All I have to say is the first Project guy Justin was on it and great to work with in the beginning! He delivered a service that was great! The second half of this , overseen by Chris was horrible! My furniture and home completely covered in dust! Hats off to the two Chines guys and gal who truly busted their Burt's in labor! This could have been easily a 4/5 STARS, but due to a lack of job oversight on the job, and communication it's a 2 STAR! When the project guy asks you not to give him a poor or bad review at the get go? Makes you go hmmmmm! I'm glad it's all done! But my furniture is embedded with drywall dust! My electronics? No one cared to take the time to cover and protect with preparation. They showed up when they chose, because they didn't understand English well, not their fault the project guy wasn't there on sight to direct them! ****BUSINESS ETHICS UPDATE***** On May 27, I received an unexpected text from a male who identified himself as being from the company, and he wanted to offer some solutions as he also apologized for what I encountered. I told this male that I already completed the repairs with another contractor. The male asked if he could call me to discuss some reimbursement for the issues I encountered. Upon speaking to this male, I learned he was the President of the company. He informed me that he was upset on how my job was handled in the quality of workmanship and customer service I received. He offered to reimburse me for any expenses I paid out of pocket. I told him that the insurance monies was enough to cover the repairs with no out of pocket expense. The male then stated he was going to have his company reimburse me the money I initially paid, as he believes in customer satisfaction. He further stated he believes customer satisfaction is #1 even if it means his company is losing money. In my original review, I specified that Terminix Hawaii was the one to do the damage. Ohana Restoration was contracted to do the repairs. It took multiple bad reviews for the company to step up and right their wrongs (inadequate repair service, absent and unhelpful customer service, showing up late or not at all to appointments). **Not the customer begging for assistance**, but being held accountable for their errors. So now, the company is harassing my mom with calls to remove reviews after they fixed their wrongs. Not going to happen. Congrats, now you guys get another bad review. read more

They were suggested by Roto-Rooter to basically replace everything that was damaged. It was nice that they wanted authorization to do any/everything, but any action from such a decision would occur the following week. Didn't matter if I answered on a Monday, Wednesday, or a Friday. Work would always start the following week. Then I asked them about my flooded kitchen sink. They blamed connecting drainage with my neighbor. The plumbers I hired to fix the problem, said that was not the case. So, the water came from usage of this sink. Something they denied doing. During COVID - there were a lot of TERRIBLE days but on the worst one of them all - my showers leak made it two floors down! SO when my insurance company told me that "I" had to find a company to perform restoration for my condo (and the 2 condos below me) I googled "restoration services" and found "Ohana Restoration" and since "Ohana" means family, I knew i would be in good hands. When I called in the morning - I was told that someone would be out by 2pm the SAME DAY - now that's just like family! Matt was able to determine what was needed and scheduled all three of our units to get taken care of right away. He and his team came in, did what they needed to do and got my unit ready for the next steps in a new shower up to and including removing a damaged dresser and carpet for me :) In addition to Matt, I also had the pleasure of working with Jennifer in their office who did everything possible to make sure I understood what next steps needed to be done with "the process" and did her very best to have my AOAO and Insurance companies involved in resolving payment of my issue. 0/5 do not recommend Bottom Line: Ohana charged us over $2072.36 for only $667.85 worth of work that they executed based on their estimate. Matt, our project manager, was extremely unprofessional. We attempted to resolve the issue with the company yet never received a response (posted in the portal, sent emails, and left over 4 messages with Matt and their call screeners to try to talk with an owner or operations manager). Recommendations: Don't use this company especially if you live on the north shore. If you decide to use Ohana, do not give them money up front. Pay them when they complete portions of the job and take pictures as the work is being done. If you run into problems or have run into similar problems in the past, file a complaint with BBB, Hawaii Professional Licensing Department, and with their Liberty Mutual Surety Bond (HOSCL@liberymutual.com). Workers did not paint the garage or do the paint prep at our request nor did they execute several other estimated portions of the garage portion of the project (like putting up protective dust barriers). Christmas came and went and the rest of the house was still incomplete. Called Ohana who thought the project was fully complete. They informed us our project manager Chris, who was easy to work with, was no longer with the company. Our new project manager was Matt. Matt was combative at the beginning of the first conversation and seemed frustrated with our project from the start. We attempted to find common ground to get out entire project complete. However, the