Our company used Belfor to assist with water damage after a big storm. Sierra and Gavin were on it! They were here every day or every other day checking the readings. Was directed to call to schedule an appointment with a point of contact "Person S", so I made the initial call on Saturday but had to leave a message. Did not receive any call back over the weekend. Called again on Monday and was able to get a hold of "Person S" with a verbal agreement for Tuesday at 8:30am. Tuesday, arrived early at the site to be ready for the crew. 8:30am no one arrived, 9:00am passes and then finally at 9:49am received a message from someone else other than "Person S" to expect the crew at 12noon instead due to "people calling off". A call should've been made directly to me at 8:30am if they were gonna be late or want to make any changes to the agreed time not almost an hour and half later. Despite coming back to site at 12:00noon, the crew called/arrived 12:14pm. Crew was quick in removal of properties, but other than that the customer service and being unprofessionally late I was definitely not impress with that. Will keep this in mind for the future, need to be on top of them for trying to schedule and keeping the agreed appointments read more

I didn't do business with this company but wanted to praise a employee who did a random act of kindness on 10/12 around 5pm. My Costco membership card wasn't reading at the gas pump & I didn't see the attendant around so I asked the guy behind me if I could use his card. He did & was really nice, then I forgot which card I was paying with & put in the wrong pin. I needed to put my membership card in again so I asked him again & this time when he came back he surprised me saying "your gas is on me today, I hope this helps you have a better day" & left. It was $75 to fill up my gas & that's alot to gift a stranger & I'm so appreciative! I had a small list of things to get from Costco & that helped me to be able to buy more with my tight budget. Gave a 5 star rating to Belfor Property Restoration in 2017. However, it has changed. Its scheduling and customer service is lacking in professionalism. We were assigned a "Person S" who contacted us at the last minute to change our meeting time. Later, he called us to set up another visit, claiming that he had not met us before! Throughout the whole time, he would seldom reply to our texts and calls. He told us to delay our deductible payment to Belfor, yet never got back to us as to when we should send it in to Belfor. We had to take it upon ourselves to make the payment. The work was supposedly to cost around $5000, but was done in 2 phases and ended up costly almost double. We understood that once the workmen started the work, the damage may have been more extensive. Our stay at a hotel was extended twice from 3 nights to 10 nights. The only good thing about the restoration was the actual workmen: hardworking, courteous and helpful. It was very frustrating for us . read more

I found Belfor unprofessional and not trustworthy. A Belfor employee gave me an estimate for the work on my apartment which seemed reasonable. When Belfor provided the final invoice to me after the work was completed, the cost of the project had more than DOUBLED. I don't expect the final cost of a project to always match the estimate. But if I don't make any changes to the project and the final cost increases by more than double, I do consider that excessive and worthy of follow up with the related company. Because I wanted to see if a billing error had occurred, I emailed Belfor and asked for clarification re: the large discrepancy between the estimate and the final invoice. I was told someone would contact me after reviewing the information I had provided. When a manager finally contacted me, he indicated that legal action would be taken by Belfor unless I paid them the final invoice amount within 5 business days. I also had to endure multiple delays to the project due to the onsite team being pulled away to other projects. While my insurance company paid for the cost of the project, I ultimately was not satisfied with the manager's explanation of the final invoice amount. Because I'm still left questioning Belfor's billing practices and found their overall approach to this matter unprofessional, I will not give any future business to Belfor and would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

