Jason in customer service was absolutely wonderful! I ordered several dresses online while trying to find the perfect one for a summer wedding. Because I'm sensitive to fragrances and can develop migraines from exposure, spending extended time shopping in stores with perfume counters can be challenging. Jason was incredibly understanding, patient, and attentive. He made the return process easy and treated me with genuine kindness. I even offered to help put the dresses back on hangers, and he simply smiled and said, "No problem, it gives me something to do." That small moment really showed his positive attitude and willingness to help. Thank you, Jason, for making my experience at Belk such a pleasant one. If you're losing business in droves, it is no surprise. I literally had to try to return something on four attempts because employees would actively ignore me and tonight there were four of them all standing together, actively ignoring me while I stood receipt in hand hand, trying to return some dresses it was only after I walked away, intent on going to customer service to report that I was being actively ignored by four grown women employees and they called me back and decided to not ignore me anymore, but I will never go back there because nobody is friendly. Everyone has an attitude and it's impossible to get anybody to wait on you. they were tidying things up and talking amongst themselves as I stood there for about four or five minutes nobody acknowledged me nobody said I'll be right with you. Nobody said can I help you when I tell you they looked me in my face and then chose to ignore me that is exactly what happened and I hope you can see it on the video tapes. Where are they had to call me back because I had walked away intent on finding a manager. I wish that people could find jobs. They enjoyed doing instead of being resentful, hateful, and passive aggressive. I am so sorry that doing your job triggers you so much. Maybe customer service is not the line of work you should be in. I will never ever be back to Belk at the bridge Street, ever guaranteed! Absolutely disgraceful customer service I used to work for a Belk I am absolutely disgusted, completely utterly appalled at the apathy. It cost nothing to be a human and to be kind of one another absolutely nothing in fact, I'm pretty sure it expends more energy to be a passive aggressive harpy! I went to Belk searching for a medium size Gucci purse or a larger Louis Vuitton purse. There were several purses in stock but nothing that I wanted. I will go back soon to check out the inventory. The young lady in the purse department was extremely helpful. This store has a much larger selection of purses compared to the Park Place store. read more

Belk - South entrance - Department Stores Near Me - Huntsville, Alabama

It's Belk. We all wish Belk was Macy's. I have not been in this store in a while because it's just so easy to shop online with Belk. Which I do quite a bit. You can get good deals when their cosmetics are on sale [Estee Lauder, Clinique, Bobbie Brown] and especially when they add a "GWP" [gift with purchase] or a "PWP" [purchase with purchase] and generally shipping is quick and I think the Belk app is pretty good! As I recall PayPal purchase that you return will result in a Belk gift card, which is likely standard anywhere. No big deal to me! Belk is one of the few local stores that carries Alfred Dunner petites, which I used to buy frequently for sweet Momma before she lost so much weight. I like their selection of costume jewelry such as silver-plated earrings, and some of their clearances are insanely good! Last time I was in store shopping with fellow Yelper Ashley, she scored big time on women's clothing including swimsuits and even at insane markdowns, the sales lady said, "keep your receipt and if anything doesn't work out, just bring it back." They have a nice selection of shoe brands for women, and you can find good deals on the shoe clearance racks. They offer upscale bags, too and I'm not about that, the cheaper the purse, the better, to me. I also like their accessory department, when you can always find something you didn't think you needed! When I have visited this location, the sales folks are not outright rude, nor are they overly helpful. I came in to smell Some fragrances and was greeted upon entering. The lady tells you about the app for deals and welcomes you in. I wasn't buying anything but it's good to know how you can save more money. Everything was on sale and even more with the coupons on the app. I looked around in the shoe department as well as the women's and salespeople not only spoke to me but offered assistance. It was refreshing since most employees act like the don't want to be there or help you. Nice vibe and very welcoming. Will come back when I am in town. read more

We were in dire need of a men's suit. They had someone at the entrance to help guide us where to go. It was a busy Saturday. Many of the suit jackets were not placed with the pants so you had to hunt to find them. The selection was sparse. Many if the items were on the wrong labeled hangers (i.e., 44R labeled hanger had a 50S jacket). There were 2 fitting rooms for the while men's section. They were at least very spacious. Just a typical Saturday experience at a bulk department store...a free-for-all. For a $600 suit, I would expect a bit better. We decided to try our luck at the other Belk. Ugh!! read more