unprofessionalism was not conducive to finishing the project with this company. Matt complained that we were too far away bc we live on North Shore. Accused us of trying to pocket insurance money and "do it ourselves" because we wanted to go with another contractor for certain repairs. Matt accused us of asking for discounts and free work because we requested information on where money was being spent. While they refunded us ~$5k of the $7k that we gave them up front they still charged us $1300 for work they never completed. Be wary of working with this organization. We had a leak coming from the third floor condo above our ground floor unit. It went unreported for three days. We were concerned about the entire process, where even to begin. After fumbling around with no-show repair companies, we saw a Ohana Restoration truck on the road and figured we'd try them. We called and William explained the process and got things going. Update four days later... Initial project manager returned to remove equipment. He admitted the company's processes were disjointed and lacked transparency then apologized repeatedly. That was kind. They bid on the contract claim from the insurance company, then did demo, then came back for yet another estimate for reconstruction to the initial contract after the demo to the insurance company, with an updated estimate for reconstruction and more money. ....hmmm.... This new plan, timeline (now up to a month), and cost goes against all previous communications and contract bid. Our adjuster was communicated by Ohana that this was due to the need to expand the scope of work after demo.... (Mind you, it's just 3-4 sheets of drywall, insulation, and painting. A weeks job anywhere else. Total.) Yet no new damages were seen or need for expanded scope of work estimate from the previous estimation that was does weeks ago. Just a little more drying of two boards was needed. Then all of a sudden all four walls need painting and 5 days to just hang three sheets of drywall etc etc etc. Poor project management at the least. But my concern as has been seen in other posts this year is the same trend and how this company operates. ******** Original review Beware and get another estimate. As soon as the project manager arrived and saw our house and heard our damage was covered by insurance, the cost and time in restoration increased. Initial arrival, estimates, and communication went smoothly. Dry the minor flood damage. Then it was show up with scaffolding, tear down three sheets of drywall and replace. One day of work. Wrong. A new Forman arrived to the house after the demo and estimated the job to take a week. But that wouldn't start for another month! Why? The PM stated the new boss needed to do a new estimate on restoration. Why? Just days before the project lead told us it would all be done on that one day. With priming and painting taking a couple days of course. But now all of a sudden it's costing more time and money? READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. Trend developing. -Customer service was terrible and rude. Doesn't even say bye and this was for multiple different calls, would cut me off when I was explaining things, and we never got around to fixing the problem because all they would tell me is, 'would you like me to leave a message for them to back to you.' It would be great, if I didn't have to get in contact at least 3 times to get a call back in regards to that message over the span of weeks! -When I finally got in contact with someone in regards to my issue they said that they're very busy and swamp with work and trying to make a joke of things, but my thing has been broken since Jan and it's March now going on to April. Not sure how long this was going to take, but I didn't think it was going to be this long! Also if they're gonna use being busy at work the reason why they can't help me or get in touch with over the span of weeks, then maybe hire more people or reduce the work load because it's not great for the workers and it's not great for the customers! -We scheduled something for 10-1 and no one showed up or called. I did get a call early in the morning at 7 when I was still sleeping and didn't even bother to answer because I knew we decided to meet up later. The call never left a voice mail, called that number back at the end of the day to find it out it was Ohana's and just met with the same customer service of, "would you like me to leave a message for them?" They never called me back. In the end, this company is too overworked that they disregard their customers who are already stressed about the problems at home. After not getting that call to visit my home to check things out, I'm not going to waste more of my time and effort and am just going to find someone better. Do not use this restoration company . With our project , there were multiple no shows when appointments were scheduled. Our home's air conditioning central was left broken after work done. A staff member told us there were other projects more important for them to work on. Poor communication noted between company employees. Telephone calls left unanswered . Staff parked in our driveway when advised not to., We then had to pay our Association bill. read more

