to become soggy. Not to worry! We popped it in the oven on broil for a few minutes and corrected that issue.