Unparalleled service provided by David in the men's department. He has been a mainstay in that department as long as I can remember. He is very helpful and knowledgeable about men's clothing and accessories. Belk should be proud to have a sales associate such as himself. Not a big shopper, I ran into Belk at Bridge Street to pick up some makeup. The clerk who assisted me was friendly and helpful in every way, suggesting new products, but not at all pushy. She wore a smile throughout the entire sales process. As she assisted me, I observed another clerk assisting another customer with the same friendly and helpful manner. I then selected a few items in the ladies clothing department and at checkout was assisted by a clerk who went above and beyond to help determine the remaining balance on a gift card that I had. I was ready to bail on the gift card after a couple of tries, but she continued to try various ways to find the balance, all the while smiling. My shopping experience was a pleasure because of these two Belk associates. Accustomed (unfortunately) to rush and impatience in most stores, these ladies stood out in a great way! Nice location at Bridge Street. Large department store with an abundance of things to shop for. House goods has everything for the kitchen (pots, pans, knives, gadgets, etc), home (sheets, comforters, towels, curtains, etc), and clothes...tons of clothes. Men's, women's, children including shirts, pants, shoes, and so much more. Just like any Belk make sure to watch for specials. They are always offering $$ of of certain amounts ($10 off of $30) as well as deep discounts on products that are transitioning out of season. No interaction with any of the staff at this location, but historically they do a pretty good job. Would come back here if I'm in the area. read more

Here is the thing about BELK Bridge Street, they push their employees to get customers to apply for credit, it is not the associates fault, they are literally mentally bullied into doing so, and if it is not the credit application, it is getting your email or phone number in the system and making sure that you download the app in-store and not out of the store. The sales associate cannot rest for a second while at the register because the sales managers watch them like a hawk and listen to them when they are dealing with customers. It is the most micro-managed placed I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. The associates are being beaten up daily for this so if they have an attitude or come across like they have an attitude, it is out of frustration. Their wellbeing and mental health are NOT taken into consideration, because they have to GET THOSE CREDIT APPLICATIONS, NUMBERS, and EMAILS!!! The best part, their incentives are snacks and or $2 for each credit application received. It is a very bullying environment, very toxic, and I feel sorry for all the associates who work there. If you are happy at your job, you work harder, Belk's management has yet to learn that lesson. Turnover is very high, can't imagine why! Travis is also one of the worst managers I have ever met, the only interaction he has with his employees is to enforce the credit application, collecting emails and phone numbers, while he has his manager-bullies go out and torture the staff. WORST place EVER!!! If you have no self-respect, is ok with being devalued by people who have not accomplished much in their own lives - Tracy (an employee quit last night because of her), but get off on trying to making you feel like you should fear them, then this is the place for you. Having lived up and down the east coast, by far this is the BEST Belk that Ive been to. The high end product availability is outstanding. Most Belk stores Ive been to have nothing short of middle of the road establishments. I was very surprised and delighted! Top brands include: DVF, Joe Malone (my favorite), Kate Spade, Chanel, Givenchy, Adrianna Pappell, etc Smaller store but outstanding offering. A girls dream! Im only visiting for a weekend but I definitely did some damage in this store. read more

The store is wonderful. It is spacious and has plenty of options in all sizes and styles. My biggest complaint is the customer service. I was recently in the store and had an employee complain during my transaction because of commission. I was with a friend and apparently the employee wanted to close my friend's sale since my friend had merchandise the employee could get commission for selling (even though the employee did NOT help us with the selection). Unfortunately she was stuck with my sale. She loudly and rudely continued to address other customers across the department about purchases while completing my sale. She made sure we all knew she needed to make commission. She was definitely unpleasant. If you don't have to deal with that person your visit to Belk could be great. read more

This review is not for the stores but for the corporate office. As a past employee, I can say that the corporate office does not value their employees and expect everyone to be perfect. I made a mistake and they let me go. I didn't get a warning or a second chance. They treated me like a criminal. It was very unfair as I had been told I did a great job, I filled in for people when they needed me, and I worked hard keeping our area of the store neat and organized. I was so hurt when they investigated my mistake and didn't believe me. I loved working there and I cared about all my coworkers. I am still hurt over the way they treated me. read more

Recently visited Belk to purchase some shoes. My family has always used my grandmothers employee discount and belk card. With no issue. The past two times I have gone they have given me nothing but rude comments and complications. First time the lady mocked me when I simply asked if the discount could be used with an item already on sale. The next time I was treated like a criminal almost. The lady called the card service to verify. I informed her that my grandmother used to work with the man upstairs and I would just take them up there. They called upstairs to tell them not to let me use it. So the lady pretended she typed stuff in and said "nope not letting me do it" not to mention when I approached her to make a sale she said, "first off what are you even buying".. the rude tone was enough to rub me the wrong way but it just escalated from there. So my fiancé comes up there to try to see what the problem is since no one else but me have had problems. They again called up stores to inform them we were coming and sent the manager out. Her first words, "so what's the problem" not hey guys can I help you. Just very unprofessional. Then she proceeds to tell me how I'm asking them to break the rules. I informed her no I was asking her to do what they have done many times before. We went back today with my grandmother who is 83yrs old so very convenient. And they again caught an attitude with her. Asking if she had 15% off why do they want to use her employee discount and so forth. I won't be bringing anymore business to this rude shit hole of a store. Not to mention my family is white and I'm the only half black person who tends to always catch back lash. You draw your own conclusion. read more