I am working with Ohana on an insurance claim for my home that covers a lot of areas. We are not finished with the entire job yet but I must say that I was very impressed with the electrical crew that did work on my house. Bing and his crew were fast, efficient, courteous, and very professional. They installed recessed lights and a ceiling fan for me. They pulled together and worked after hours to make sure that the job was completed. They cleaned up really thoroughly after they finished the job as well. Matt - the lead on the project, is very proficient at working with the insurance adjuster. He stepped in and made the whole process much easier for me. They haven't finished the entire project yet, so I will update this once everything is done. read more

When I called to inquire about an estimate they were so quick to schedule an appointment to assess our home. After the estimate with Chris we never heard back from him. One week after the appointment I called Ohana for an update. I was told that I would get a call back, never got one. A few days later I called Chris and he said the estimate would be ready in 2 days (Thursday). I never heard back on Thursday, so I called Chris directly on Friday, of course NO ANSWER, NO CALL BACK. We worked with our insurance company and they recommended these guys because they were quick, easy, and they've worked with Ohana on multiple occasions. At first everything was going great. They came out really quick, got the estimates, and sent it off to the insurance company. This is where everything got complicated. I'm sure insurance companies can be hard to work with but I kept getting different answers from Ohana and USAA. When it was time to start the work on our place Ohana had told me they were going to replace the whole flooring but USAA had told me they were not so we had to wait another 2 weeks for them to sort this out. They finally started the work which took 1 week. At about the 5th day we came home to drop things off because they were finishing up (we weren't living at home for 2 months) and the workers had been running our A/C while working and without our permission. We knew this because when we came home all the windows had been closed and it was cold in our place. I had told their manager (Dennis) and he said he would let them know not to run the A/C. We came home then next morning to drop more things off and they were still running the A/C. When I asked them why they were running it they said Dennis didn't tell them anything. For the month the electricity bill was almost $150 mind you we weren't living at home. I understand they needed to use some electricity for the tools but not that much. When the work was done we went to go meet with Dennis at our place. Everything looked good at first sight. He then told me he was going to stop by the next day to bring some paperwork to sign with no mention of cleaners coming to clean all the mess. Our place was filthy with dry wall dust everywhere. My wife, mother-in-law, and myself spent 3 hours cleaning everything. This is where I got upset because as we were cleaning there was paint on the new flooring, baseboards looked unprofessionally painted, caulking in the flooring, the paint in the kitchen looked like a patch job, scuff marks on the flooring from sliding things across the floor, our water heater was improperly installed and caused another leak into our neighbors downstairs, they cracked one of our ceramic tiles in the kitchen, and the bifold doors for our laundry area wasn't put back even though it was in the quote. The owner of Ohana had stopped by and I had addressed my concerns to him and he compensated us for the electric bill and told Dennis to finish up the work and find the correct ceramic tile to replace the one that had cracked. They did get cleaners to come on a Saturday night so our plans were shot from that. Painters came and fixed the baseboards and tried to fix the kitchen paint job but it still looks like a patch job. That was 3 months ago and they only just now fixed the bifold doors and I haven't gotten any calls from Dennis or James to check on us or see if the work was completed. They've brought over 2 different ceramic tiles that didn't match our flooring. So now I have to either deal with a cracked tile or a mismatched one. Those are my only 2 options. I would not recommend these guys. read more

We had flood damage to our condo in April and are working with our insurance agents to move things along to restore our home. (This is the business that our insurance company unfortunately recommended.) We have been calling and leaving messages for this business over and over and have had limited response. I understand that there is a process when it comes to insurance claims and payments, so the timeframe can be lengthy. I also understand that we aren't their only customers, and there will be a delay in getting our condo repaired. However, a little bit of communication really helps to ease the worry and frustration of being homeowners living in a disaster zone. Had some water damage last year Dec 2021. Ohana came to "fix" whatever was damaged, floors, sinks, toilets (with some upgrades). This year, had to call a plumber to fix their work (toilet and sink was leaking water). Did some painting over walls and floors that they marked up. The only person that spoke english was the project manager that i talked to over the phone (met him maybe 2 times). The workers that worked on our house was Chinese and we couldn't understand each other. They left trash behind after they 'finished the job'. Their response time was great. The service was great up until we were told they would start in a week and then found out that the flooring was unavailable. We then went on to wait for four months before the flooring was available. I believe they should check availability before telling us they would start as we were hoping it would be done by thanksgiving. I know business is business and we did pay a good portion before they