This was a terrible experience for us. They were contacted to do a site disinfection. Their quote was 4 times higher cost than other vendors, so we did not sign or approve their proposal. An hour later they were on site demanding to be let in to do the work. When they were denied entrance to the building I started to get harassing texts from their supervisor claiming he was going to pull his crew even though we never approved the proposal. This is not a very responsive contractor. It took many months to get my building permit approved because the city kept rejecting their submissions (3 times!) And every mistake made had delayed my project. My house burnt down Aug 2016 and until now, is still not repaired. Belfor submitted a bid to my insurance company and they were awarded. They then subcontracted my contract and just found out that was not my insurance company's expectation. Oct 2016 - Belfor got awarded the contract Sept 2017 - when they finally got the permit approved Dec 2017 - put framing to my house ..and that's it. Construction halted because they are requesting price adjustment but no one else is working on my case so responses to my insurance inquiries are not immediately addressed. They already received almost $200K but this is all they show for..rain and shine, left my house frames hanging for over 3 months! I keep asking about work efficiency, to do two things at once so we save time.. the answer is NO because everything is in process. Now the excuse is ordering trusses blah blah. Things could have been done before. I am not expert in construction but this is the worst experience anyone could have with any vendor! Now I have no house, paying for mortgage, paying for rent, paying for storage and this company continues to rip me off. Yeah, they don't care about clients, only their pockets. It took me this long to write a review because I still have hopes that they will turn around and this get this done. I'm out of hope. These guys are useless. read more

Let's start by saying how badly this company screwed my family and me over. My insurance company hired them when I had a leak in my house that flooded my bedroom. It took over six months to fix our bathroom. Finally, they told me to tell my insurance company that we were moving into our abatement period and would need to stay in a hotel because of asbestos while they were doing construction, my insurance company only allotted so much money, which kept us in a terrible hotel, for one month myself my one-year-old daughter and my pregnant wife were we couldn't cook and had to eat out every day with our own money which got expensive. after the month my hotel stay was over. Nothing got done, so all the hard work we did cleaning and moving things out of our bedrooms got pushed back into our bedrooms as we moved back into our home. When we moved back into our house, they started construction, so we lived there while they were doing construction. It made no sense they completely wasted our time. Our insurance companies money, and now have to clean up after them because they're doing a sloppy job leaving equipment everywhere dust and such. They tell us that we can take a shower. Our shower fell apart as we were using it. They fixed it again, and it's still falling apart. My year is getting into all this stuff, and she almost had a 2 x 4 fall on her head. It's just been a horrible experience. I would not recommend them to anyone unless you want a rushed and half *$$ job done. read more

Horrible company that home insurance referred us to. They are the only company registered to do home repairs for the insurance company in the State of Hawaii. As such, they don't care about customers. A file was opened in April of 2022 to get a repair estimate for water damage. If you want years of run around, thousands of dollars of excess charges to your insurance company, lack of communication, and a job that is not completed, then this is your company. They had no issue using my husbands tools, one of which was unopened when we left the house. They damaged so many items and have repeatedly refused to pay for the items they ruined. Then when the itemized bill came there were charges on the bill that could not have been possible. For example, a dishwasher disconnect and reconnect fee when my home does not have a dishwasher, or 12 labor hours to move a rolling cart from the kitchen. Anytime the charges were brought to light, the person in charge would not return any calls. RUN, do not use this company. They are FRAUDS and THIEFS! read more

A terrific experience with Belfor after a disastrous bathroom leak from a condo unit above destroyed my unit. Belfor's mitigation and restoration team were professional and worked expeditiously...from initial contact all the way through completion of the restoration. Dealing with management (Jeremy Schmalfeldt), project management (Zach Kamalani), the mitigation crew (didn't get their names since they were working so feverishly and were in and out in a day or so) and the restoration crew (Rico Cortez) (Zane Pillar), was a pleasure. Their attention to detail and professionalism was impeccable. If you want highly skilled and experienced people handling a difficult emergency situation, I would highly and strongly recommend Belfor. I am 100% satisfied with everything the Hawaii Belfor team did for me and am grateful they were available to help me during a rough mini-catastrophe. I am a professional property manager and I had a great experience with Kaylin Yoshida and Tim Lu of Belfor when I had a potential mold issue reported at an apartment I manage. This sort of thing can be a real nightmare, but Kaylin and Tim were able to answer my questions and Belfor was sent for an initial inspection. The initial inspection found the unit to be clear and cost was VERY reasonable, especially considering the potential issue for the apartment owner! I got a good report for our records, and the tenants were reassured. Tenants even complimented me and Belfor for sending a qualified professional to investigate the unit and explain everything to them. Crisis averted! read more

