He acted professionally, and he even let me watch him install the new breakers. My only minor concern is he only hand tightened the screws "good and tight", instead of tightening them according to the 36(inch pounds) specification that was written on the breaker installation instructions, and on the new breakers themselves, when he installed the new breakers. Karlin said that this is the common practice among electricians and that very few, if any, bother to follow the inch pound torque standard when tightening circuit breakers. Also, it would have required use of a special expensive inch pound torque wrench that must undergo annual inspection and certification. (What a pay cut! Ouch!) These facts for now allay my concern enough that I can see myself hiring this firm again to do electrical work for me in the future. I say this especially since Karlin was an easy person to work with.

I had received a text from As You Wish regarding a special for an A/C Tuneup that turned out to be…read moreso much more than I expected. I contacted them to set up an appointment. Tessa, at the office, texted me to confirm my appointment time and included a photo of Rich, my service technician. Rich was fantastic. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgeable and very communicative. As expected, after his very comprehensive inspection and testing of my Furnace and A/C some serious issues were found. The 20 year old furnace had a crack in the heat exchanger, which Rich showed me on his camera. The 30 year old A/C had lost a significant amount of its effectiveness to cool my home and was wasting a lot of energy. Rich was there almost 2 hours and I got all this at an amazing special price of $29! He asked me if I wanted someone to come out and give me a free estimate to replace my furnace and A/C, and had the office schedule someone to come out when I returned from my upcoming trip. Two weeks later Dan Severt showed up on time to take measurements and collect the information needed to properly size the new systems I needed and provided me with a detailed estimate. He explained my options, explained the installation process, and covered possible financing options. As it was possible for me to get a loan through GreenSky to make monthly payments with no penalty for early payoff and no interest if paid in full within 18 months, I decided to proceed. Dan called the office to schedule the install for me and got me started with the GreenSky loan process. A short while later, Tessa texted me information about my install to begin the very next day. Later Tessa sent me a text to confirm my appointment and included photos of the technicians that would be coming. Next day she texted me that they were on their way and included a tracking link so I could monitor their progress. Technicians Obet and Cody arrived to begin the installation. As is usually the case with 40+ year old homes, and today's updated building codes and newer, more complicated "smart" systems, a few issues popped up. At all times the guys kept me informed of the issues, explained what my options were, and then executed the necessary workarounds. Dan also made himself available to come by personally to see the issues for himself and answer any questions I had and offer advice when asked. A short while later, a highly experienced Carlos arrived to assist the guys with problem resolution. They guys worked really hard from 9am to 10pm in order to complete their job for the electrician coming the next day. They cleaned up the job site and hauled away the old units. Meanwhile, back at the office, Sarah who had processed the necessary permit(s) texted me that she had made arrangements for the two required inspections, one for the electrical work and the other for Snohomish County building code adherence. She informed me that those two entities would reach out to me to set things up. Later I received a text that the electrician, Fredo, would arrive early the next morning. Fredo showed up on time and completed the electrical work in time for Benjamin to arrive. Benjamin completed a checkout, testing and startup of the system and demonstrated how to program the new smart thermostat. All worked perfectly. Without exception, everyone involved was timely, possessed excellent communication skills, was organized and highly skilled at their respective jobs. All of them were positive and courteous and respectful of me and my property. This was, by far, one of the best experiences I've ever had in a job requiring skilled labor! Kudos to As You Wish for having quality people and using quality suppliers for their HVAC systems! I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to invest in updating their systems, or in having them inspect and service their existing equipment. Ordinarily I would have sought out multiple estimates before hiring someone to do such a big job. I have no idea how the cost for As You Wish to do this job compares to the numerous other competitors in this sector, but I'm kind of glad I didn't. I was extremely satisfied with my end-to-end experience with Merv Electric. I had, what I would…read moreconsider, a large project to modernize a 30-year old, 6000+ sq ft home. We wanted to: 1) wire a new home theater with a 7.2 configuration, 2) add 7 wall mounted TV locations throughout the house, 3) hard wire smoke detectors up to current code, 4) network a home office, 5) neatly organize the central networking cabinet and 5) new lines out to the utility. At the last minute, we also decided to add new can lights to 3 of our bedrooms. Pasha and his team took care of everything and I would hire them again in a heartbeat! As others have noted, when you call, you get a prompt response from an electrician. Pasha came over, met with me to discuss the details, and sent me an itemized estimate with detailed descriptions. This was great because it ensured we were aligned on the scope. For a project with as many action items as mine, this was extremely useful. Once we were able to come to an agreement on the scope, price, and materials I would provide, he was able to get me on the schedule. The work was phenomenal. They were able to run all the wiring through the attic to each of the locations. Some of it was a bit tricky because of the complex roof structure with lots of cables, but they were still able to make all the runs clean end-to-end. They ran new networking, new speaker wires, and new power runs separately to minimize interference. In retrospect, I valued the conversations about which materials (e.g. smoke detectors, lights, networking cabinet hardware, etc.) would be better for me to provide instead of Pasha picking them out for me. These are often up to personal taste and preferences, so it not only reduced cost, but it also made it easier for me to get what I wanted. I was also very particular about what I was expecting. I had a vision of what I wanted everything to look like once it was done. In addition, the existing low-voltage wiring in the house was a mess (some through the attic, some through the crawlspace, it was a maze...) and I definitely was looking for something much better. Pasha communicated well, providing status updates and discussed with me how they were handling particularly challenging runs. Pasha also responded well to questions and feedback and started to anticipate my questions and adjusted his execution plan according. Pasha and his whole team definitely delivered! They were hard working, detail-oriented, and delivered great customer service, which was visible every step of the way. If you're looking for a solid electrician, I think you'd be hard pressed to find one better than Pasha and his team!