started four months later. But as soon as it was done i received a bill, which was fine. Two days later they were texting asking if payment was made. I was like we waited four months and youre texting me for payment in two days, not like we didnt already pay a portion. BTW the check was already in the mail. The mitigation work and flooring work and workers are fantastic, i believe they are contracted by ohana. No complaints with them. I had Ohana Restoration do 2 jobs a month or so apart. They had to replace ALL my flooring downstairs including moving furniture and fixing walls. They did a great job on the flooring. The second job consisted if removing some of the new flooring so the plumbers were able to fix a new leak then putting it back. They did a great job on the flooring and repairs. The only reason they are not getting 5 stars is that things were not put back where they should be and no one asked me before leaving to check out the finished work. They were able to squeeze my 2nd job in even though they were booked. I really appreciated that. read more

I will never use this company ever again!!! They deserve no stars actually, but there isn't a no star option. What was advised to me that would take two weeks, took two months. What was also advised was that there would be a team working together on the restoration, ended up only with one employee each day in which the employee would leave unexpectedly and leave what they have been working on unfinished. Employee also broke a tile in my second floor bathroom by accident but was trying to defer the reason it broke was because of him. This was probably due to the company having to pay out of their own pocket to replace the tile for the whole bathroom because the tile I have is old and they could not find a match at the stores, and so they would have to replace the whole flooring in this bathroom. They chose to buy luxury vinyl because it easier to install, and I agreed to that as well, but instead of removing the rest of the tile in my bathroom, employee added the luxury vinyl on top of my tile, making the bathroom floor even higher than the hallway floor which could cause a hazard when walking in. After speaking to the employee, he removed all the tile and replaced with the vinyl. Luckily I caught that before he was done. This bathroom incident wasn't part of the restoration process. It was an incident that happened outside of the restoration process. There were multiple times where I was told that the job will continue the next week due to they are busy so, a week goes by with no work done because I'm having to wait till the next week for them to continue on what they were working on. Employee spilt paint on my personal clothing in my closet. They took a month after they finally finish the job before coming back to my house to remove all the trash they said they were going to take with them on the last day of their work. They came in November to pick up the trash that was sitting in my property for a month. I would not recommend nor use this company again. What the salesman says and what really happens is never the same. No consistency, no good communication between employees and management so I had been having to contact the manager or sales man continuously throughout the process. Employee would leave for the weekend and did not finish a final piece of the job they were working on because he claims he started work earlier than normal so he can leave early and leave the flooring half ass. We recently experienced a blockage in our pipes resulting in water damage to our bathroom, kitchen, and hallway. Ohana Restoration came in and assessed the problem, and drew up an estimate. William and Matt were thorough and fast in getting the work started, and were excellent in working with our insurance adjuster from Allstate. A special shout out to Shane, who supervised the terrific cleanup crew. We are still in the working process, but soon will have everything completed. Huge thank you to the crew at Ohana Restoration who helped make what is normally a very unpleasant situation into a surprisingly painless process! Had a Sunday morning water leak in our condo in Kahala and I called all around looking for some help with mitigating the water damage and surprise surprise, it seemed like every other company I called didn't answer or was not available. After almost giving up, I called up Ohana and William answered right away and after speaking about the situation for a few minutes, told me that he would be able to send someone over within the hour!! Less than an hour later, Jamie showed up and got right down to business with developing a plan of action and putting it into place. Thankfully, because of the fast response, we were able to really limit the amount of damage caused by the water and within a few days everything was dry. What is funny is that I was still getting return calls from other companies DAYS after the team at Ohana had already completed the work, lol. I live in a fourth floor apartment with a huge picture window in my living room and my bedroom. On Christmas the rain and wind battered the window so much that we had a ton of water all over the floors ruined our carpet and even some of the drywall and paint. It was a Christmas humbug for sure. But we called Ohana and got attention immediately. Jamie and Bill and their team of hard workers showed up shortly after we called and helped us start a claim and immediately began work to dry us out and get back to normal. Not only did they work hard and fast, but they made me feel taken care of and their expertise made it so I barely had to lift a finger.