When you are in need of emergency restoration work take a little extra time and find another restoration company and DO NOT pick Belfor. In my opinion they do not care about their customers and treat you terribly. Below is my experience in working with Belfor in Orlando. In February I had a flood happen at my personal residence and needed emergency remediation. My insurance broker recommended Belfor so I called them and had them start on my job. In hindsight, I wish I would have done some diligence and hired another company. At the end of the day they dried out my house and removed all of the wet damaged items, however it is how they went about it that I have a significant problem. First, the communication directly with ME, the person responsible for the bill was subpar at best. However the communication with the insurance company was great. That doesn't do me any good when they drop the bill on me and then Belfor tells me I have less than 7 days to pay or they are going to file a lien on my house. Regardless if you have been paid by the insurance company, they want their money now! Forget about it if you have questions about your bill, I have asked verbally 3+ times and written at least 2x for additional information to support their bill, only to have complete silence from Belfor. Ultimately I am being forced to pay a bill that I feel may be inaccurate and I still have a few questions. Now I have to come out of pocket before the insurance company pays me, and I don't know what the insurance company has approved because Belfor won't provide support documentation. They made it crystal clear by sending a certified Demand letter to my house that I need to pay NOW OR THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY FILE A LIEN on my home. What type of company does this when the invoice was provided less than 7 days ago... Second, a complete lack of professionalism with the team. The team working in my house was 50% good, 50% terrible in my opinion. Belfor used equipment such as hardwood floor vacuums that their own staff would openly told me "it will not work" but they are just doing it to charge more before tearing them out. My project was 3+ weeks of a team from 3-8 people on the job most days. You think you would bring a porta potty. Nope, I have Belfor's staff either peeing in my yard or in my toilets. Completely gross. Third, The lack of taking accountability for their actions. While on my project Belfor broke a hot water pipe and had to turn off my hot water. However after tampering with my hot water heater to shut it off, my hot water was never restored. I was told by the people on site they would fix it, but after several days without hot water, they told me to call management. Management told me my hot water heater was old and hasn't worked for a long time, even though their own people were using my hot water for cleaning. How they came to that conclusion is beyond me. An old hot water heater doesn't mean a broken one. When I brought this to their attention they tried to baffle me with BS and took no responsibility. Now I am out an additional $2800 for a hot water heater thanks to Belfor. In conclusion and after my personal experience... I would recommend working with any other restoration company other than Belfor so you don't run the risk of having a similar experience. read more

Used them after Marco Polo Fire and learned that they will tell you one thing, then when you ask for documentation, it shows something else. Told us there was no asbestos in our apartment when it turns out there really was asbestos. Also packed our personal property in boxes without our authorization and tried to overcharge the insurance company. They charged us for boxes and packing materials, then took them back. They take advantage of victims and charged almost $5,000 just to pack our personal property items and "cleaning". Would not recommend this company, be warned. read more

My insurance company referred me to Belfor to repair my roof following tree limb damage. They replaced the original roof with a rubberized material, but they glued the roofing material to the exterior of the siding, then installed flashing over the material. The roofing material should have been installed underneath the siding, not over the top. This just guaranteed that water would eventually penetrate into the siding. Four years later that is exactly what happened. We are reaping the damage with a leak that occurred when water from a storm came right over the flashing and into the living room inside the house. We were not aware of the problem until a different contractor came out and told us the roof was never installed properly to begin with. I will never use this company again, because now we have to file another claim and pay yet another deductible to repair the damage Belfor caused. Calling the company repeatedly did not solve the problem. They "promised" at least three times to send someone out to look at the problem and I simply tired of calling them back again and again. Their business model seems to be "do as little as possible to collect the payment and get out quick." read more

