As many of us were totally caught off guard during the recent Kona Low storm here in Hawaii we were awakened at 2:30 a.m. with water on the floor of our third level. How could that be? (PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ entire article) The lateral force of the wind and rain drove the water under our 3rd level deck and into the master bedroom. The volume was so great it leaked to the kitchen below. My daughter and I hauled every bucket we could find and placed them wherever water was dropping. My son who is a construction contractor in Seattle saw our videos and said, "Mom, get a sharp object and start poking holes in the ceiling of the kitchen ceiling to relieve the pressure or whole thing could drop down on you." We did it and unbelievable amounts of water fell into those buckets. After two hours I went online and looked up "Water Intrusion". Rescue One popped up along with others but we chose to call them. Their answering service took our call and gave us an arrival time for their employees. Approx. a four hour wait. We carried on until Paul and his assistant showed up we looked like two wet rats from a Halloween Party. They stepped in and started arresting the source which meant going on the roof. They were in and out for three days. They brought in some kind of 'sucking machines' which pulled the latent water between floors into containers which dumped that water outside. Kudos to Paul, his assistants and Rescue One Restoration. They are the real deal guys! Eventually repairs were completed which involved electrical outages with dishwasher, stove and light fixtures. They're very slow and have incompetent workers, and they try to hide mistakes. Would not recommend for larger repair issues. Estimates took over three months to calculate for a small apartment bathroom, which I suspect was nothing more than them dilly dallying as they immediately started when our manager sent them a strongly worded letter. There was a leak from the unit above, and the unit called this establishment. The unit's bathroom toilet pipe had been leaking and seeped into the walls and cabinets with mold starting to grow. Rescue One advised us not to remove the cabinets, so we left them on. Repair didn't start until THREE MONTHS LATER. They kept making excuses about how they were calculating stuff, etc... and we still had moldy cabinets on the walls, drenched in sewer water. Repairs finally began and they dropped the drywall they brought in, which broke. They tried to cover it up and told us that nothing was wrong when we asked. They left scratches on the walls, chips around the door frames, bathtub, and bathroom. They also installed the toilet bowl incorrectly, and the person surveying it looked annoyed when we mentioned it to them. They told us that the toilet roll holder was salvageable but the cabinets were not, so we bought a new cabinet but not a toilet roll holder. When everything was finished, we realized that they had silently replaced the old toilet roll holders with some cheap ones (which they later charged us for), which were placed so high up because the repairman was over six feet tall and didn't think to ask us (5 feet people) where we wanted it to be. When I sat on the toilet, the holder came up to my HEAD. The medicine cabinet was also placed too high (and crooked). We could hardly see our head in the mirror from how high they placed it and we had to ask that they redo it, which they looked extremely irritated and annoyed at. However, it was the repairman who came in and did everything without ever asking us about it, so whose fault was that, really? read more

Let me share my most recent experience with Rescue One. Friday November 17th my condo was pooling water throughout my home from my neighbors above me. My neighbors above me real estate manager contacted Rescue One to do the mitigation. On Saturday the 18th I met Dan, and he came over and setup Dehumidifiers in the areas that were the most impacted so everything can dry as quickly as possible, since we were on the clock for mold. He also took pictures of all of his readings from everything and everywhere. He was extraordinarily thorough and explained his entire process, which was helping me relieve some of my overwhelming anxiety. I was supposed to be going to visit my family for the thanksgiving holiday and initially was planning on having a friend of mine let people in to take care of the situation while I was gone. That is when I started asking Dan a ton of questions. I mean I bombarded him with every situation I could come up with and he was a champ in giving me realistic answers. The answers led me to cancel the trip and stay home to mitigate the process. Which I think was ultimately the best choice considering the situation. Every few days he would come in and check on them to make sure the place was drying out like they would expect. My roommate is imuno compromised, along with an asthmatic cat, I had to make sure that we were going to be safe. I would constantly text Dan asking questions, trying to understand what was happening with my home. Every couple of days he would come over and check the dehumidifiers, and reassess if we needed more of less, or if they should be moved etc. That took almost a week to dry everything out as much as possible. The damage was extensive but there was very little to no mold, that was due to Dan's quick actions on getting the dehu's setup in the best way possible! Unfortunately because of the type of water that flooded my home anything that the water touched needed to be remove. So the walls behind the kitchen, the walls in the bathroom, flood cuts throughout my home, my flooring throughout the entire place. I am devastated, to say the least. I had just remodeled my home about 2 years prior, Everything I put into the place is now having to be removed. Being on the verge of tears, I