There were some hiccups with a subcontractor, but Steve, the PM for my condo made it right. It was a giant pain... But the result ended up incredible. Antony was the primary craftsman in my home. He always puts in the extra effort, is professional, trustworthy, and he will not call the job complete if the work is not of the highest quality. Getting a quote was easy and Marcos made scheduling the initial consultation and assessment super easy. He came to my apartment on-time and went through everything in detail. He carefully inspected all of the damage and walked me through what his thoughts were and assured me that he will document everything thoroughly so that the insurance companies will have more than enough information to accurately assess my costs. Based on the initial consultation, I thought this would easily clear $15,000, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that we came in under $12,000, especially for the amount of work that I was looking at. The quotes were also very detailed, breaking down each cost for the spaces I needed repaired. I was provided PDFs of these quotes for my own records and when it came time to pay, I was able to pay in parts when each part of the job began. Marcos and his team were also very patient with my work and travel schedules, always coordinating with me to make sure things were done not only in a timely manner, but in proper sequence and done thoroughly. Throughout the whole process, Marcos was kind, knowledgable, communicative, professional, and understanding. I was originally afraid that there was extensive damage to my unit because of how everything appeared on the outside, especially because of water in my circuit breaker. But Kory, the guy who was in charge of making sure all the moisture and mold was taken care of, not only gave me a very clear and easy to understand explanation of all the damage, but he actually was able to show me that the damage to my wall was significantly less worse than what we thought. I expected to lose my cabinets but thanks to Kory, I was able to keep them! He also made sure that a thorough job was done to dry out my apartment so the insurance company would see that we did things exactly by the book and that the water mitigation was thorough. He was incredibly nice, professional, and trustworthy. After Kory, Francisco their drywall specialist came in and did a quick and thorough job of repairing and replacing the drywall that did receive damage. Scheduling time with them was easy thanks to Marcos and Francisco arrived in a timely manner, once again making it easy for me on my tough work schedule. I received drywall work that was even better than what I originally had which was great. Francisco was efficient, professional, and did a excellent job. Finally, Leo, the flooring guy came in with another employee and did an incredible job with my flooring. Marcos provided resources to help me choose new flooring, which was done at H&C Flooring in Kalihi. Sophia was very helpful in recommending good colors and material. Once that was done, Leo did an excellent job communicating all of his work and showing me what was done and what still needed to be done. A big thank you to him as well for putting up with the amount of stuff that I had in the apartment still and moving it all around to do the flooring. He even came in on a Sunday to make good progress on finishing the flooring! Leo was incredibly thorough, professional, kind, and I really appreciated his work. Overall, my experience with Hawaii Water Damage Restorartion was excellent. Marcos, Kory, Francisco, Leo and the rest of the team were great to work with and incredibly professional. As many of us were totally caught off guard during the recent Kona Low storm here in Hawaii we were…read moreawakened at 2:30 a.m. with water on the floor of our third level. How could that be? (PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ entire article) The lateral force of the wind and rain drove the water under our 3rd level deck and into the master bedroom. The volume was so great it leaked to the kitchen below. My daughter and I hauled every bucket we could find and placed them wherever water was dropping. My son who is a construction contractor in Seattle saw our videos and said, "Mom, get a sharp object and start poking holes in the ceiling of the kitchen ceiling to relieve the pressure or whole thing could drop down on you." We did it and unbelievable amounts of water fell into those buckets. After two hours I went online and looked up "Water Intrusion". Rescue One popped up along with others but we chose to call them. Their answering service took our call and gave us an arrival time for their employees. Approx. a four hour wait. We carried on until Paul and his assistant showed up we looked like two wet rats from a Halloween Party. They stepped in and started arresting the source which meant going on the roof. They were in and out for three days. They brought in some kind of 'sucking machines' which pulled the latent water between floors into containers which dumped that water outside. Kudos to Paul, his assistants and Rescue One Restoration. They are the real deal guys! Eventually repairs were completed which involved electrical outages with dishwasher, stove and light fixtures. I had several issues with this company. Do not waste your time or money…read more Context: We need to repaint our home due to HOA requirements, and I reached out to 9 contractors across Oahu, including Handy Andy. 1/ They were the ONLY ones to charge a fee for an "on-site visit," i.e., just viewing our property and drafting an estimate. The charge was $175 and was "applied as credit" for the job; otherwise, if we don't move forward with them, it would be non-refundable, which is already a scam because of problem number 2. 2/ Between the 9 contractors, the quotes for the SAME painting job of our house I received were between the range of $6100 to $7800 AND exactly one at $16,073. Handy Andy quoted nearly DOUBLE what every single licensed painting contractor and company I reached out to is charging as of 2026. They articulated in their quote that they would try and price match any licensed contractor, but why would we trust them when they are so far from the average, and they are not transparent about what paint they're using, which would help us discern the quality? (see number 4) So now they keep the $175 for stopping by our house for 10 minutes, because there would be no way we would go with them after doing our research. I will note that I understand gas can be expensive, so I would not have minded paying a smaller fee for the trip to subsidize that cost, despite no one else charging us, but there is no way it cost $175 to send their intern (see item number 5). 3/ Every single contractor except for Handy Andy included minor wood repairs, chips, etc within the total cost, still not exceeding $8000, which was not the case and came at an additional cost to us. 4/ Every single contractor, within their quote, provided the exact paint they were planning to use, which helped us discern the quality of paint (For reference, the highest tier, the Ultra Premium option from Sherwin-Williams Rain Refresh, was quoted at $7400 in total for us), but Handy Andy did not include this information in their quote which would directly help us understand the value of what we are paying for. 5/ For the onsite visit (which they had to postpone for the following day after I had already changed my plans to accommodate their timing), every single company/contractor I called, the person who was either going to paint the house, owned the company or be part of the team that was going to paint showed up... except for Handy Andy. This young individual showed up to do the assessment. He said he was their scout and would not do any part of the actual paint and repair job. I asked him basic questions about priming and caulking, and brought up questions and concerns, particularly moisture treating, because Oahu is obviously very hot and humid, and he was unable to answer, often saying, "I'm not sure I know what that is, but I will get back to you." Considering I paid $175 for this individual, I would expect him to know the basic requirements of homes here. Overall, my husband and I are very upset that we spent $175 just to get a quote that was double the going rate on the island, and we feel like we were scammed. Don't waste your time!

Upon removing the guest bathroom toilet, the plumber found water leaking from the toilet wax ring. Upon removing the old paradigm flooring, installers found old flooring to be wet underneath and moisture leading down the hallway. Matt Wagner of Abbey Carpet was notified as all work stopped due to possibility of mold and mildew. Matt immediately called Premier Restoration Hawaii and Ryker Hyde came within hours. Ryker checked the complete area in the bathroom and hallway with his moisture reader and infrared imaging function and found no visible moisture or signs of mold or mildew and floor installation was able to continue 2 days later. Whew!!! Ryker advised spaying a preventative microbial application around the toilet wax ring as a precautionary measure before new flooring is installed. Ryker was so professional and thorough in checking and explaining everything to me, a senior who knows very little about plumbing. Ryker was so caring and helpful and did not charge anything for his inspection and work that day. Wonderful!!!