They A week goes by nothing...Finally I follow up only to be passed around then told they would refer me to ANOTHER company for my repair. UHM WHAT? But get this...the board up for my one small window (ply wood) was going to be OVER $1000.00. WAIT WHAT?! Basically they took my money and ran. What a waist of my time and money i dont have. BELFOR staff are shady people. On August 19, 2019, our place burned down. Our property management contracted Belfor to start the fire restoration later that morning. Belfor boarded our house up and placed locks on our doors, which made our unit accessible to only their employees. When we returned to our unit on August 22, 2019 to take our clothes and any belongings we wanted to keep, we noticed that our karaoke system was missing. I confronted Ballard from Belfor who was sent out to meet with us about the missing items, and he just shrugged his shoulders with a smirk and responded that he doesn't know what happened to it. He stated that "he would look through the pictures Belfor took to see if it was even there". I refused to sign Belfor's paperwork until this issue is resolved. It's now August 27, 2019, and we have not heard back from Belfor regarding this issue. However, we have heard from Mike, who is trying to pressure us to sign the papers because he's "really trying to get this place taken care of," in terms of already trying to restore it. Would give zero stars if possible. Things started off very well with them, then took a big u turn. Things were being handled with insurance and they gave us our quote. We told them are you sure this is the for sure price, they said yes, so we settled with the insurance so we could get the settlement and begin the fix. The next week they send someone to do asbestos testing, turns out there's asbestos in our ceiling and it'll be another 2-3k added on top of original price. Being that this is routine inspection for them, they should of well known to given a better estimate in that case as well as the insurance, so the proper settlement be reached, but because they said gave us the go ahead to sign the insurance papers on the original pricing, we did and now we are short 2-3 grand which we could have gotten out of the insurance. They said they would try to work something for us, after almost a month of "trying to work something" and very limited communication, just received an email saying "sorry, our workload is too busy, we can't help you" Ridiculous. The team who worked on fixing our bathroom was hands down incredible. They were timely, respectful, hardworking, and did exceptional work. We thought this was going to be a horrible experience as historically speaking house construction can be a nightmare. Not with these guys! It was seamless and shockingly smooth. We had a toilet flip out and flood the 2nd floorfir, the 1st floor dining area, and the kitchen. Belfor handled EVERYTHING. They removed the damaged materials, replaced everything with the exact same items and materials, and made it look like nothing ever happened. Mateo and Elvia deserve a raise and are painting gurus! There finished work was flawless and mess-free. Felix, Javier, and the entire Team took excellent care of us and it was done fast! Took a couple of weeks vs. several months like most outfits. INCREDIBLE SERVICE! 5 STARS! If you need restoration work done on your home I highly recommend them. When this happened my wife cried like a baby and was devastated as we designed and built our house from the ground up. Based on this our connection to our home is a bit more personal. I would score this company with NO STARs if this was possible. The project manager Darrin was very unprofessional, not dependable and a Liar!. Belfor had to contract out to have my dry wall and painting done, I was lied to about them not showing up when I got the truth from these contracts that the project manager did not do his job of getting the paper work completed. When they let him know about safety issues (a potential fire hazzard and piping issues) that they came upon, they were told to just close up the wall. When I spoke to the manager of this company, he basically said the same thing and did not see anything wrong with him telling the contractors to put up the dry wall- for thats what they were hired to do. I had to reschedule my kitchen cabinet installations multiple times due to "workers not showing up"- a lie. I bumped into one of the contractors and I got the truth about the painting of my dry walls (another time they did not show up). The day it was confirmed (after rescheduling again) that would the last day of repairs, NO ONE SHOWED UP, no response from Darrin after multiple texts. I had to call the national line to get to the manager to get to some to come and finish the job that same day. Its been over 3 WEEKS and no one has called to apologize or to provide me with a response to what happened on that day my repairs should have been completed. I received an invoice recently that did not match the invoice I signed and noticed that the date was different from my original signed proposal. I do not recommend this company, they do not care about their clients and nor do they care about getting the work done. read more