was a complete wreak and going through an emotional roller coaster that I was not prepared for to say the least. Dan's team comprised of Landon, Greg, Alfred, and Hemi. I would try and help the situation by packing up some of the things I could so that the guys can get to work as quickly and efficiently as possible. I stayed and monitored their entire process, hovering around to see what they were doing to my home. I would ask them questions and provide suggestions. I am sure to most other companies I would have been seen as that annoying younger sibling tagging along, but instead they made me feel like I was family and it was ok for me to be a part of this really difficult process. On Monday the 27th the de-construction began. The team (Landon, Greg, Alfred) helped me pack my things. I was also in there packing things up as well to try and be a part of this process. It helped me mentally being involved, I was able to be calmer about what was happening. They would let me be involved when it was appropriate. When it came time to remove the flooring they let me know that I needed a ventilation mask in order to stay since they were concerned for my health or I could leave during that part and let me know when it was safe to come back inside after that process was completed. I was really appreciative that they provided me options. I left to give them some space the first day. I ended up buying a mask and staying the next 2 days. Tuesday the inspector came to see what kind of damage the insurance company would be responsible for. Dan was able to come out and talk with the inspector on the readings and the damages that he found. I have never been in this kind of situation before. Normally if anything happens I fix it myself and move on, but to have someone I can rely on and know just how important my home is. It means the world to me. Now we are on to Wednesday Alfred and Hemi were back at it. They were working quickly and efficiently. They they were thoughtful with my things and were very careful but super quick. I was extremely impressed. By the end of Wednesday the majority of the flooring was removed and the majority of the flood cuts were removed. Since my home is on the smaller side, things needed to be shuffled around constantly and have more plastic added in order to make sure everything was properly protected. They were very meticulous on making sure my things were protected. By the end of Thursday they had completed their task. It took them 3 days!! That's it, to completely deconstruct and sanitize my home. I am so impressed with everyone thus far. Dan and his team really set a very high bar for expectations for the reconstruction team. read more

Rescue One was recommended by the plumbing company when my bathroom shower needed to be torn out due to not draining due to an old broken leaking cast iron pipe. They came in, laid down a heavy black paper path from my back door to the bathroom and got to work. In addition to completely tearing out the tile walls and floor of the shower, they had to remove a portion of the drywall behind the toilet that was damp from the leak. I am unhappy with their service. Our water break/damages are in the kitchen, so as you can imagine if affects our everyday living. I'm very surprised at how we were treated (like we didn't matter). When a company is hired you would expect communications from their staff at least on a weekly basis. The underneath sink areas that were damaged was completed practically overnight in terms of mitigation work. But after that we didn't hear a word from any of the staff. I had to keep calling, emailing and texting. We started in mid-December and we didn't hear back about updates until mid-January (after I kept calling and reaching out). I told every staff member that I spoke to that we needed to get things rolling with the cabinets (I was told that someone would be calling us). To this day we did not receive a call and didn't see any sample photo's, but they did mention that my cabinets would not be scheduled until February (mind you I didn't even see a sample yet). I utilized their portal program but that didn't work out well (it's not user friendly). What happened to an old fashioned telephone call? I work in customer service and would've appreciated communications along the entire process. I had to fend for myself towards the end, and now have to start all over with a new company. My thought is they should have a point person dealing with the customers from the beginning until fruition. The condo above us leaked down into our unit and leaked into the walls and even the flooring. Luckily Dan from rescue one was able to save us from spending a bunch of money on changing flooring/putting new walls in. He came in with machines and was able to completely dry everything in a timely manner. If I could give minus stars I would. This company is a subsidiary of RLE Inc. License ID #CT 30573. Trade/Professional Name Elliot Construction Group, address: 80 Sand Island Access Road Unit 227 Honolulu, Hawaii 96819 Flood in my apartment back in May 2021. The demolition crew, Paul was awesome. Kept in touch daily, told us what he was doing, what time he was arriving the next day and what he will accomplish. They were complete in mid June 2021. Beginning July 2021, Darin Hamada, Estimator and Contractor for Rescue One Restoration, informs tenants and I the job will take 6 to 8 days to put new bottom portion of drywall on the walls, new base boards, place floor vinyl tiles back, replace flood damage door, replace bathroom vanity. Everything back to how it was prior to the flooding. He also stated to tenants and myself their would be four people on the job. Tenants stayed out the way and stayed in the living room where there was no damage. Through out the entire job, only one person showed up. Shows up later than he informed tenants, takes smoke breaks, disappears for couple for an hour, hangs out in Access parking for Apartment bldg and leaves around 2 or 3pm. Needless to say, a month later and the tenants left for less than two weeks for their vacation but Darin couldn't get anyone to work the job. When we confronted Darin on why there is only one person working, he stated he will bring more people in. He brought in one other person for a day, then a different person for a day when we complained. Throughout this portion of time, his worker kept asking myself or the tenants what he was supposed to do. I was shocked that the contractor had little to NO communication. We found out that Darin did not have a team and was sending other workers from other companies to the job. In August, continue delays and sloppy work. Drywall bulging, messy mudding, install one of the toilet back so crooked and started a leak. No floor tiles replaced under the appliances. Sloppy, horrible pain jobs that did not match. His worker tried to paint around a flat screen TV. The worker keeps calling asking for the vanity, I tell him he needs to ask his boss. So unprofessional. Darin did not check on work progress the whole time until we met with him again to voice concerns on the job. Chris Babb enters the picture after I complained. Meeting with Chris Babb, Darin Harada, two tenants and myself after continued delays and non communication between worker and Darin. Darin responded he will have more of his workers on the job. Again hired subs from other companies. I now believe their is NO crew. Occasionally one other worker would show up but again it was back to one person. Each time we met with Darin he took notes and pictures of the same things we discussed on other meetings with him. He had no follow up or follow through job skills. September, October and before Thanksgiving in end November I no longer want Darin Harada on the job. Chris Babb wants the opportunity to finish the job. He will bring in his own crew to complete the job, did a walk through with myself and the tenants and saw the sloppy work. He agreed it was done poorly and informed us this was not the first time there was a complaint on Darin. He sent an email of everything that needed to be done and requested I email him back with anything he missed. I responded with additional tasks that we discussed need to be complete and sent him the email. December, Chris has one person working on the job. He was a great worker but he was one person working on drywall while another could have been working on other issues. It was 10 days until Christmas, tenants going on vacation, worker needed to take care of family. It was time for everyone to enjoy the holidays. We were told the job would be done by December 15. I informed Chris Babb if he wanted to complete the job we can discuss it after the New Year if the same worker came to work because he had a strong work ethic. January 7th no response from Chris Babb to finish the job. He also took tenants rugs to be clean ending November and the tenants had request for them to return it but still no response. IT IS NOW 6 MONTHS SINCE THE "RESTORE" HAS BEGUN IN JULY 2021 ON A 6-8 DAY JOB. This company is horrible to work with. We have mold growing under the kitchen sink so we contact rescue one restoration to help us out. They are very professional, very helpful and honest. From the time we contacted Andre to schedule an on-site estimate to see what steps were needed to to get rid of the mold issue throughout the remediation prices everything was handled very professionally. The four people who worked here were Don, Alex, Paul, and Noah. I want to let the company know how happy I am with its employees and the work they did. I was devastated when the first night in my new apartment resulted in the washing machine flooding my hallway and closet. We detected a leak in our ceiling and needed to figure out what the problem was. Andre came the day we called (Friday) to check it out. Although it wasn't an emergency, he arranged for a crew to come at 8 am the following Monday. The crew arrived on schedule and did an amazing job of prepping the area (covering the floors, putting up protective plastic to contain the area, etc) before opening up the ceiling. They worked quickly to identify the problem. They cleaned up the area and you would never know all the sawing and digging around they had to do to identify the source of the leak. Came home and discovered we had water damage to our floors in the living room. Called Rescue One and within an hour, Andre was over to assess the situation and walked us through the mitigation and insurance process as we had never had to deal with this before. Definitely appreciate that!! Their mitigation crew of Dan, Alex and another guy who lived nearby (sorry forgot your name buddy) handled the removal of our laminate flooring, padding, water extraction and all furniture movement very professionally. The team at Rescue One Restoration are phenomenal! I don't know where to begin. I had the great pleasure to meet and work with William and his team back in January of this year. I had an issue at a property I was selling and needed a water restoration team to provide a second opinion ASAP. Williams number was given to me from a colleague. I am forever grateful of that connection. William immediately answered scheduled a date and time to come out to the property. It is clear that William is an expert at what does. He provided thermal imaging and all documentation I needed to be able to negotiate properly with all parties. It was shortly after that first meeting - I unfortunately discovered a leak at my own house coming from not one of my second floor bathrooms - but both of them. The toilet from bathroom #1 was slowing leaking into the sub flooring. The shower valve from bathroom #2 was leaking behind the tile wall down into the sub flooring.
